When we input numbers that are continuous, like for example, numbers 1 to 100, we usually think that it is hard to do because there’s a lot of numbers that needs to be inputted. But with the use of auto fill function of the Microsoft Excel, we can easily input the numbers, dates, or months continuously just by clicking and dragging them.

USING AUTOFILL ON TEXTS

Auto fill is used when you want the days or months, or even numbers to be inputted continuously without typing them one by one. To do this, type in the first month or day that you wish to auto fill. For example, we’re going to input “January” on cell A1. Note that you can also start with other month or number. After inputting the word, click the cell, then move the mouse pointer the lower right corner of that cell. The mouse pointer will then change into a crosshair cursor (+).

Click and drag horizontally, vertically or upwards until your desired months/days are inputted. Release when done.

You can also use autofill to an ordinary word. Steps are the same as above. But there is a difference with the output. With this, it will just try to copy the word throughout the cells. For example, input the word “Hello” on cell B1. Then click and drag it up to cell F1.

Entering numbers on cells are just like entering word contents. You just need to type in the numbers inside the cell. For example, type in numbers 1 to 5 on cell A1 to cell A5.
