When Rowling was six years oldshe wrote her first story about a rabbitcalled “Rabbit.” She was inspired byone of her teachers who said, “You cando this.” Her mother was considered her biggestadvocate, always supporting andencouraging her to read and write. At 25 years old, while on a train ride toLondon, the idea of Harry Potter cameto her. She envisioned a story of awizard school and the idea of a boy whodidn’t know he had special powers untilhe entered the school of wizardry. Afterher train ride, she returned home andimmediately started writing the famousstory. After finishing the last chapter of herfirst book, Rowling sent her manuscriptto twelve publishing houses, all ofwhich rejected her novel. In August of1996 a Bloomsbury Publishing house inLondon published her book. Rowling’sperseverance proved that dreams cancome true. Subsequently, all seven books of theHarry Potter collection were made intohuge revenue-producing films. As aresult, the fans became larger andmore enthusiastic with each new filmreleased, and a cult following emerged.These Harry Potter groupies dressedup as the characters in the film andcould be seen lined up around the blockwaiting for the first showing of eachfilm.
