4. PREPARATIONVerify that following materials are ready for the procedures:1) Procedures to Upgrade Firmware:1 SpectralWave UN5000 AMP64 Setup Procedures (required before Firemware upgrade)2 This document* Before proceeding to this document, 1 SpectralWave UN5000 AMP64 Setup Procedures (required before Firemware upgrade) must be completed.2) F/W Bundle files (CD ROM):# Bundle file for UN5000 Rel.2.30(A0230011.UN2,A0230014.UN2,A0230015.UN2, A0230016.UN2, C0230011.UN2, C0230M11.SUW ( 1-set containing 6 files)3) CID Software (CD ROM):# CID file for UN5000 Rel.2.30

4) When newly adding EXT16/EXTWB Shelf to UN5000 Main Shelf while in service, proceed with the following: When Using EXT16/EXTWB of UN5000: Complete all the physical connections to the UN5000 by referring to the SpectralWave( UN5000 User's Manual (DOI-S11641).

Referring to Appendix: Procedures to Add Extension Shelves, register EXT16/EXTWB Shelf by INC-100MS and CID.

Ensure to release the Lockout state, which is provided in Appendix: Procedures to Add Extension Shelves, Chapter 3. Release Lockout When Using EXT16/EXTWB of U-Node BBM:If using EXT16/EXTWB Shelf/Shelves of U-Node BBM, proceed with the follwoing in advance:

Prepare and install the appropriate SC16M or SCWB2 that is for the use of UN5000.

Complete all the physical connections to the UN5000 by referring to the SpectralWave( UN5000 User's Manual (DOI-S11641).

Referring to Appendix: Procedures to Add Extension Shelves, register the EXT16/EXTWB Shelf by INC-100MS and CID.Ensure to release the Lockout state, which is provided in Appendix: Procedures to Add Extension Shelves, Chapter 3. Release Lockout When Upgrading F/W Versions by CID:To upgrade UN5000 F/W versions by CID, refer to the SpectralWave( UN5000 User's Manual (DOI-S11641) for its operation.5. NEED-TO-KNOW THINGS!! Ensure to Read Following BEFORE Starting Procedures !!

5.1 Precaution

5.1.1 Upgrading ProceduresThe upgrading procedures here include a Cutover operation. Using downloaded files, the Cutover operation reboots the NE, which updates the NE. Since following events will occur when an NE is restarted, obtaining approvals of the customer is required in advance. Traffic Interruption on EINFM Package. During the Cutover operation, all the traffic associated with the target EINFM Package are interrupted. EINFM that is upgraded by this procedure supports LCAS function.*EINFM Package that supports LCAS function does not associate with the one on the other end if it does not support LCAS function, where all the traffic associated with those EINFM is interrupted. To proceed with this upgrades, EINFM on the other end must be either the one that supports LCAS or that is to be upgraded to support LCAS.Traffic Interruption on E12 Package.

A cutover operation interrupts the traffic associated with E12 packages.

Saved PM data will Be Cleared. An NE has saved PM data of each facility, path end of a node, including IPPM, which will be erased by rebooting the NE. When the NE is started up again, it newly starts counting the PM data that are to be saved.Saved Command Logs will Be ClearedAn NE has saved logs of all commands issued to the NE, which will be erased by rebooting the NE. Logs of commands that are issued after the NE is restarted will be saved.Saved Automatic-Report Logs will Be ClearedAn NE has saved logs of automatic reports that the NE has made, which will be erased by rebooting the NE. Logs of automatic reports that are made after the NE is restarted will be saved.Brief Interruption of Communication with INC-100MSWhile proceeding with procedures here, Association Fail alarm occurs to the target NE temporarily, and DCC-LINK-FAIL occurs to the associated node. It may take about 10 minutes to recover from the occurrence of these conditions.Brief Interruption of Communication with EXTWB Shelf

While proceeding with procedures here, LINK_FAIL_EXT alarm occurs to the target NE temporarily if EXT16/EXTWB shelf is connected. It may take about 10 minutes to recover from the occurrence of this condition. No other events affected by the procedures should occur.

>1) Do not attempt CID operation while the procedures are done by INC-100MS.2) Do not attempt controlling/operating NEs associated with the target NE in the Ring network during the Cutover operation.3) When the target equipment enables the following protection functions, ensure that their WORK sides are in service; Do not perform this procedure if a PROTECTION side is selected. Package Protection Line Protection Path Protection Ring Protection[If any events or difficulties other than those mentioned above occur during the procedures, contact NEC.]

5.2 Record the Current Condition

Before starting the procedures, record the current conditions of the network, which should be the same as those obtained after the upgrade.

StepWork DescriptionsItems to VerifyCheck

01Open the New Event Window of the INC-100MS (Fig. 1), and check the current alarms and conditions.

Left-click on the New Event-box

-> New Event Window Opens

Dont close this New Event Window, until complete whole procedure.* To use an extension shelf of U-Node BBM, replace SC16/SCWB2 with SC16M/SCWB2 provided for UN5000, and complete all the physical connections to UN5000 referring to the UN5000 User's Manual. Registrations of the shelf must be completed by INC-100MS on ahead. (Refer to Appendix: Procedures to Add Extension Shelves chapter.)1) No alarm is occurring.

2) If an alarm is occurring, judge whether or not the upgrading procedure is available to keep going. If necessary, ask the customer for the judgment.

3) For the record, save the New Event data by a screen copy for the use of verification after the work.

* If a target PKG to be upgraded is in abnormal condition (IMPROPRMVL, CPU_FAIL and/or PKG_FAIL), the download will not be properly completed, or the traffic may be affected at the Cutover.

* When using an extension shelf of U-Node BBM, an SFT_VER alarm will be issued to the package on the extension shelf. However, this alarm does not affect the procedure for upgrading F/W versions.
