“We would like to respectfully acknowledge the Bundjalung people who are the Traditional Custodians and First Peoples of the Land on which our school stands.”

Last week students attended the Life Education Van and participated in

programs which delivered a wealth of information regarding student

wellbeing, health and safety. Students of all ages were engaged with interactive displays, role plays

involving decision making and of course the chance to catch up with an old favourite, or for some meet a new friend, Healthy Harold. Students who attended were also given a booklet full of activities and information relating

to their session to share and work through at home.

Kind regards, Mrs Davies

BE A LEARNER

Well, we are truly back into the swing of things and the holidays seem a distant memory. The

children have all settled in beautifully and are working hard in their literacy and numeracy

groups and their home classes. Now that all our families have returned I would like to stress

the importance of having up to date contact information in the office. If you have changed any

of your contact numbers recently, moved or do not have an emergency contact listed could

you please contact the office so we can update our records.

Hopefully we are seeing the end of the bad weather conditions. We had many calls during the

recent bad weather. I hope none of our families were too badly affected by water damage. As

most of you are aware we do not flood but in real extreme weather conditions we may be cut off at

the height of a flood. If it looks as though this may

happen, parents will be contacted so it is important that

our records are up to date.

You will have heard the news regarding Novel

Coronavirus on the television, radio or social media. A

number of students have mentioned their concern for

people in the impacted areas which was great to see.

The Department of Education provides regular advice

and health updates for schools in relation to Novel

Coronavirus. Please contact me if you

would like any additional information.

This coming Tuesday we have a free production from Brainstorm. Here’s a write up of the show... A unique wellbeing resource that gives students knowledge, confidence and resilience to cope with negative feelings and unhealthy messages from advertising and the media. This exciting adventure story inspires students to take responsibility for their own behaviour and wellbeing. Cal and Mindi are accidentally transported from the safety of the 'H Zone' and left without their positive mindsets. Peer pressure and social media make Mindi anxious and competitive. Cal becomes isolated and obsessed with junk food and aggressive video games. Struggling with low self-esteem, they succumb to bullying and excessive screen time. They must learn to critically evaluate the media, stand up to bullying and make good decisions. The H Team fosters teamwork, impulse control, and resilience, to create healthy and harmonious school

communities. An interactive song reinforces the positive message.
