3rd annual Egon J. Salmon and Family Commemoration of
Kristallnacht and the St. Louis Young Refugee Voices, Then and Now
Jane Marks Hart, journalist and author, The Hidden Children: Secret Survivors of the Holocaust, a ground-
breaking series of interviews on youth and trauma in Nazi Europe
that inspired her to work with other at-risk youth in shelters and
prisons. This dialogue will explore how the Holocaust affected youth
and children and our concerns today. Kosher Refreshments

Voices/Voci: Italians who came to America fleeing Fascism
Gianna Pontercoboli, Italian-born journalist, UN Correspondent and author, Americordo: The Italian Jewish Exiles in America
Forced to leave by rising persecution, one thousand Italian Jews came to America, to continue their work from mathematics to music. Pontercoboli retraces their strategies to find a visa, to weave networks of support and to confront fascism and anti-fascism in the U.S. Four of those who remained in America won the Nobel prize, while others built enduring bridges between America and Italy.
