-Manual Therapy, a specialty area within musculoskeletal or orthopaedic physiotherapy is aimed at using hands-on techniques for evaluation and treatment of painful conditions utilizing a tissue-specific approach. Manual therapy is also globally recognized as a stand-alone method for curing musculoskeletal dysfunctions using articular (joints), myofascial (muscles) and neural (nerves).

Ans.;- YES; a needs assessment survey was done regionally among all nearby physiotherapy colleges and their opinion were pooled to strategise the development of BPT and MPT courses and their respective curricula.

42. Does the department obtain feedback from

a. Faculty on curriculum as well as teaching-learning-evaluation? If yes, how does the department utilize the feedback?

• Yes; suggestions and feedbacks from the faculty members regarding the teaching – learning evaluation of the curricular and clinical postings are taken in staff meetings conducted twice a month.

• Quarterly meetings are conducted by the Board of Studies of MMIPR, which includes the faculty members of each specialty. The agenda for these meetings is to discuss about the curriculum of Undergraduate and Post graduate programs functional at MMIPR.

• The feedback reports are used to improve the lacking services and to overcome the limitation of the institute.

• Feedbacks by the various faculties are utilized by discussing about new opportunities for learning and developing skills of the students.

• For Students on staff, curriculum and teaching-learning evaluation is done by conducting Mentor meeting twice a month by each mentor in which feedback from the students is taken.

• Department utilizes the feedback by taking the action regarding any complaint during mentor-meeting and after that satisfactory letter is also taken from the students if they are satisfied by the action taken.

• Yes; the department does take the feedback from alumni and employers regularly on the programmes offered and keeping into consideration their valuable suggestions, it plans and executes the ideas accordingly for the benefit of the Institute.

Ans. There are various methods adopted by faculty for different programmes which are as following:

• Blackboard and chalk method. • OHP method. • Power point presentation, • Seminar method. • Active learning by assignments. • Group discussion. • Practical demonstration. • Live case presentation and discussion.

46. How does the department ensure that programme objectives are constantly met and learning outcomes are monitored?

Ans. Objectives of B.P.T and M.P.T are met this is evaluated by regular evaluation of the students

• By taking their feedback during mentor meetings conducted twice a month, • Regular staff meetings in which feedback from the staff is taken and learning outcomes

are monitored through sessional exams. • IQAC ensures the quality of infrastructure and the various equipments and also keeps a

check on over all development process of the institute. • Academic Audit done twice a year to ensure the quality of teaching and learning

outcome. • Course file of every faculty is checked by Principal monthly. • During case assessment and their treatment planning during clinical postings. • By keeping monthly attendance record, and their sessional marks record.

Ans.

• MMIPR faculty and students are participating in collaboration with the other medical departments of the University for outpatient camps regularly on monthly basis.

• On academic front there is active participation of students and faculty members of MMIPR in various workshops, seminars and conferences organized at the national and international levels.

• The faculty and the students are also providing their efficient clinical services at sports complex of MM University in various sports events organized by the university.

• There is also enthusiastic involvement of students and faculty members in various cultural events on different occasions.

• A total of 16 committees are formed at inter and intra departmental level which are functioning together with the help of faculty and students for the upliftment of the MMIPR department and helping to resolve the issues of the students on the academic and personal front.

• Institute has involved in various national development programme. Recently the student and faculty of institute contributed the fund for Nepal.

STRENGTHS OF THE DEPARTMENT a) Academic- 2 Experienced Faculty members at professor rank are present and there is an availability of Faculty members in all the speciality branches. b) Clinical- Multispecialitytreatment facilities are available for patients and interdisciplinary collaboration of department is there which helps in more effective treatment plans for patients. c) Research- One Faculty at Professor rank is P.hD holder (Principal, MMIPR) and one Faculty member at Assistant Professor rank is undergoing P.hD (registered in July 2012). d) Administrative- BPT course is approved by Indian association of Physiotherapy (IAP). Regular audits (self) and inspections are held within the department for its betterment. Supportive management is there. e) Nation building/ Social Entrepreneurship- Support from non-government organisations is provided to the department for its upgradation and better functioning in a coordinated manner.
