3 Ways to Stop Sabotaging Your
Success
How Can We Avoid Self-sabotage?
Cultivating mindful awareness of our behavior is key to avoiding the pitfalls of self-sabotage. The steps involved are the same as those I teach in my coaching on
finding one’s true purpose.
1. Meditate and reflect. Get quiet and connect to the present
moment. Acknowledge the critical inner voice whispering in
your ear, telling you that you can’t succeed.
2. Sit with a journal or piece of paper. Ask yourself: “What did I
do/not do to defeat my progress towards my goal?
3. Pay attention! Over time, the deep reasons behind your self-
doubt will be revealed. The truth might at first make you anxious
because it means challenging deeply engrained, old and familiar
attitudes that we’ve long held about ourselves.
