First is committed to listening to our customers and ensuring that you are at the forefront of our decisions. To make your journey easier and more comfortable, services are run with modern, easy access buses to assist customers with mobility problems and parents with small children in pushchairs. Free WiFi is available on board for your added convenience. Service X5 runs hourly between Swansea and Neath via via Briton Ferry. Service X8 provides an hourly link between Banwen, Seven Sisters, Neath, Skewen and Swansea running hourly. Service X7 provides an hourly link between Glynneath, Resolven, Tonna, Neath and Swansea. Services X7 & X8 run between Swansea and Neath every 30 minutes. Timetables in this publication are effective from 3 March 2019. What’s changed? X5 Swansea to Neath via Briton Ferry: Monday to Saturday timetable revised, plus an extra morning commuter journey to Swansea which continues to Gower College Swansea during term time to replace service 965. X7 Swansea City Bus Station to Glynneath via Neath Bus Station: Service X55 renumbered to X7 which, combined with new service X8 will create a 30 minute service between Swansea and Neath. X8 Swansea to Banwen via Neath: X58 Banwen journeys will be renumbered X8 and follow the current X7 route between Neath and Swansea. Waterfall Country - Nowhere else in Wales has the richness and diversity of waterfalls within such a small area as can be found in the Vale of Neath. In addition to the more accessible Melincourt and Aberdulais Falls, the deep gorges of the Rivers Mellte, Hepste and Nedd Fechan provide opportunities for the casual and more experienced walkers. Note of caution – some of the walks require proper care and preparation before and during your walk. Cefn Coed Colliery Museum - A magnificent steam winding engine, simulated gallery and fascinating display of mining tools and equipment are the highlights of this famous museum, housed in the original buildings of the former Cefn Coed Colliery. National Trust Aberdulais Falls - The industrial heritage of this area goes back to 1584, when copper was first manufactured. Iron smelting and corn milling followed, with a tinplate works being built around 1830. As well as powering industries for over 500 years, this magnificent waterfall inspired artist J M W Turner in 1795. Today the site houses Europe’s largest electricity generating water wheel. Neath - a historical market town and the central point for the five surrounding valleys. St David’s Church clock tower is a major landmark in the town. Next to the church are the elegant Victoria Gardens, complete with a 19th Century bandstand and a circle of standing stones erected for the 1918 National Eisteddfod. The town offers a range of shops and cafes, as well as access to the Neath Canal which runs through the market town. A visit to Neath cannot be complete without experiencing the indoormarket, selling fresh produce and traditional goods. It’s also the perfect place to grab a warm Welsh lamb baguette. Swansea - The birthplace of Dylan Thomas, Wales’ second largest city is situated within walking distance from the 5 mile sweep of Swansea Bay. Swansea has the largest indoor market in Wales, where you can sample and buy many local delicacies such as cockles and laverbread. It boasts an award winning Marina and Maritime Quarter and is home to the new National Waterfront Museum. An iconic 142m long Sail Bridge featuring a vast 40 metre high mast links the Maritime Quarter with the SA1 Swansea Waterfront Development. At the end of Swansea Bay is Mumbles, a Victorian seaside village full of character and deserving of its name as the ‘Gateway to Gower.’ The Pier is well worth a visit.
