Our gospel passage for this week is from Mark 10:46-52. This week, we celebrate the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time. In this week’s Gospel reading from Mark, we hear the story of a blind man named Bartimaeus. This man, a beggar, believed in Jesus so much that he begged Jesus to help him. Jesus saw Bartimaeus’ faith, had mercy on him, and healed him. Bartimaeus, able to see for himself, became a follower of Jesus!

Many times, in our lives, we are “blind” to things around us: to the needs of friends or the poor, to hurtful things we say or do, or to God’s many blessings in our lives. Let’s work on better knowing and loving Jesus Christ and one another so that our eyes may be opened to the truth!

For More Fun:

ü Read Mark 10:46-52 in your family bible. Discuss things that you may be “blind” to in your lives and how your eyes can be opened to the needs of those around you. As we continue the Year of Faith, pray the Creed (available at http://goo.gl/8y2Qu) as a family this week.
