THEME: FOLLOW ME

“Follow me,” Jesus says to a potential disciple he encounters on his journey to Jerusalem. “Follow me,” Elijah says (in

effect) to Elisha as he plowed his field. God’s call is a daunting invitation and demands a wholehearted commitment. Some

accept; others cannot bring themselves to commit. We too are called to be disciples, to live our lives according to the

gospel. “Follow me,” Jesus challenges us. How do we respond?

1 Kings 19:16b, 1921 Elisha left everything to inherit Elijah’s prophetic role.

Galatians 5:1, 1318 A proper use of freedom includes service to others, motivated

                  by love.

Luke 9:5162 Jesus expects us to leave everything to follow him.

THIS WEEK AT ICC

doors of the Church after all Masses to receive your

VOCATIONS

Jesus still speaks the invitation, “Come, follow Me!” If God

is calling you to priesthood or religious life, what is holding

you back? If God is calling you to a Church vocation,

call Father Andrew at 8475535. Check out the “Priest of

the Month” stories at www.buffalovocations.org.

THINK ABOUT IT

Even if we are subjected to harsh realities and intense

pains, for reasons unknown, these spiritual, mental or

physical hurts do not deny the reality of God’s abiding

love. It is our sacred covenant with the Lord to be loyal and

consistent in good times and in bad and to continue to

believe and profess God’s unconditional love for us.

EDUCATIONAL CORNER

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The devotion

begins with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. A priest

or deacon removes the sacred host from the tabernacle and

places it on the altar for adoration. The purpose of adoration

is to highlight the presence of Our Lord in the Eucharist.

When a consecrated host is placed in the monstrance, it is

said to be a solemn exposition. Adoration ceremonies

traditionally include Scripture readings, hymns, prayers,

and time for silent adoration.

“Of all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed

Sacrament is the greatest after the sacraments, the one

dearest to God and the one most helpful to us.”
