ABOUT THE EVENT

SADC Industrialiszation Week

The SADC industrilisation week will be co-hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry South Africa (dti) and the Department of International Relations and Corporation (DIRCO) on behalf of the South Africa government in partnership with the SADC Secretariat and the Southern Africa Business Forum (SABF). The SADC Industrialisation Week is an annual regional public-private engagement platform aimed at fostering new opportunities for intra-regional trade and investment.

The second SADC Industrialisation Week takes place from Monday, 10 July 2017 to Friday 14 July 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The event will be hosted a month before the SADC Heads of State and Government Summit which will present participating delegates with the opportunity to provide recommendations that will be presented at the Summit in August 2017.

The SADC Industrialisation Week format features keynote addresses from high profile speakers on a wide range of themes and topics; panel discussions with industry experts and project owners; break-away sessions of key topical concern; an exhibition day; matchmaking for SMEs as well as evening diners and cocktail parties.

The initiative has government support from all 15 Members’ States and invites participation form all stakeholders within the SADC region. The SADC Industrialisation Week is the official channel for:

• disseminatinginformationontheIndustrializationStrategyandRoadmap;

• commemoratingtheAfricaIndustrializationDayintheregion;

• intensifyingtheengagementanddevelopmentofpartnershipswithdevelopmentpartnersandotherpartiestopromotetheSADCIndustrializationStrategyatnationaland

regionallevel;and• activelyengagingpolicymakers,privatesector,

academia,researchersandotherkeystakeholdersinpolicydialoguetoenhanceworkonindustrializationatbothnationalandregionallevel.
