Drama News The annual Junior Drama Club performance night which took place last Friday evening was a great success. Fi y‐two Year 8 and 9 students took to the stage with great energy and enthusiasm and thoroughly entertained their audience with a variety of performance works. This year’s program of performances ranged from group‐devised skits, to performance poetry and alterna ve takes on tradi onal fairy‐tales. The girls put a lot of hours into preparing for this performance evening and are to be applauded for their effort and commitment. They were impeccable on the night in terms of their general behaviour and conduct and we are very proud of them. Their performances were very well received by the audience.
Junior Drama Club has been running since the beginning of Term One with weekly workshops held on Friday a ernoons, which have been organised and led by the Senior Drama Council. This has been quite a huge undertaking and the Senior Drama Council Members including Sonia Badrak, Christy Costanzo, Grace Murphy, Abby Page, Kiera Quinn and Georgia Terry and extra support members including Bri any Anderson, Eliza Batchelor, Lauren Crapnell, Sophie McAdam, Caroline Mastry, Adelise Moore, Courtney Pennington‐Jones and Madeline Pra under the competent leadership of Senior Drama Council Leader, Bernade e Jarvis should be applauded for the commitment and effort they have invested in helping to make this year’s Junior Drama Club such an enjoyable experience for the par cipants.
On behalf of Mrs Kerry Williams, I would like to personally thank Mrs Rosemary O’Neill and Miss Zoey Grills for the support they gave to the girls, par cularly in the lead up to the performance evening. I would also like to thank and acknowledge Mr Terry Cu s and Mr Chris Henry for providing us with technical support crew. Tech Crew leader Aishling Briody along with her band of helpers ensured that the Junior Drama Club performers truly took the spotlight on the night.
Finally, I’d like to thank the parents for your ongoing support with our Junior Drama Club program. Your assistance and coopera on with ensuring that your daughters were picked up every Friday a ernoon and your assistance and support in the lead up to the Performance Evening, including providing a plate of food to contribute to supper and helping to prepare and serve supper, was greatly appreciated. Thank you also for your a endance last Friday night and for your posi ve feedback.
We look forward to welcoming you all to next year’s annual

The Year 12 girls are looking forward to their Formal with eager an cipa on. This will be a special occasion for the seniors and certainly a highlight of their final year at the College. A le er has already gone home about the evening and our expecta ons to ensure a happy, safe and memorable evening is had by all. A reminder that the seniors will be allowed to leave the College at 12.27pm on Friday, July 29. If an absence occurs on that day, it is presumed that your daughter will be too unwell to a end the Formal that evening.
The girls have been fully briefed about expecta ons of partners and behaviour and we ask that parents support us by escor ng their daughters and partners to the venue at 6.30pm and then picking them up at 11.30pm. No one will be allowed to leave the venue before this me. We again remind you that the girls do not need addi onal forms of transport to get them to and from the venue.
Whilst the College does not support the girls a ending ‘post par es’, we are fully aware that these celebra ons occur. The responsibility for the safety of the girls is paramount and we urge you to ensure planned and careful supervision so as to avoid any poten al harm. It is mely to remind parents about the issue of alcohol consump on by underage drinkers and that episodes of binge drinking can seriously harm the health of your daughters. Please speak with your daughters to ensure their safety.
We look forward to sharing this special occasion with your daughters and we hope that each girl has a most enjoyable evening that she will fondly remember for the years to
come. Annie Diamond – Year 12 Coordinator

Cybersafety ‐ An excellent website established by Ivanhoe Grammar School to address the many Cybersafety concerns of parents and students was established at the end of last year h p://icybersafe.com/ . This website is extremely comprehensive and contains some excellent resources and informa on about cybersafety and online behaviour for yourselves and your daughters. One of the key areas that I would like to bring your a en on to is the concept of ‘Digital Ci zenship’. We usually have a good idea of what makes a good ci zen and children could quite easily list the a ributes of someone whom we would place in this category. However, some mes online behaviour does not reflect the standards that we would expect of adults and children in our normal social environment. Along with the many privileges and benefits that the online world can bring us, it also carries with it a responsibility to behave in a socially acceptable, responsible and lawful manner. It is easy to forget that the digital world is extremely far reaching and immediate and that things said and done online can have a vast audience and remain online for a very long me. The following are headings on which responsible digital ci zenship are based. For more details please visit the icybersafe website.
1. Digital E que e: electronic standards of conduct or procedure.
2. Digital Communica on: electronic exchange of informa on.
3. Digital Literacy: process of teaching and learning about technology and the use of technology.
4. Digital Access: full electronic par cipa on in society.
5. Digital Commerce: electronic buying and selling of goods.
6. Digital Law: electronic responsibility for ac ons and deeds.
7. Digital Rights & Responsibili es: those freedoms extended to everyone in a digital world.
8. Digital Health & Wellness: physical and psychological well‐being in a digital technology world.
9. Digital Security (self‐protec on): electronic precau ons to guarantee safety. Gavin Swanson ‐ Deputy Principal ‐ ICT

We felt very honoured and privileged to meet him in his office at Parliament House a er Ques on Time, especially considering he had only flown in from China that morning and had a parliamentary si ng all day. To put aside me for us in his hec c schedule was truly appreciated. Jemma Stubbs was the finisher, ne ng a bag of 5 spectacular goals for the match, thanks to great support from our forward line and Katherine Ware at right half. Elise Gellweiler revelled at right inner with some powerful shots in the circle yielding 2 more goals. Defence was solid thanks to great marking by Tyler Kilvington at le half and the impenetrable barrier put up by Victoria “The Wall” Jeffs at full back. Isabel Mowen acted as the general at the back, direc ng some fantas c play thanks to some very insigh ul passing and accurate free hits from within our own half. Full credit goes to Clare Griffiths who volunteered to guard the goal box this game and limited the opposi on’s score card to 4 goals thanks to some great saves. The end result was a very sa sfying 7 ‐ 4 victory to us against Brigidine, our first win of what I am sure will be many for the trimester. Nice
