TRIDUUM - THE THREE DAYS - AND EASTER: the high holy days of Christians. This is the week we are encouraged to set aside our busy-ness and immerse ourselves in the path from Gethsemane to glory. Here we have the opportunity to zero in on those things which define our faith: our call to love and serve one another and to share Eucharist at one table (Holy Thursday); the meaning of the Cross (Good Friday); the stories and songs of salvation promises, welcoming new members and recalling our own baptismal vows with its promise of our own (Easter Vigil). If you have never experienced this feast in its wholeness, perhaps this is the year to make time. "Therefore let us celebrate the feast, with sincerity and truth." (1Cor. 5:8)

UMBRELLAS AND CALENDARS NEEDED Newly arriving refugees are acclimating to more than just the snow when they arrive. In addition to all the other things needed when they arrive, umbrellas and 2015 calendars would be a great help to them. Umbrellas are handy year-round as many refugees rely on public transportation and walking to get around. Calendars help refugees learn about making appointments and keeping a calendar to encourage habits for success in America. If you have these items to share, please call (540) 342-7561 or deliver them to Commonwealth Catholic Charities, 820 Campbell Avenue. BAKE IT FORWARD SALEM A cooperative project of Salem Area Ecumenical Ministries and the Salem Food Pantry. This project enables you to share your baking talents and favorite recipes in Christian love with those in need in our community. See the bulletin board by the hospitality kitchen for suggestions of homemade items needed and the times and places for delivery. For further information, contact Karen Adams at College Lutheran Church 389-4963 or [email protected].
