ENGLISH LANGUAGEREADING We are learning to develop our reciprocal reading skills

through… Focussing on prediction through the use of illustrations,

titles and headings, blurbs, context pages, vocabulary and clues in previous chapters.

Clarifying by using pictures, context, clues from the root/suffix/prefix of the word and looking for clues from the word type.

Use place value to partition large numbers and numbers to one decimal place.

Say and write decimal numbers and explain how they may be used.

SHAPE We are learning to Recognise and name a range of 2D shapes including

regular and irregular polygons. Describe the features of a range of shapes and objects

using language such as side, vertex, face and edge. Recognise the nets of shapes construct shapes from

Encourage your child to access Sumdog at home as much as possible.

Encourage your child to identify 3D shapes in the local environment or around the house and discuss their different features.

Support your child with their maths homework tasks. Ask your child to partition large numbers e.g. 123 444 =

100 0000, 20 000, 3000, 400, 40 and 4.
