Volleyball Drill-Book: Beginner (Level) 40 2012 © Dr. Christian Kröger FIVB Instructor I/II- GER Drills under simplified conditions Equipment: Every player is holding one ball - 3.3 Setting - Teaching Points: Make sure that the players have a sturdy stand in the moment of catching the ball Start with short distances Always make sure that the hands are in the correct position Drill Objective: Creation of movement concept concerning the correct position of the body and the basket formed with the hands and fingers Drill Variations: The players throw the ball with high speed on the floor run after the descending ball and catch it in the basket-position The players throw the ball with high speed on the floor, perform an extra task (body rotation, hands on the floor, clapping, etc) and catch the ball in the basket- position Throw the ball across the net and catch it afterwards Roll the ball over the fingers of your hand while the arm is fully stretched. The consequence is that the ball has a backspin (alternately use the left and right arm) Drill Description: The players have to throw the ball forward and proceed with running after the descending ball. Next they have to halt in the correct position. During the whole drill the hands are held above the heads of the players. In the last sequence they have to form a basket with their hands and fingers in order to catch the ball in the playing-position. A A
