From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the

Immaculate Virgin Mary.

Stewardship & Giving

33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time: “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much…” (Matthew 25:21). God expects us to nurture and develop the gifts He has given us and then generously give back with increase. He doesn’t want us to waste or hoard the gifts He has given us; He expects us to grow our gifts, use them wisely and be generous with them.

.................................. Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31: The virtue of the admirable woman depicted is not so much her skill or ability as it is her cleverness in turning her talents to good ends. Any notion of her as a pretty object is rejected. She is praiseworthy because she fears the Lord. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, her most precious virtue.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-6: It is our duty to live in such a way that it makes no difference when the Lord returns. Since we are children of the daylight, it is impossible for us to be caught off guard by the “thief in the night.” If we are truly eager for the Lord’s return, we should take comfort in the possibility that we hasten it by making the world a better place.

Matthew 25:14-30: The third servant, who buried his talent, had a suspicion that he was not taking the most commendable course. He knew that he was acting out of timidity and fear but chose to continue on that course rather than risk what little he had. The monstrous irony is that he does lose everything after all. If this timid soul had acted honestly in innocence and naivete, he surely would have been treated more sympathetically.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) - Working on the Margins

Pope Francis impels us to “never tire of working for a more just world, marked by greater solidarity!” Often, we want to respond to the call but don’t know where to begin. One way each of us can stand by our sisters and brothers who are poor and vulnerable is by supporting the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. The U.S. Catholic bishops founded CCHD to end the cycle of poverty in the United States by funding organizations that help people to help themselves. Over 46.5 million people in our country are living below the poverty line. In some communities in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, poverty afflicts almost one in every four people! Last year, your support for CCHD tackled the root causes of poverty by helping over 3,500 local individuals of all ages change their lives through employment, job skills training, critical educational opportunities, and leadership training for the betterment of our neighborhoods. Archbishop Dennis Schnurr urges our continued support for CCHD and the good work it generates. “Every parishioner who makes the choice to give to CCHD on Collection weekend,” he says, “becomes a part of this large family, which is building a new reality reflective of the Kingdom of the God.” Together, we can be faith in action and make a difference. Please prayerfully & generously consider how you will give on Collection Weekend, Nov 23rd. Visit www.usccb.org/cchd to learn more. Also check out the Archdiocesan CCHD website for more local information: www.catholiccincinnati.org/socialaction.

residents lying on part of the sheet and then folding the rest over themselves for warmth. Something a little different for November...blankets (all sizes), new or gently used, are desperately needed. Contact Margie/Tom Hudnell, [email protected], or 429-0320.

PARKING NEAR CHAPEL: 1) We have some senior QACers who are not as physically able as the rest of us and need a little help getting to the chapel on Sunday mornings, and most especially as the weather gets colder. It would be a great courtesy if we could leave some parking spaces available for them in the small lot across from the circle. The rest of us can use the lot on the other side of the chapel or park in the lot below the chapel. Our seniors would much appreciate the courtesy.

2) Please do not park in the circle near that chapel that is marked a ‘Fire Lane.’ In case of an emergency, the responders would be unable to get through to the chapel. Sign is clearly posted for the fire lane. Also, please do not park on the roadway outside the designated parking lots.

QAC DAY STORIES: A number of our members would very much like to have taken a more active role in the Be the Church Day activities, but were unable to do so for various reasons. We’d very much like to know which organizations/individuals you helped, what you did and how you enjoyed the experience. Ken Moran mentioned that QACers were involved with at least 13 different projects. Perhaps you would be willing to send a short paragraph of your experiences to our SPIRIT editors to include in the December issue of the SPIRIT. Please don’t procrastinate. While the adventure is still fresh in your memory, jot down a few notes and send them of to the SPIRIT editor at [email protected]. We’d love to read about!!

Come at 2:30 PM to participate in a free workshop on “Sketchbook Journaling” offered by Marianist artists who have their art on display in the current “Marianist Invitational” exhibit in the Gallery. PUTTING ON CHRIST: A STUDY OF THE LETTER TO THE COLOSSIANS: Wednesday, Nov

19th, 7:00 PM. Presented by Fr. Satish Joseph, the letter of St. Paul to the Colossians was

written to encourage the Colossian Christian community to stay true to their newfound faith in

Christ. There were plenty of distractions which arose from the teaching of detractors who

emphasized angels, astral powers, and cultic practices. Paul insists that these detract from the

person and work of Christ. For Paul, Christ contains all the powers one needs for

redemption. This session will help us focus on the uncompromising nature of our faith in Jesus

and in His saving power! Immaculate Conception Parish, Msgr. Sherman Hall, (lower level of

the church reached through the ramp door on south side in back). Call (937) 252-9919.

ON BEING A GRANDPARENT: My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I

was, and I told him, ‘62.’ My grandson was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, "Did you start at 1?"

After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings.

As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, "Who was THAT?"

A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like. "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods."

The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!"

My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?" I mentally polished my halo and I said, "No, how are we alike?''

"You're both old," he replied.

VOCATION VIEWS

“Since you have been faithful in small matters, you will be given greater responsibility.” To follow the Lord is to slowly grow in the love of the Lord, practicing small steps of

virtue in order to grow to a vibrant faith in Christ. (Matthew 25:14-30)

Please pray for vocations to the lay ministries, priesthood, diaconate, and dedicated religious life.
