You alone we worship,

And You alone

We ask for help.

AlBaqarahIn the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

1. Alif. Lam. Mim.

2. This is the Bookabout which there is nodoubt, a guidance forthose who fear(Allah).

3. Those who believen the unseen, and

establish prayer, andspend out of what wehave provided for them.

4. And those whobelievein that which hasbeen revealed to you(Muhammad) and thatwhich was revealed beforeyou, and they are certainof the Hereafter.

5. Those areon (true) guidancefrom their Lord. And it isthose who are the successful.

6. Certainly, those whodisbelieve, it is the sameto them

whether you (O Muhammad)warn them, or do not warnthem, they will not believe.

7. Allah has set a seal upontheir hearts, and upon theirhearing, and on their eyes there

s a covering. And for them is agreat punishment.

8. And among mankindthere are some who say: Webelieve in Allah and in the LastDay, while they believe not.

9.They deceive Allah andthose who believe, andthey do not deceive except themselves,and they perceive (it) not.

10. In their hearts is adisease, then Allah increased

their disease. And for them isa painfulpunishment becausethey used to lie.

11. And when it is said tothem:Do not cause corruptionon the earth, they say: We are

reformersonly.

12. Beware, it is they whoare the corruptors, but theyperceive (it) not.

13. And when it is said tothem: Believe as the people

have believed, they say:Should we believe as thefoolish have believed.Beware,t is they who are the foolish,but they know(it) not.

14. And when they meet those who believe, they say:We believe, and when theyare alone with their evil ones,they say: Indeed we are withyou, we wereonly mocking.

15. Allah (Himself) mocks atthem, and He prolongs them

n their transgression, (while)they wander blindly.

16. Those are the oneswho purchased error forguidance, so their transactionhas brought no profit, norwerethey guided.

17. Their example is as theexample of one whokindleda fire, then when it lightedall around him, Allah tookaway their light and leftthem in darkness, so theycannot see.

18. Deaf, dumb, blind, so theywill not return(to right path).

19. Or like a rainstorm fromthe sky, wherein is darkness, and thunder, and

ightning. They thrust theirfingers in their ears againstthe thunderclaps, for fearof death. And Allah isencompassingthe disbelievers.

20. The lightning almostsnatches away their sight.whenever it lights up (the way)for them, they walk therein.And when darkness comesupon them, they stand still. Andf Allah willed, He could have

taken away their hearing, andtheir sight. Certainly, Allah haspower over all things.

21. O mankind, worshipyour Lord, who created youand those before you, so thatyou may become righteous.

22. He who made the eartha resting place for you, andthe sky a canopy, and Hesent down water (rain) fromthe sky, then brought forththereby fruits as provisionfor you. So do not attribute

equals to Allah, while youknow(it).

23. And if you are in doubt about that which We sentdown (the Quran) to Ourservant (Muhammad), then

produce a surah the likethereof, and call your witnessesbesides Allah ifyou aretruthful.

24. So if you do not, andyou can never do (it), thenfear the Fire, whose fuel is

people and stones, preparedfor the disbelievers.

25. And give good tidings to those who believe and dorighteous deeds, that for themare Gardensunderneathwhichrivers flow. Whenever they areprovided with a provision offruit there from, they will say:This is what we wereprovided with before, and theywill be given this inresemblance. And for them willbe therein pure companions.

And they will abide thereinforever.

26. Certainly, Allahdisdainsnot to describe the example ofthat of a mosquito,or of thateven more insignificant thanthis. So as for those who

believe, theyknow that this isthe truth from their Lord.And as for those whodisbelieve, they say: What didAllah intend by this as anexample. He misleads many

thereby, and He guides manythereby. And He misleads not thereby except those whoare disobedient.

27. Those who break thecovenant of Allah afterratifying it, and sever thatwhich Allah has ordered tobe joined, and they causecorruption on the earth. Its those who are the losers.

28. How can you disbelieven Allah when you were dead,and He gave you life. Then Hewill give you death, then(again) He will bring you toife, then to Himyou will return.

29. He it is Who created for you all that ison the earth.Then turned He to the heaven,andmade them seven heavens.And He is the All knower of

every thing.30. And when your Lord said to the angels: Indeed,Iwill make a vicegerent uponthe earth. They said: Willyou place upon it one whowill cause corruption therein,and will shed blood, while weglorify Your praise andsanctify You. He said: Surely, I know that whichyou know not.

31. And He taught Adamallthe names, then He showedthem to the angels and said:Inform Me of the names ofthese, ifyou aretruthful.

32. They said: Glory be toYou, we have no knowledgeexcept that which You havetaught us. Indeed, it is You, the All Knower, the All Wise.

33. He said: O Adam, inform

them of their names. Thenwhen he had informed themof their names, He said: Did

not say to you that I knowthe unseen of the heavensand the earth. And I know thatwhich you reveal and that

which you conceal.34. And when We said to theangels: Prostrate beforeAdam, so they prostrated,except Iblis. He refused, andwas arrogant, and he becameof the disbelievers.

35. And We said: O Adam,dwell, you and your wife in theGarden, and eat there from inabundance, from wherever youwill. But come not near thistree, lest you becomeamong the

wrongdoers.

36. Then Satan made them slipfrom there, and caused them tobe expelled from the state inwhich they had been. And Wesaid: Go down, one of youas enemy to the other. Andthere shall be for you onearth a dwelling place andprovision for a time.

37. Then Adamreceived fromhis Lord words (of revelation),and He accepted his repentance.

ndeed, He is the One Whoforgives (accepts repentance),the Most Merciful.

38. We said: Go down, all ofyou, from here.Then wheneverthere comes to you a guidancefrom Me, and whoever followsMy guidance, then there shallbe no fear upon them, nor shall they grieve.

39. And those who disbelieve,and they deny Our revelations,those are the companions of

the Fire. They will abidetherein forever.

40 O Children of Israel,remember My favor which Ibestowed upon you, and fulfillMy covenant (with you), Ishall fulfill (My obligations to)your covenant. And fear Me.

41. And believe in that whichhave sent down, confirming

that which is (already) withyou, and be not the first todisbelieve in it, and do nottrade my verses for a small

price, and be mindful of Me.42. And do not mix the truthwith falsehood, or conceal thetruth while you know(it).

43. And establish the prayer,and givethe poor due, and bow

with those who bow down (inworship).

44. Do you enjoin therighteousness upon mankindand you forget yourselves,while you recite the Scripture.

Have you then no sense.45. And seek help throughpatienceand prayer. And truly,t is hard except for thosewhohumbly submit(to Allah).

46. Those who are certain thatthey will meet their Lord, andthat to Himthey will return.

47. O Children of Israel,remember My favor which

bestowed upon you, andthat I preferred you overthe worlds (people).

48. And fear a Day (when)nosoul will avail another soul atall, nor will intercession be

accepted from it, nor willcompensation be taken from it,norwill they be helped.

49. And when We saved you from Pharaoh's people, whowere afflicting you with

dreadful torment, slaughteringyour sons, and keeping yourwomen alive. And in that wasa great trial from your Lord.

50. And when We partedthe sea for you, then Wesaved you and drowned the

people of Pharaoh while youwere looking on.

51. And when We did appointfor Moses forty nights. Thenyou took the calf in hisabsence, and you were wrongdoers.

52. Then We forgave you,even after that, so that youmight be grateful.

53. And when We gave Mosesthe Scripture, and the criterionthat you might be guided.

54. And whenMosessaid to hispeople: O my people, indeed,you have wronged yourselvesbyyour taking the calf (forworship),so turn inrepentanceto your Creator, and kill (theguilty among) yourselves.Thatwill be better for you with yourCreator. Then He acceptedyour repentance.Certainly, Hes the One Who acceptsrepentance, the Most Merciful.

55. And when you said: O

Moses, we will never believeyouuntil we see Allah plainly. Sothethunderboltseized you whileyou were looking on.

56. Then We raised you upafter your death, so that youmight be grateful.

57. And We caused the cloudsto overshadow you,and We sent

down on you the manna and thequails, (saying): Eat of thegood thingswith which We haveprovided you. And theywronged Us not, but they didwrongto themselves.

58. And when We said: Enternto this township, then eattherein wherever you will toyour hearts content, and enterthe gate inprostration, and say:Forgive us, We will forgiveyou your sins, and We will

ncreasefor those who do good.59. Then those who did wrongchanged (the words)toa sayingother than that which had beensaid to them, so We sent downupon those who wronged aplague from the heaven becausethey were disobeying.

60. And when Moses askedfor water for his people, soWe said: Strike with yourstick the rock. Then theregushed forth from it twelvesprings. Each (tribe of) peopleknew their drinking place. Eat and drink from theprovision of Allah, and do notmake mischief in the earth,spreading corruption.

61. And when you said: OMoses, we can never endureupon one(kind of) food. So callupon your Lord for us, that Hebring forth for us of that whichthe earth grows, of its herbs,and its cucumbers, and its corn,and its lentils, and its onions.He said: Would you exchangethat which is lower for thatwhich is better. Go down to asettled country, then indeed,

you will have that which youhave asked for. And theywere covered with humiliationand misery, and they drew onthemselves the wrath fromAllah.That was because theydisbelieved in the signs of

Allah, and killed the prophetsunjustly. That wasbecause theydisobeyed and used totransgress the bounds (ofAllah).

62. Certainly, those who believe

(in the Quran),and those whoare J ews, and Christians, andSabaeans, whoever believed inAllah and the Last Dayanddidrighteous deeds,shall then havetheir reward with their Lord,and there shall beno fear upon

them, nor shall they grieve.

63. And when We took yourcovenant and We raised aboveyou the Mount,(saying): Holdthat which We have given toyou firmly, and remember thatwhich is therein, so that youmay become righteous.

64. Then you turned awayafter that. So if it had not beenfor the grace of Allah upon youand His mercy, you would havebeen among the losers.

65. And indeed, you knewthose who transgressed in theSabbath amongst you. So Wesaid to them: Be you apes,despised.

66. Then We made this anexamplefor those who werepresent, and those whosucceeded them, and anadmonition for the righteous.

67. And when Moses said tohis people: Indeed, Allah

commands you that youslaughtera cow. They said: Doyou take us in ridicule. Hesaid: I seek refuge in Allah,that I should be among thegnorant.

68. They said: Call uponyourLord for us that He maymake clear to us what (cow) its. He(Moses)said: Verily, He (Allah) says, it is a cowneither old nor virgin,(but)median between that. So dowhat you are commanded.

69. They said: Call uponyourLord for us that He may makeclear to us what its coloris.He(Moses) said: Verily, He

(Allah) says, it is a yellowcow, bright in its color,pleasingto the beholders.

70. They said: Call upon yourLord for us that He maymake clear to uswhat(cow)it

s. In fact, cowsare much aliketo us. And surely, if Allah wills, we will be guided.

71. He (Moses) said: Verily, He (Allah) says, it is a cow, neither yoked to plow theand, nor to irrigate the crops.

Whole, without blemish on it.They said: Now you havecome with the truth. So theyslaughtered it, though theyalmost did not do (it).

72. And when youkilled a man,then disputed over it. And Allahwas (bound) to bring forth thatwhich you were hiding.

73. So We said: Strike him

(the slain man)with a part of it(the slaughtered cow). ThusAllah brings to life the dead, and He shows you His signsso that you may understand.

74. Then after that your heartsbecame hardened, so they being

ike rocks, or even worse inhardness. And indeed, of therocks are that, out of whichrivers gush forth. And indeed, of them (rocks) are that, whichsplit open so the water comesout from them.And indeed,ofthem (rocks) are that, whichfall down for fear of Allah. AndAllah is not unaware of whatyou do.

75. Do you have any hope thatthey would believein you, and

ndeed there was a factionamong them who used to listento the word of Allah (Torah),then they used to change it, evenafter they had understood it,while they were knowing.

76. And when they(J ews)meetwith those who believe, theysay: We have believed. Andwhen they are alone, with oneanother, they say: Do you tellthem of what Allah hasdisclosed to you, that they(Muslims) mayargue with you about it before your Lord. Haveyou then no understanding.

77. Do they not knowthat Allahknows that which theyconceal,

and that which they proclaim.78. And among them arelliterates, who do not knowthe Scripture, except wishfulthinking. And they do nothingbut conjecture.

79. Then woe beto those who write the Scripture with theirown hands, then they say,This is from Allah, thatthey may sell it for a smallprice. Woe be to them forthat which their hands have

written, and woe be to themfor that which they earn.

80. And they say: Never willthe Fire touch us, except for acertain number ofdays. Say (OMuhammad): Have you takena covenant with Allah, so thatAllah will not break Hiscovenant. Or doyou say aboutAllah what you do not know.

81. Nay, but whoever hasearned evil, and his sin hassurrounded him.Then such arethe companions of the Fire.

They will abidetherein forever.

82. And those who believe anddo righteous deeds, such arethe companions of the Garden.They will abidetherein forever.

83. And when We took a

covenant from the Children ofsrael, (saying): Do not

worship (any) except Allah,and be good to parents,and the kindred, and theorphans, and the needy, andspeak good to mankind, andestablish prayer, and give thepoor due. Then you turnedaway, except a few among you,while you arebacksliders.

84. And when We took yourcovenant, (saying): Do notshed your (each others) blood,nor expel yourselves (oneanother) from your homes.Then you acknowledged, andyou area witness(to it).

85. Then, you arethosewho killyourselves(one another), andyou expel a factionof you (yourpeople) from their homes,supporting (one another)

against them by sin andtransgression. And if they cometo you as captives, you wouldransom them, although theirexpulsion was forbidden to you. Then do you believe in part ofthe Scripture, and disbelieve

you in part. Then what is therecompenseofthose who do so among you, except disgrace inthe life of the world, and onthe Day of Resurrection theywill be sent back to the severest

of punishment. And Allah is notunawareof what you do.

86. Such are those who havebought the life of the world(in exchange) for the Hereafter.So the punishment will not beightened from them, nor will

they be helped.

87. And certainly, We gaveMoses the Scripture, andfollowed up after him with asuccession of messengers. AndWe gaveJ esus, son of Mary,clear signs, and We supportedhim with the Holy spirit. Is itthat, whenever there came toyou a messenger (from Allah)with that which you yourselvesdesired not, you were arrogant.Then a group you disbelieved,

andanother groupyou killed.88. And they say: Our heartsare covered over. Nay, butAllah has cursed themfor theirdisbelief. So little is that whichthey believe.

89. And when there came tothem a Book (the Quran)fromAllah, confirming that which iswith them, though before thatthey used to ask for a victory over those who disbelieved.Then when there came to them

that which they recognized (tobe the truth),they disbelieved int. So the curse ofAllah is uponthe disbelievers.

90. How evil is thatfor which they have sold their own selves,that they would disbelieve inthat which Allah has revealed(the Quran), grudging thatAllah would send down of Hisfavor upon whom He wills fromamong His servants. So theyhave drawn on themselveswrath upon wrath. And for thedisbelievers there is ahumiliating punishment.

91. And when it is said to them:Believein that which Allah hasrevealed, they say: We believen that which was revealed tous. And they disbelieve in thatwhich came after it, though it isthe truth confirming that which

s with them. Say (OMuhammad): Then why didyou kill the prophets of Allahbefore, if you are believers.

92. And certainly,Mosescameto you with clear signs, then you

took the calf(for worship) afterhe was away, and you werewrongdoers.

93. And when We took yourcovenant, and We raised theMount above you, (saying):Hold firmly to that which Wehave given you, and hear(OurWord). They said: We hearand we disobey. And theirhearts absorbed (the worshipof) the calf because of theirdisbelief. Say: Evil is thatwhich your faith enjoins onyou, if you are believers.

94. Say: If the home of theHereafter with Allah isexclusively for you, instead of(other) people, then wish fordeath, if you aretruthful.

95. Andnever will they wish for

t, ever, because of that whichtheir own hands have sentforth. And Allah is All Awareof the wrongdoers.

96. And you will surely findthem the most greedy ofmankind for life, and (even)more than those who associatepartners (to Allah). Everyoneof them wishes if he could begiven life ofa thousand years.But it would not removehimn the least from thepunishment, even(the grant) ofa life. And Allah is All Seer ofwhat they do.

97. Say (O Muhammad):Whoever is an enemy toGabriel, for indeed he hasbrought it (the Quran) down toyour heart by Allah'spermission, confirming thatwhich was (revealed)before it,

and a guidance and gladtidings for the believers.

98. Whoever is an enemy toAllah, and His angels, and Hismessengers, and Gabriel, andMichael, then indeed, Allah is

an enemyto the disbelievers.99. And indeed We have sentdown to you manifest verses,and none disbelieve in themexcept those who aredisobedient.

100. Is it (not true) that everytime they took a covenant, aparty of them threw it away.But most of themdo not believe.

101. And when there came to

them a messenger from Allah,confirmingthat which waswiththem, a party of those who hadbeen given the Scripture, threwthe Scripture of Allah behindtheir backs as if they did notknow.

102. And they follow that whichthe devilshad recitedduring thekingdom of Solomon. AndSolomon did not disbelieve,butthe devils disbelieved, teachingpeople magic, and that whichwas sent down to the two angelsn Babylon, Harut and Marut.And they (the two angels) didnot teach (it)to anyone, till theyhad said: We are only a trial,therefore disbelieve not(in the

guidance of Allah). Thenfrom these two (angles) theyearned that by which theycould cause separationbetweenman and his wife. And theycould not harm through itanyone, except by Allah's

permission. And they learnedthat which harmed them, andprofited them not. And surelythey knew that whoeverpurchased it (magic), will nothavein the Hereafter any share.And surely evil is that forwhich they have soldthemselves, ifthey onlyknew.

103. And if they had believedand feared (Allah), then thereward from Allah would havebeen better, if they only knew.

104. O you who believe, saynot (to the Prophet): Raina(word of insult but sounding aslisten to us), but say Lookupon us, and listen. And forthe disbelievers there is apainful punishment.

105. Neither those whodisbelieve among the people ofthe Scripture, nor those whoassociate others (with Allah),wish that there should be sent

down to you any good fromyour Lord. And Allah selectsfor His mercy whom Hewills. And Allah is the ownerof great bounty.

106. We do not abrogate averse, or cause it to beforgotten,(but) We bring betterthan it, or similar to it. Do younot know that Allah has powerover all things.

107. Do you not know thatits Allah to Whombelongs the

dominionof the heavensand theearth. And you havenot,besidesAllah, any protector nor helper.

108. Or do you intend to askyour messenger (Muhammad) as Moses was asked before.And he who exchanges faith for disbelief, then indeed,he has strayed from a rightway.

109. Many of the people of theScripture wish if they couldturn you back asdisbelievers after your belief. Out of envy from their

own selves, after the truth hasbecome manifest to them. Soforgive and overlook, until Allah brings His command.ndeed, Allah has power

over all things.

110. And establish prayer,and give the poor-due. And whatever of good you sendforth before (you) foryourselves, you will find itwith Allah. Indeed, Allah is AllSeerof what you do.

111. And they say: Noneshall enter paradise except he be a J ew or aChristian. That is their ownwishful thinking. Say: Bringyour proof if you aretruthful.

112. Nay, but whoever submitshis face (self) to Allah, and hes a doer of good, then for hims his reward with his Lord. And no fear shall be upon

them, nor shall they grieve.

113. And the J ews say: TheChristians have nothing (tostand) upon. And theChristians say: The J ews havenothing (to stand) upon. And

they (both) read the Scripture.Thusspeak those(pagans) whoknow not, same as their words.So Allah will judge betweenthem on the Day ofResurrection about that inwhich they used to differ.

114. And who is more unjustthan the one who forbids, intheplaces of worship of Allah,that His name should bementioned therein, and strivesfor their ruin. Those, it was notfor them that they should enterthem (places of worship)except n fear. For them in thisworld is disgrace, and forthem in the Hereafteris a greatpunishment.

115. And to Allah belong theeast and the west. So whereveryou turn, there is the Face ofAllah. Indeed, Allah is AllEncompassing, All Knowing.

116. And they say: Allah has

taken unto Himself a son. BeHe glorified. But to Him belongswhatever is in the heavens andthe earth. All surrender withobedienceto Him.

117. The Originator of theheavens and the earth. And

when He decrees a matter,He only says to it: Be.And it is.

118. And those who have noknowledge say: Why does not Allah speak to us, or (why not) comes to ussome sign. So saidthosebefore them, similar totheir words. Their hearts arealike. We have indeed madeclear the signs for the peoplewho believe with certainty.

119. Certainly, We have sentyou (O Muhammad) with thetruth, as a bringer of good

tidings, and a warner. And youwill not be asked about thecompanions of Hell fire.

120. And the J ews will neverbe pleased with you, nor theChristians, until you followtheir religion. Say: Indeed,the guidance of Allah is the(only) guidance. And if youwere to follow their desiresafter what has come to youof the knowledge, (then) youwould not have against Allah

any protector, nor a helper.

121. Those to whom Wehave given the Book, theyrecite it with its true recital.Those(are the ones who)believen it. And whoever disbelievesn it, then such are those whoarethe losers.

122. O Children of Israel,remember My favor which

bestowed upon you, andthat I preferred you overthe worlds (people).

123. And fear a Day (ofudgment) when no soul will

avail another soul at all,nor will compensation beaccepted from it, nor willntercession benefit it, nor

will they be helped.124. And when Abraham wastried by his Lord with certainwords (commands), so hefulfilled them. He (Allah) said:Surely, I have appointed youa leader for mankind.Hesaid:And of my descendants. He(Allah) said: My covenant doesnot reachthe wrongdoers.

125. And when We made theHouse(Kaaba) a place of returnfor mankind, and (a place of)safety. (Saying):And take, theplace where Abraham stood, asa place of prayer. And Wecommanded Abraham andshmael, (saying): Purify My

house for those who go around(twaf), and those who staytherein (Itikaf), and those whobow down (Ruku), (and)

prostrate(Sajadah).126. And whenAbrahamsaid:My Lord, make this a securecity, and provideitspeoplewithfruits, thoseamongthem whobelieve in Allah and the LastDay. He (Allah) said: Andwhoever disbelieves, so I shallgive him enjoyment for a littlewhile, then I shall force himtothe punishment of the Fire. Anevil destination.

127. And when Abraham was

raising the foundations of theHouse, and Ishmael. (Saying): Our Lord, accept (this) fromus. Indeed, You are the AllHearer, the All Knower.

128. Our Lord, and make ussubmissive to You, and fromour offspring, a nationsubmissive to You. And showus our rituals (of pilgrimage),and accept our repentance.ndeed, You are the one who

accepts repentance, the MostMerciful.

129. Our Lord, and raise inthem a messenger from amongthem, who shall recite to

them Your verses, and shallteach them the Book andwisdom, and shall purify them.ndeed, You are the All

Mighty, the All Wise.

130. And who would be averse

to the religion of Abraham,except himwho befools himself.AndWe had chosen him in theworld. And indeed, in theHereafter, he will be amongthe righteous.

131. When his Lord said to

him: Submit. He said: I havesubmitted myself to the Lordof the Worlds.

132. And Abraham enjoinedthe same (submission to Allah)upon his sons, and J acob,(saying): O my sons, indeed,Allah has chosen for you thisreligion, so do not die exceptwhileyou have submitted.

133. Or were you present when death approached J acob, when he said to his sons:What will you worship afterme. They said: We shall

worship your God, and the Godof your fathers, Abraham, andshmael, and Isaac, One God,

and to Himwe have submitted.

134. That was a nation whichhas passed away. For them isthat which they earned, and foryou is that which you earn. Andyou will not be asked of whatthey used to do.

135. And they say: BeJ ewsor Christians, you will(then)beguided. Say (O Muhammad):

Nay,(we follow) the religion ofAbraham, the firm in faith,and he was not of those whoassociate partners(with Allah).

136. Say (O Muslims): Webelieve in Allah and that whichhas been sent down to us, andthat which was sent down toAbraham, and Ishmael, andsaac, and J acob, and the tribes,

and that which was given toMoses and J esus, and thatwhich was given to the prophetsfrom their Lord. We make nodistinction between any of them,and to Himwe have submitted.

137. So if they believe in thesame that which you believe,then they are(rightly)guided.And ifthey turn away, then theyareonly in schism. So Allah willbe sufficient for you againstthem. And He is the All Hearer,

the All Knower.138. (Take) color (religion)ofAllah, and whose color(religion) can be better thanAllahs. And we are Hisworshippers.

139. Say (O Muhammad):Doyou argue with us about Allah,and He is our Lord and yourLord. And for us areour deeds,and for you are your deeds.And we are sincere to Him.


42/1258

140. Or do you say that Abraham, and Ishmael, andsaac, and J acob, and the tribes

were J ews or Christians. Say:Do you know more, or doesAllah. And who is more unjustthan one who conceals atestimony which he has fromAllah. And Allah is notunawareof what you do.

141. That was a nation whichhas passed away. For them isthat which they earned, and foryou is that which you earn. Andyou will not be asked of whatthey used to do.

142. The foolish among thepeople will say: What has

turned them away from theirqiblah which they used toface. Say: To Allah belongthe east and the west. Heguides whom He wills to astraight path.


43/1258

143. And thus We have madeyou a middle nation, that youmay be witnesses againstmankind, and the messengermay be a witness against you.And We did not make theqiblah which you used to face,except that We might know himwho follows the messenger,from him who would turn backon his heels. And indeed, it isdifficult except for those whom

Allah has guided. And Allahwould never cause your faith tobe wasted. Indeed, Allah,towards people, is K ind, MostMerciful.

144. We have certainly seenthe turning of your face (O

Muhammad) toward heaven. SoWe shall surely turn you to aqiblah that you will be pleasedwith. So turn your face towardAl Masjid al Haram, andwherever you(O Muslims)may

be, so turn your faces toward it.And indeed, those who havebeen given the Scripture knowthat it is the truth from theirLord. And Allah is notunawareof what they do.


44/1258

145. And even if you were tobring to those who have beengiven the Scripture every sign,they would not follow yourqiblah. Nor would you be afollower of their qiblah. Nor aresome of them followers of theqiblah of others. And if youwere to follow their desiresafterthat which has come to you ofthe knowledge, indeed, youwould then be among the

wrongdoers.146. Those to whom We havegiven the Scripture recognizethisas they recognizetheir sons.And indeed, a party of themconceal the truth and theyknow(it).

147. (This is) the truth fromyour Lord, so be not you ofthose who doubt.

148. And to each there is adirection, he turns to it, sohasten towards what is good.

Wherever you may be, Allah will bring you all together.ndeed, Allah has power over

all things.


45/1258

149. And from wherever yougo out (for prayer, OMuhammad) turn your facetoward Al Masjid al Haram.And indeed, it is the truth fromyour Lord. And Allah is notunawareof what you do.

150. And from wherever you goout(for prayer, O Muhammad)turn your facetoward AlMasjidal Haram. And wherever youmay be (O Muslims),turn your

facestoward it, so that peoplemay not have an argumentagainst you, except for thosewho do wrongamong them. Sodo not fear them, but fear Me.And that I may complete Myfavor upon you, and that youmaybe guided.

151. J ust as We have sent among you a messenger fromyourselves, reciting to youOur verses, and purifying you,and teaching you the Book

and wisdom, and teaching youthat which you did not know.

152. So remember Me, I willremember you. And give thanksto Me, and benot ungrateful.


46/1258

153. O you who believe, Seekhelp through patience andprayer. Indeed, Allah is withthose who are patient.

154. And do not say of those

who are killed in the way ofAllah: They are dead. Nay,they are living, but youperceive not.

155. And certainly We shalltest you with something offear, and hunger, and loss of

wealth, and lives, and fruits.And give glad tidings to thosewho are patient.

156.Those whowhenacalamitybefalls them say: Indeed, webelong to Allah, and indeed to

Himwe will return.157. Those are, upon whomare blessings from their Lord,and mercy. And it is thosewho are rightly guided.

158. Indeed, As Safa and AlMarwah are among the symbolsof Allah. So whoever is onpilgrimage to the House (ofAllah) or umrah, it is thenno sin for him to go betweenthem, And whoever does goodvoluntarily, then indeed, Allah

s Appreciative, All Knower.


47/1258

159. Indeed, those who concealwhat We have sent down ofclear proofs and the guidance,after what We had made itclear for the people in theScripture. They are thosecursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse.

160. Except those who repent,and correct themselves, andmake manifest(the truth). Thenthose, I will accept their

repentance.And I am the OneWho accepts repentance, theMost Merciful.

161. Certainly, those whodisbelieve, and die while theyare disbelievers, it is they onwhom is the curse of Allah,and of angels, and of mankind,combined.

162. Abiding forevertherein. The punishment willnot be lightened from them,nor will theybe reprieved.

163. And your God is oneGod. There is no deity exceptHim, the Most Beneficent, theMost Merciful.


48/1258

164. Indeed, in the creation ofthe heavens and the earth, andthe alternationof the night andthe day, and the shipswhich sailthrough the sea with that whichbenefits mankind, and thatwhich Allah sends down of rainfrom the sky, giving life therebyto the earth after its death, anddispersing therein every (kindof) of moving creatures, and(in)the changing of the winds, and

the clouds held between the skyand the earth are signs (ofAllah's Sovereignty) for peopleof understanding.

165. And among mankindare those who take other

than Allah as equals (toHim). They love them asthey (should) love Allah.And those who believe arestronger in love for Allah.And if only they, whohave wronged could see, when

they will see the punishment,that all power belongs toAllah, and that Allah issevere in punishment.


49/1258

166. Whenthose whohave beenfollowed would disassociatethemselves from those whofollowed (them). And theywould see the punishment. Andall the ties (of relationship)would be cut offfrom them.

167. And those who followedwill say: If onlyanotherreturn(to worldly life) was (possible)for us, we would disassociatefrom them as they have

disassociated from us. Thuswill Allah show them theirdeeds as regrets for them. And they will never get outfrom theFire.

168. O mankind, eat of thatwhich is lawful and goodonthe earth, and follow not thefootsteps of the devil. Indeed, hes an open enemy to you.

169. He only commands youto evil and indecency, andthat you should say against

Allah that which you do notknow.


50/1258

170. And when it is said tothem: Follow that which Allahhas sent down, they say: Nay,we will follow that uponwhich we found our fathers.Even though their fatherswere (such who) did notunderstand anything, nor werethey guided.

171. And the exampleof thosewho disbelieve, is as theexample of him who shouts to

that (flock of sheep)whichhearsnothing except a call and a cry.(They are)deaf, dumb, blind, sothey do not understand.

172. O you who believe, eat ofthe good things that We haveprovided you with, and begrateful to Allah if it is(indeed) Him you worship.

173. He has forbidden to youonly carrion, and blood, andflesh of swine, and that whichhas been immolated to other

than Allah. So whoever is forcedby necessity, without willfuldisobedience, nor transgressing,then it is no sin for him.Truly,Allah is Oft Forgiving, MostMerciful.


51/1258

174. Certainly, those whoconceal what Allah has sentdown of the Book, and purchasea small gain therewith, theyeat into their bellies nothingbut fire. And Allah will notspeak to them on the Day ofResurrection, nor will He purifythem. And for them will be apainful punishment.

175. Those are the oneswho purchased error at the

price of guidance, andpunishment at the price offorgiveness. So how patient arethey(in the pursuit) to the Fire.

176. That is becauseAllah hassent down the Book (the Quran)with the truth. And indeed,those who disputed over theBook are far away indissension.


52/1258

177. Righteousness is not thatyou turn your faces toward theeast and the west. Butrighteousness (is in him) whobelieves in Allah, and the LastDay, and the angels, and theBook, and the prophets. Andgiveswealth out of love for Him,to the relatives, and theorphans, and the needy, and thewayfarer, and to those whoask, and to set slaves free. And

establishes prayer, and givesthe poor due. And those whofulfill their promise when theymake a promise. And (thosewho) are patient in tribulationand adversity, and at the time ofbattle.Those are the ones who

are the truthful. And it is thosewho are the righteous.


53/1258

178. O you who believe, legalretribution (Qisas, Law ofEquality) is prescribed for youn (the matter of) the murdered.The free for the free, and theslave for the slave, and thefemale for the female. So hewho (the killer) is forgivensomething by his (victims)brother (or the relatives), then(there should be) a following upwith fairness, and payment

(of the blood money) towardhim (to the heir) in kindness.This is an alleviation from yourLord and mercy. So whoevertransgresses after that, then forhim is a painful punishment.

179. And for you there is life

n legal retribution (Qisas, Lawof Equality), O (men) ofunderstanding, that you maybecome righteous.

180. It is prescribed for you,when death approaches any

of you, ifhe leaves wealth, thathe make a bequest to parentsand near relatives according towhat is reasonable. (This is) adutyupon the righteous.


54/1258

181. Then whoever changest (the bequest) after he hasheard it, then the sin is onlyupon those who changed it.ndeed, Allah is All Hearer, All

Knower.

182. But he who fears from atestator some unjust or sinfulclause, then makes peacebetween them(the parties),thenthere is no sin upon him.Certainly, Allah is Oft

Forgiving, Most Merciful.183. O you who believe,fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for thosebefore you, that you maybecome righteous.

184. (Fasting) a certain numberofdays.So whoeveramong yous sick, or on a journey, then anequal number of other days(should be made up). And forthose who can afford it theres a ransom, the feeding of aneedy person. Then whoeverdoes good of his own accord, its better for him. And that youfast, it is better for you if onlyyou knew.


55/1258

185. The month of Ramadans that in which the Quranwas revealed, a guidance formankind, and clear proofs ofguidance, and the criterion(between right and wrong). Sowhoever of you witnesses(this) month, then he mustfast (in) it. And whoever issick or on a journey, then anequal number of other days(should be made up). Allah

ntends for you ease, and Hedoes not intend hardship foryou, and (He wants) that youshould complete the count, andthat you should glorify Allah forhaving guided you, and thatyou may be grateful (to Him).

186. And when My servantsask you (O Muhammad) aboutMe, then(answer them),indeed am near. I respond to thenvocations of the suppliantwhen he calls upon Me. So let

them respond to Me, and letthem believe in Me, that theymaybe guided.


56/1258

187. It has been made lawfulfor you to go in unto yourwiveson the night of the fasting.They areas a garmentfor you,and you are as a garmentfor them.Allah knowsthat youwere deceivingyourselves, so Hehas turned to you (acceptedyour repentance), and forgaveyou. So now have intimaterelations with them, and seekthat which Allah has decreed

for you. And eat and drinkuntil, it becomes distinct toyou the white thread fromthe black thread of the dawn.Then complete the fast tillthe nightfall. And do not haventimate relations with them

(your wives) while you are intikaf (confining yourselves) inthe mosques. These are theimits by Allah, so approachthemnot. ThusdoesAllah makeclear His verses to mankindthat they maybecome righteous.

188. And donot devour yourproperty among each otherunjustly, and (do not) offer it (as bribery) to the rulers, thatyou may devour a portion of theproperty of the people in sin,

and you know(it).


57/1258

189. They ask you, (OMuhammad) about the newmoons. Say: These are signsfor marking times for mankind,and the pilgrimage. And it isnot righteousness that you go tothe houses from theirbacks, butthe righteousness is (in) himwho fears (Allah). And go tohouses from their doors, andfear Allah, that you may besuccessful.

190. And fight in the way ofAllah those who fight you, and do not transgress the limits.ndeed, Allah loves not the

transgressors.

191. And kill them wherever

you overtake them, and expelthem from wherever they haveexpelled you, and persecutions worse thankilling. And donot fight them at Al Masjidal Haram,until they fight youthere.Then if they fight you,

then kill them. Such is therecompenseof the disbelievers.

192. But if they desist, thenndeed, Allah is Oft Forgiving,Most Merciful.


58/1258

193. And fight them untilthere is no (more) persecution,and the religion is (only) forAllah.Then ifthey desist, then(let there be)no hostility exceptagainst the wrongdoers.

194. (Fighting in) the sacredmonth is for (the aggressioncommitted in) the sacredmonth. And (for the violationof) the prohibited things theres legal retribution (Qisas, Law

of Equality). So whoever hastransgressed against you, thenyou transgress against him inthe same way that he hastransgressed against you. Andfear Allah, and know that Allahs with those who are righteous.

195. Andspend in the cause ofAllah, and do not throw(yourselves) by your own hands intodestruction. And do good.ndeed, Allah loves those who

do good.

196. And complete thepilgrimage and the umrahfor Allah. Then if you areprevented, so (offer) thatwhich can be obtained withease, of the sacrificial animals.


59/1258

And do not shave yourheads until the sacrificialanimal has reached its placeof slaughter. So whoeveramong you is sick or has anailment of the head, then (hemust pay) a ransom of fasting,or charity, or sacrifice.

Then when you are in safety,then whoever takes advantageof(performing) umrah with the

pilgrimage, (must offer) thatwhich can be obtained withease, of the sacrificial animals.So whoever cannot find (orafford such animal), thenfasting of three days while onthe pilgrimage, and of seven

when you have returned.Thats, ten in total.

That is for him whose familys not present(non residents)atAl Masjid al Haram. And fearAllah, and know that Allah is

severe in punishment.


60/1258

197. The pilgrimage is (in) thewell known months, so whoeverhas made obligatory (uponhimself)the pilgrimage in these(months),then(one must knowthat) there is no sexualrelations, nor disobedience, nordisputingduring the pilgrimage.And whatever you do of good,Allah knows it. And takeprovision with you, but indeed,best provision is righteousness.

And fear Me, O people ofunderstanding.

198. It is no sin upon you thatyou seek the bounty of yourLord (by trading duringpilgrimage). Then, when youdepart from Arafat, remember

Allah at Al Mashar al Haram.And remember Him as He hasguided you. And though youwere, before that, among thosewho were astray.

199. Then depart from where

all the people depart, and askforgiveness of Allah. Indeed,Allah is Oft Forgiving, MostMerciful.


61/1258

200. Then when you havecompleted your (pilgrimage) rites, then remember Allah asyou remember your forefathers,or with greater remembrance.Then of mankind is he whosays: Our Lord, give us in thisworld, and he will have noportion in the Hereafter.

201. And of them is he whosays: Our Lord, give us in thisworld (that which is)good, and

n the Hereafter (that which is)good, and save us from thepunishment of the Fire.

202. Those, for themis aportion of what they haveearned. And Allah is swift at

reckoning.203. And remember Allahduring the appointed days.Then whoever hastens (hisdeparture) in two days, thenthere is no sin upon him, andwhoever delays, then there is

no sin upon him, for him whofears (Allah). And fear Allah,and know that to Him you willbe gathered.


62/1258

204. And of the people is hewhose speech pleases you (OMuhammad) in worldly life,and he calls Allah to witnessas to what is in his heart.And he is the fiercest ofopponents.

205. And when he turns away (from you), he strives in theand to cause corruptiontherein, and to destroy the cropsand the cattle. And Allah does

not love corruption.206. And when it is said tohim: Fear Allah, arrogancetakes him to sin, so sufficientfor him is Hell. And indeed, it isan evil resting place.

207. And of mankind is hewho would sell himself,seeking the pleasure of Allah.And Allah is Kind to (His)slaves.

208. O you who believe, enter

nto Islam completely, and donot follow the footsteps ofSatan. Certainly, he is a openenemyto you.


63/1258

209. Then if you slideback after the clear proofshave come to you, thenknow that Allah is AllMighty, All Wise.

210. Do they await but thatAllah should come to theminthe shadows of the clouds, andthe angels, and the matterwould be judged. And allmatters are returned toAllah(for judgment).

211. Ask the Children ofsrael how many a clear signs

We have given them. Andwhoever changes the favor ofAllah after it has come tohim, then surely Allah is severe

n punishment.212. Beautified for those whodisbelieve is the life of thisworld, and they ridicule thosewho believe. And those who fear (Allah) will be above them on

the Day of Resurrection. AndAllah gives provision to whomHe willswithout measure.


64/1258

213. Mankind were onecommunity, then Allah sent (tothem) prophets as bearers ofglad tidings, and as warners,and sent down with them theScripturewith the truth, that itmight judge between mankind n that wherein they differed.And none differed over it (theScripture), except those whowere given it, afterclear proofshad come to them, out of jealous

animosity among themselves.Then Allah guided those whobelieved concerning that inwhich they had differed, to thetruth, by His permission. AndAllah guides whomHe wills toa straight path.

214. Or do you think that youwill enter Paradise, while such(trial) has not come to you asthe like of(that which came to)those who passed away beforeyou. They were afflicted with

poverty and adversity, andthey were shaken until themessenger and those whobelieved with himsaid: Whenwill be the help of Allah. Yescertainly, Allahs help is near.


65/1258

215. They ask you (OMuhammad), what should theyspend. Say: Whatever youspend of good (must be) forparents, and near kindred,and orphans, and the needy,and the wayfarer. And whateveryou do of good, then indeed,AllahisAwareof it.

216. Fighting has beenordained upon you, though t is hateful to you. But

may be that you hate athing and it is good for you. And it may be that you lovea thing and it is bad for you.And Allah knows, but youdo not know.


66/1258

217. They ask you (OMuhammad) about the sacredmonth (and) fighting therein.Say: Fightingtherein is a great(transgression). But averting(people) from the way of Allah,and disbelieving in Him, and(preventing access to) AlMasjid al Haram, andexpulsion of its people therefrom, are greater (evils) in thesight of Allah. And persecution

s greater than killing. Andthey will not cease fromfighting against you until theyturn you back from yourreligion, if they can. Andwhoever of you turns backfrom his religion, and dies

while he is a disbeliever, thenthose, their deeds havebecome worthless in this worldand the Hereafter. And thosearethe companions of the Fire.They will abidetherein forever.

218. Certainly, those who havebelieved, and those who haveemigrated and have fought inthe way of Allah, those havehope of Allah's mercy. AndAllah is Oft Forgiving, MostMerciful.


67/1258

219. They ask you (OMuhammad) about wine andgambling. Say: In them isgreat sin, and (some) benefit forpeople. And the sin of them isgreater than their benefit. Andthey ask you what they shouldspend. Say: That which isbeyond your needs.ThusAllahmakes clear to you (His)versesthat you might give thought.

220. In the world and the

Hereafter. And they ask youabout (how to deal with) theorphans. Say: Improvementfor them is best. And ifyou mixyour affairs with theirs, then(they are) your brothers. AndAllah knows him who corrupts

(orphans property) from himwho improves(it). And if Allahhad willed, He could have putyou into difficulties. Indeed,Allah is All Mighty, All Wise.


68/1258

221. And do not marry womenwho associate (others withAllah)until they believe. And abelieving slave woman is betterthan a (free) woman whoassociates (others with Allah),even though she pleases you.And do not marry men whoassociate (others with Allah)until they believe. And abelieving slave man is betterthan a (free) man who

associates (others with Allah),even though he pleases you.They invite to the Fire, andAllah invites to the Garden andforgiveness by His permission.And He makes clear His versesto the people that they may

remember.222. And they ask you(O Muhammad) aboutmenstruation. Say: It is ahurt,so keep away from womenduring menstruation, and do

not approach them until theyare cleansed. So when they havepurified themselves, then go tothem from where Allah hasordained upon you. Indeed,Allah loves those who turn toHim in repentanceand He loves

those who purify themselves.


69/1258

223. Your women are aplace of cultivation(for sowingseed) for you, so go to yourplace of cultivation however youwill, and send (good deeds)before you for your selves, andfear Allah, and know that youwill (one day) meet Him. Andgive glad tidings to thebelievers.

224. And do not make Allah(His name) an excuse in your

oaths, against your beingrighteous, and acting piously,and making peace amongmankind. And Allah is AllHearer, All Knower.

225. Allah will not call you toaccount for that which isunintentional in your oaths.But He will call you to accountfor that which your heartshave earned. And Allah is OftForgiving, Most Forbearing.

226. For those who take anoathto keep away from theirwives, the waiting is fourmonths. Then, if they return,then indeed, Allah is OftForgiving, Most Merciful.


70/1258

227. And if they decide upondivorce, then indeed, Allah isAll Hearer, All Knower.

228. And divorced women shall wait, for themselves (from

getting remarried) for threemenstrual periods. And it isnotawful for them that theyshould conceal that whichAllahhas created in their wombs, ifthey believe in Allah and theLast Day. And their husbandshave more right to take themback in that (period), if theydesirea reconciliation. And they(women) have rights similar tothose over them according towhat is equitable, and men

have a degree above them.And Allah is All Mighty, All Wise.


71/1258

229. Divorceis twice, then (awoman) must be kept onreasonable terms, or beseparatedin kindness. And it isnot lawful for you that you takeanything back from that whichyou have given them (women), except that both fear that theymay not keep the limits(ordained by) Allah.Then ifyoufear that they may not keep theimits of Allah, then it is no sin

for either of them in that bywhich she ransoms herself.These are the limits (ordainedby)Allah, so do not transgressthem. And whoever transgressesthe limits of Allah, then it isthosewho arethe wrongdoers.


72/1258

230. So if he has divorced her(for the third time),then she isnot lawful to him afterward,until she marries a husband other than him.Thenifhe(theother husband) divorces her,then it isno sin upon them both (woman and the formerhusband) that they reunitetogether, ifthey think that theymay keep the limits of Allah.And these are the limits

(ordained by) Allah, whichHemakes clear for the people whohave knowledge.


73/1258

231. And when you havedivorced women, and they havereached their term, then keepthem on reasonable terms, orseparate them on reasonableterms. And do not keep them(intending)to harm, that youtransgress (the limits). Andwhoever does that, then hehas indeed wronged himself.And do not take the verses ofAllah in jest, and

remember the favor of Allahupon you, and that which Hehas sent down to you of theBook(the Quran) and wisdom,by which He instructs you. Andfear Allah and knowthat Allahhas knowledge of all things.


74/1258

232. And when you havedivorced women, and theyhave reached their term, thendo not prevent them frommarrying their husbands(former or new), if theyagree among themselves onreasonable terms. This isnstructed for him amongyou who believes in Allah and the Last Day. That ismore virtuous for you, and

purer. And Allah knows, andyou know not.


75/1258

233. The (divorced)mothersshall nurse (breastfeed) theirchildren two completeyears, forwhoever intends to completethenursing. And upon the father ofthe child is their (mothers)provision and their clothing ona reasonable basis. No soulshould be burdened beyond itscapacity. A mother should notbe harmed because of herchild, nor should he (be

harmed) whose child it isbecause of his child. And on(father's) heir is (the duty)likethat(of the father). And iftheydesireweaning through mutualconsent of them both, andconsultation, then it is no sin for

them. And ifyou intend to haveyour children nursed (by otherwomen), then it is no sin foryou, provided you pay what isdue from you on reasonablebasis. And fear Allah, and knowthat Allah is Seer of what youdo.


76/1258

234. And thosewho dieamongyou and leave behind wives,they (the wives) shall wait,keeping themselves (fromremarrying), four months andten(days). Then when they havereached their term, then theres no sin for you in that whichthey may do with themselvesn honorable manner. AndAllah is Well Acquainted ofwhat you do.

235. And there is no sin foryou in that you make indirectproposal of marriage to thewomen (during their waitingterm), or keep it concealedwithin yourselves. Allah knows

that you will be thinking ofthem. But do not promise themsecretly, except that you speakhonorable words. And do not resolve on the tie of marriage,until the prescribed term isreached. And know that Allah

knows what is withinyourselves, so beware of Him.And know that Allah is OftForgiving, Most Forbearing.


77/1258

236. (I t is) no sin for you ifyou divorcewomen while youhave not touched them, orappointed for them anobligatory bridal gift. Butprovide them (a compensation).The wealthy according to hismeans, and the poor accordingto his means, a provision thats reasonable. A duty upon thosewho do good.

237. And if you divorce them

before that you touched them,while you have alreadyappointed for them anobligatory bridal gift, then(give) half of that which youappointed, unless they (thewomen) forego the right, or

foregoes it he in whosehand is the marriage contract.And to forego is nearer torighteousness.And donot forgetkindness among yourselves.ndeed, Allah is All Seer of

what you do.238. Guard (obligatory)prayers, and the middle prayer,and stand in front of Allah devoutly obedient.


78/1258

239. And if you fear (theenemy), then (pray)onfoot orriding. And when you are insafety, then remember Allah,as He has taught you thatwhich you did not know.

240. And those who dieamongyou, and leave behind wives.For their wives is a bequest, aprovision for one year withoutturning (them) out (of their

homes). But if they go out (oftheir own accord), then theres no sin for you in thatwhich they do with themselvesn honorable manner. AndAllah isAll Mighty, All Wise.

241. And for divorced women isa provision that is reasonable, aduty upon those who arerighteous.

242. Thus does Allah makeclear to you His verses thatyou may understand.


79/1258

243. Did you (O Muhammad)not see (reflect) at those whowent out from their homes,and they were in thousands,fearing death. So Allah saidto them: Die. Then Heraised them back to life.ndeed, Allah is full of bounty

to mankind, but most ofmankind give not thanks.

244. Andfight in the cause of

Allah, and know that AllahsAll Hearer, All Knower.

245. Who is he that wouldoan to Allah a goodly loan,sothat He may multiply it for himmany times. And it is Allahwho restricts and enlarges(provision).And unto Him youwill be returned.

246. Did you not see (reflect)at the leadersof the Children ofsrael after Moses, when they

said to a prophet of theirs:Appoint for usa king, we willfight in the cause of Allah. Hesaid: Wouldit perhapsbe, iffightingwas prescribed for you,that you would not fight.Theysaid: And what is it with usthat we should not fight in thecause of Allah, and indeed we

have been driven out from ourhomes and our children. Butwhen fighting was prescribedfor them, they turned away, except a few of them. AndAllah is aware of thewrongdoers.


81/1258

247. Andtheir prophet said tothem: Certainly, Allah hasappointed for you Saul as aking.They said: How can hehave kingship over us and weare more deserving of thekingship than he is, and hehas not been given anyabundance in wealth. He said:Indeed, Allah has chosen himover you, and has increasedhim abundantly in knowledge

and stature. And Allah bestowsHis Sovereignty on whom Hewills. And Allah is AllEncompassing, All Knower.

248. And their prophet said tothem: Certainly, the sign of

his kingship is that there shallcome to you the ark in whichs reassurance from yourLord, and a remnant of thateft behindby the family ofMoses, and the family ofAaron, the angels carrying it.

ndeed, in that shall be a signfor you if you arebelievers.


82/1258

249. Then whenSaul went outwith the soldiers, he said: Indeed, Allah will be testingyou with a river. So whoeverdrinks from it, is then not ofme. Andwhoever doesnot tastet, he is indeed of me, except himwho takes (from it) in thehollowof his hand. Then theydrank from it, except a few ofthem. Then when he hadcrossed it(the river), he and

those who believed with him,they said: There is no power for us this day against Goliathand his soldiers.Those whoknew that they would meetAllah said: How many a smallcompany has overcomea large

company by Allah's permission.And Allah is with thosewhoare patient.

250. And when they wentagainst Goliath and hissoldiers, they said: Our Lord,

Bestow on us endurance, andmake firm our foothold, andgive us victory against thedisbelieving people.


83/1258

251. So they defeated themby Allah's permission, andDavid killed Goliath, andAllah gave himthe kingship andwisdom, and taught him ofthat which He willed. And ifAllah had not repelled people,some of them by others, theearth would have beencorrupted. But Allah is full ofbounty to the worlds.

252. These are the verses of

Allah which We recite to you(O Muhammad) with truth.And indeed, you are fromamong the messengers.


84/1258

253. Those messengers, Weraised in ranks some of themabove the others. Among themwere some to whom Allahspoke, and He raised some ofthem in degrees. And We gaveesus, son of Mary, clear proofs,

and We supported him with theholy Spirit. And ifAllah had sowilled, those who succeededthem would not have fought(with one another) after the

clear proofs had come tothem. But they differed, thenamong them were some whobelieved, andamong them weresome who disbelieved. And ifAllah had so willed, they wouldnot have fought. But Allah does

what He intends.254. O you who believe, spendof that which We have providedfor you before a day comes inwhich there will be nobargaining, nor friendship, nor

ntercession. And it is thedisbelievers who arethe wrongdoers.


85/1258

255. Allah, there is no godexcept Him. The Ever Living,the Self Existent. Neitherslumber overtakes Him, norsleep. To Him belongswhatevers in the heavens, and whatevers on the earth. Who is it thatcan intercede with Him exceptby His permission. He knowsthat which is in front of them,and that which is behind them.And they encompassnot a thing

of His knowledge except forwhat He wills. His throneextends over the heavens andthe earth. And He feels nofatigue in guarding them. AndHe is the Most High, theSupreme.

256. There shall be nocompulsion in the religion. Theright path has indeed becomedistinct from the wrong. Sowhoever disbelieves in falsedeities, and believes in Allah,

then certainly he has graspedthe most trustworthy handholdthat will never break. AndAllah is All Hearer, All Knower.


86/1258

257. Allah is the protector ofthose who believe. He bringsthem out from darkness intoight. And those who disbelieve,their supporters are falsedeities. They take them out ofight into darkness. Such arethe companions of the Fire. They will abidetherein forever.

258. Have you notseen(cometo know) of him who hadargued with Abrahamabout his

Lord, because Allah had givenhim kingship. When Abrahamsaid:My Lord is the one whogives lifeand causes death, hesaid: I give life and causedeath. Abraham said: Indeed,Allah brings up the sun from

the east, so bring it upfrom thewest.Thus was confounded hewhodisbelieved. And Allahdoesnot guide the wrongdoingpeople.


87/1258

259. Or as the one whopassedby a township,and that hadfallen down upon its roofs. Hesaid: How shallAllah bringt to life after its death. SoAllah caused him to die for ahundred years, then He raisedhim back to life. He (Allah)said: How long did youremain (dead). He (the man)said: I have remained a day orpart of a day. He(Allah) said:

Nay, you have remained(dead) for a hundred years. Soook at your food and yourdrink, they have not becomespoiled. And look at yourdonkey, and that We may makeyou a sign to mankind, and

ook at the bones, how We bringthem together, then clothe themwith the flesh. Then when itbecame clear to him, he said: I know that Allah has powerover all things.


88/1258

260. And whenAbrahamsaid:My Lord, show mehow Yougive life to the dead. He(Allah) said: Do you notbelieve. He (Abraham) said: Yes, but (I ask this) that myheart may be satisfied. He(Allah) said: Then take fourof the birds, and tame themwith yourself, (cut them intopieces) then placeon each hilla portion of them, then call

them, they will come to you inhaste, and know that Allah isAll Mighty, All Wise.

261. The exampleofthosewho spend their wealth in theway of Allah is as the exampleof a grain(of corn), it growsseven ears, in each ear is ahundred grains. And Allahncreases manifold for whomHe wills. And Allah is AllEncompassing, All Knower.


89/1258

262. Those who spend theirwealth in the cause of Allah,thendo not followwhat theyhave spent with reminders ofgenerosity, nor (with) abuse.For them their reward is withtheir Lord. And there shall beno fear upon them, nor shallthey grieve.

263. A kind word andforgiveness are better thancharity followed by hurt. And

Allah is Self Sufficient,Forbearing.

264. O you who believe, Donot render in vain your charitiesby reminders of yourgenerosity and hurting, as him

who spends his wealth to beseen by the people, and doesnot believe in Allah and theLast Day. So his example isas the example of a smoothrock upon which is dust,then a heavy rain falls upon

t, which leaves it bare. Theyarenot ableto doanything withwhat they have earned. AndAllah does not guide thedisbelieving people.

265. And the exampleof thosewho spend their wealthseeking the pleasure of Allah, and to strengthen their ownselves, is as the example of agarden on a high ground. Aheavy rain falls upon it, sot brings forth its fruit twice asmuch. And if the heavy raindoes not fall upon it, then adrizzle(is sufficient). And Allahs All Seer of what you do.

266. Would any of you likethat there is for him agarden of palm trees andgrapevines, rivers flowingunderneath it, all kindsof fruits for him in it, and

he is afflicted by oldage, and he has weakoffspring, then it is struckby a whirlwind with fire int, so that it is burnt. Thusdoes Allah make clear (His) verses for you, that you

may give thought.


91/1258

267. O you who believe, spendfrom the good things which youhave earned, and from thatwhich We bring forth for youfrom the earth, and do notseek the bad (with intent) tospend from it(in charity), andyou would not take it (foryourselves), except that you willdisdain about it. And knowthat Allah is Free of all wants,Worthy of all Praise.

268. Satan threatens youwith poverty and orders youof lewdness. And Allahpromises you forgivenessfrom Himself and bounty. And Allah isAll Encompassing,All Knower.

269. He gives wisdom towhom He wills. And whoeverhas been given wisdom, thencertainly he has been given abundant good. And noneremember except men of

understanding.270. And whatever you spendof any spending, or make you avow of vows, then indeed Allahknows it. And for the wrongdoersthere are no helpers.


92/1258

271. If you disclose (your)almsgiving, it is good, and ifyou conceal it, and give itto the poor, then that is better for you. And He willremove from you some ofyour misdeeds. And Allah iswell Informed of what youdo.

272. Not (a responsibility) uponyou (O Muhammad) to guidethem, but Allah guides whom

He wills. And whatever youspend of good, it is foryourselves. And you do notspend except seeking thepleasure of Allah. And whatever you spend of good, it will berepaid to you in full, and you

will not be wronged.273. (Charity is) for the poor,thosewho have been restrictedfor the cause of Allah,they arenot able to travel in the land(to earn their livelihood).The

gnorant person would think ofthem wealthy because of theirrestraint. You shall know themby their mark(condition).Theydo not ask people withmportunity. And whatever youspend of good, then indeed

Allah knowsit.


93/1258

274. Those who spend theirwealth by night, and day, secretly, and publicly, so forthem, their reward is with theirLord. And there shall beno fear upon them, nor shall they grieve.

275. Those who devour usurywill not stand(on the Day ofResurrection) except like thestanding of him who is leadnto insanity bySatan through

(his) touch.That isbecause theysay: Trade is just like usury.Whereas Allah has permittedtrade and forbidden usury.Then to whom comes anadmonition from his Lord, andhe refrains (from usury), thenhe may keep (the profits of)that which is past. And hisaffair is with Allah. Andwhoever returns(to usury), thensuch arethe companions of theFire. They will abide therein

forever.276. Allah destroysusury andgives increasefor charities. AndAllah does not love thedisbelievers, sinners.


94/1258

277. Indeed, those who believe,and do righteous deeds, andestablish prayer, and give thepoor due. For them, theirreward is with their Lord. Andthere shall be no fear uponthem, nor shall they grieve.

278. O you who believe, fearAllah, and give up what remains(due to you) from usury, if youare believers.

279. So if you do not do (it), then be informed of war(against you) from Allah andHis messenger. And if yourepent, then you may have yourprincipal. Do no wrong, and

you shall not be wronged.

280. And if (the debtor) is inhardship, then (let there be)postponement until (the timeof) ease. And that you remit(the debt) as charity, it is better

for you, ifyou did but know.281. And fear a day in whichyou will be returned to Allah.Then every soul will be paid infull that which it has earned,and they will not be wronged.


95/1258

282. O you who believe,when you contracta transactionof debt for a fixed term, thenwrite it down. And let a scribewrite(it)down between you inustice. And let not the scribe

refuse to write, as Allah hastaught him, so let him write.

And let him dictatewho has theiability on him (the debtor).And let him fear Allah, hisLord, and not add or leaveanything out of it.Then if hewho has the liability on him(the debtor) is mentallydeficient, or weak, or unablehimself to dictate it, then lethis guardian dictate in justice.

And bring to witness twowitnesses from among yourmen, then if there are not twomen(available), then a man andtwo women, from those youagree for witnesses, so that ifone of them(women) errs, thenthe other one of them canremind her.

And let the witnessesnot refusewhen they are calledupon (forevidence). And do not be weary to write (your contract)for its

fixed term,(be it)small or large.


96/1258

This is more just in the sight ofAllah, and stronger as evidence,and nearer to that you preventdoubts among yourselves.

Except that it be on the spot

trade which you carry outamong yourselves, then there isno sin upon you if you do notwrite it. And take witnesseswhenever you make acommercial contract.

And let no scribe be harmed,nor any witness. And ifyou do(such harm), then indeed, itwould be wickedness in you.And fear Allah. And it is Allahwho teaches you. And Allah iswell acquaintedwith all things.

283. And if you are on aourney and cannot find a

scribe, then (transact yourbusiness) on a pledge withpossession. So if one of youentrusts another, then let him

who is entrusteddeliver histrust (according to the pactbetween them), and let himfear Allah, his Lord. And donot conceal the testimony. Andhe who conceals it, then indeed,his heart is sinful. And Allah

s All Knower of what you do.


97/1258

284. To Allah belongswhatever is in the heavens, andwhatever is on the earth. Andwhether you make knownwhat is within yourselves, or conceal it, Allah will bringyou to account for it. ThenHe will forgive whom Hewills, and He will punish whomHe wills. And Allah has powerover all things.

285. The Messenger

(Muhammad) believes in thatwhich has been sent down tohimfrom his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believesn Allah, and His angels, andHis Books, and His messengers.(They say) We make no

distinction between any of Hismessengers, and they say: Wehear, and we obey. (We seek)Your forgiveness, our Lord.And to You is the return.


98/1258

286. Allah does not burden aperson beyond his capacity. Forhim (is the reward of) that(good) which he has earned, andupon him (is the punishmentof) that (evil) which he hasearned. Our Lord, take usnotto punish if we forget, or fallnto error. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden as thatYou laid upon those before us.Our Lord, and burden us not

with that which we have nostrength to bear. And pardonus, and forgive us, and havemercy upon us, You, ourprotector, and give us victoryover the disbelieving people.


99/1258

AalImranIn the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

1. Alif. Lam. Mim.

2. Allah, there is no god except

Him, the ever Living, theSustainer of all that exists.

3. He has sent down to you(Muhammad) the Book (theQuran) in truth, confirmingthat whichwas(revealed) before

t, and He revealed the Torahand the Gospel.

4. Before this, as a guidancefor mankind. And He sent downthe Criterion (the Quran).ndeed, those who disbelieve

the verses of Allah, for themthere is a severe punishment.And Allah is All Mighty, theOwner of Retribution.

5. Indeed, not a thing ishidden from Allah, in theearth,nor in the heavens.

6. He it is Who shapes youn the wombs however Hewills. There is no god except Him, the All Mighty, the AllWise.

7. He it is Who has sent downto you (Muhammad) the Book(the Quran). In it are clearverses,which arethe foundationof the Book, and others (thatare) allegorical. Then those inwhose hearts is a deviation,

they will follow that whichs allegorical in them (verses), seeking mischief, and seeking(their own) interpretation of it.And no one knows itsnterpretation except Allah.And those firm in knowledgesay: We believe in it, all isfrom our Lord. And no onereceives admonitionexcept thosewith understanding.

8. (They say):Our Lord, letnot our hearts deviate after

when You have guided us, and bestow upon us mercy fromYourself. Indeed, You are theBestower.

9. Our Lord, surelyYou willgather mankind on a Day inwhich there is no doubt. Indeed,Allah does not go against thepromise.

10. Indeed,those who disbelieve, neither their wealth, northeir children will avail themagainst Allah at all. And it isthey who will be the fuel for the Fire.

11. Like the behavior of thepeople of Pharaoh and thosebefore them. They denied Our signs, so Allah seizedthem for their sins. And Allah s severe in punishment.

12. Say (O Muhammad) to

those who disbelieve: You shallbe overcome, and you shall begathered to Hell. And(that is)an evil resting place.


102/1258

13. Indeed, there has been asign for you in the two armieswhich met (in the battle ofBadr). One army fighting in thecause of Allah, and the otherdisbelieving. They (thebelievers) saw them (thedisbelievers)twice their numberwith their own eyes. And Allahsupports with His victory whomHe wills. Indeed, in that is aesson for those who have

eyes to see.14. Beautified for mankind s love of that they desireof women, and sons,and heaped up sums ofgold, and silver, and horsesbranded, and cattle, and

tilled land. That isenjoyment of the life ofthe world. And Allah, WithHim is the excellent return.

15. Say: Shall I inform youof (something) better thanthese. For those who fear(Allah), with their Lordare, Gardens underneath whichrivers flow wherein they willabide forever, and purecompanions, and the goodpleasure of Allah. And Allah isAll Seer of His servants.

16. Those who say: OurLord, indeed, We havebelieved, so forgive us our sinsand protect us from thepunishment of the Fire.

17. The steadfast, and thetruthful, and the obedient, andthose who spend(in the causeof Allah), and those who seekforgiveness in the early hoursof the morning.

18. Allah (Himself) bearswitness that there is no godexcept Him. And the angels

and those with knowledge (alsobear witness), (that He is)maintaining (creation) inustice.There is no god except

Him, the All Mighty, the AllWise.

19. Truly, the religionwith Allah is Al Islam. Andthose who were given theScripture did not differ except after the knowledge had cometo them,out of jealousy amongthemselves. And whoeverdisbelieves in the signs ofAllah,then indeed, Allah is swift intaking account.

20. So ifthey argue with you,

(O Muhammad), say: I havesubmitted my face (self) toAllah, and (so have) those whofollow me. And say to thosewho were given the Scrip
