Areas need to be left clean and tidy atthe end of each work period.

Work areas need to be fenced off toprevent access by both adults andchildren.

Noise is a hazard in manycircumstances and should be kept to aminimum

Tools, materials and equipment shouldnot be left in public areas.

No utilities (water, power) should beshut down without warning.

All work must be carried out in a safemanner.

Permits to Work

Gippsland Southern Health Service usesno permits as no confined spaces exist.

Follow any of your company guidelineson this matter.

Hot Work may require the disabling ofpart of the Fire protection system toprevent false alarms. (Companies willbear any costs of false alarms)

Emergency ProceduresTreat every alarm as real unless warned of atest situation.

Fire system coverage can only be disabled

after notification. Coverage must bereinstated at the end of the day.

Assembly areas exist outside most buildings(EMERGENCY ASSEMBLY AREA)

Take direction from senior staff memberpresent.

Hazard Reporting

All hazards should be reported to yoursupervisor.

In cases of immediate danger,STOP WORKand have the hazard dealt with.

Hazards can be reported using theGippsland Southern Health ServiceHazard ID Form.

All incidents and injuries must bereported.

First Aid

First aid is available at either campus atthe Nurse Stations.

Contractors will supply first aid kits insite sheds, vehicles or lunch rooms.

Doctors operate as private practitionersand charge accordingly.

Work injuries need to be dealt withfollowing your company procedures.

Personal Protective EquipmentGippsland Southern Health Service isnot responsible to supply PPE tocontractors and their employees.

Contractors are required to identifywhere PPE should be used and ensurethat all employees use the suppliedPPE.

PPE should be kept in good workingorder or be replaced.

Restricted Areas

Restrictions are in place to reduce the risks toemployees, contractors, clients and thepublic.

Operating theatres are restricted area. Entryis by prior arrangement only.

All cleaners rooms and stores are locked to

limit entry and for security.Occupied rooms and offices. Knock First.

Security and Access

Some doors are keypad entry or exit forclient safety.

Ensure that nursing home residentsdont follow you out of locked doors

Timed locking of doors is in place in

some areas for staff security.Nightly security patrols are conducted.

Normal Operating Hours

Normal operating hours are 7.00 am to5.00 pm Monday to Friday.

Work outside these hours must benotified prior to the event.

Gippsland Southern Health Service

operates 24/7 Healthcare facilities.
