Building Information Modeling - Concrete
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the creation and use of coordinated 3D model via link to intelligent database for a construction project. BIM concrete model enables seamless collaboration between Architects, Engineers, Contractors and Sub-Contractors enabling quick decision making, accurate construction documents, better construction management. BIM offers structural engineers complete control over the design and detailing of concrete, steel and reinforcement.
Following structural elements are modelled in BIM:
Beam, Columns, Joists/Truss, Slab/Bracings, CMU/Pre-Cast Walls, Footings and Foundation, Stairs, Pile Details, Construction Joints, Rebar, Embeds, Shoring, etc.
Through BIM usage, we enhance Dynamic Rebar detailing & shop drawings and create ‘intelligent’ rebar objects for incorporation in Revit Structure 3-D models. Since BIM can easily combine pre-cast concrete with other building materials like steel and reinforced concrete, we promote efficient project management & error-free collaboration throughout the entire building value chain.

Request For Information
The 3D BIM is updated on the basis of the responses to the RFIs. Status of all RFIs are maintained in a log and follow-up is done to resolve them at the preconstruction stage. This eliminates work stoppages and reworks during construction.
Constructability Review for Reinforcement
Virtual project constructions in BIM enable independent reviews of the construction plans and specifications. This identifies discrepancies in drawings and all constructability issues at preconstruction stage. During the constructability review, our BIM team generates a series of RFIs to help to identify the following types of constructability and operational issues:

Rebar Quantity Schedule
BIM helps to accurately calculate the required quantity measures of all materials. These quantities are automatically updated whenever there are any changes in the BIM model. Quantity Take-off (QTO) reports can be formatted in Excel and exported to a database for detailed analysis. Quantities can be generated for a specific time period or project area (4D/5D) to help manage material procurement and save inventory costs.

The model is plotted on paper and a preliminary grid-by-grid check is done by comparing with the original contract documents. At least one member of the Project Management team assists in this process.
The project's Team Leader sends a status report to the QC Department to begin QC Phase II.
QC Check Phase II
The QC Team performs a more detailed comparison of the contract documents against the 3D BIM model. A specific Checklist is prepared to review/check the deliverables. Its main objective is to review, identify and address the following:
The QA/QC Team continuously interacts with the Project Lead and other team members to resolve all technical issues related to the project.
The Project Manager conducts the preshipment check before sending them to the client.
Our quality control (QC) process is ISO 9001:2008 certified and managed by an independent QC team. The main objective of the QC process is to detect errors and rectify them.
Ensuring quality is a group effort and our QC team comprises experienced and dedicated members.

Contractor Pinnacle’s scope of this project included developing the entire exterior Rebar model for beams, columns, slabs, and joists for other trade coordination. The other trade coordination was performed with the exterior embeds of precast panels which is controlled by the general contractor. Pinnacle provided level wise exterior rebar model to Baker concrete and they submittedthe model to GC for the coordination. After the trade coordination GC fixed the clashes and finalized some new changes in the drawings.
