Sony offers operators a choice of 3D projection systems for use with virtually any cinema – from small independent theatres to large auditoriums.

Combining Sony’s industry-leading 4K projectors with a choice of dual lens and polarising filter packs, the complete systems allow movie-goers to enjoy a smooth, immersive 3D entertainment experience.

When configured with the LKRL-A002, LKRL-A003, LKRL-A502 or LKRL-A503, Sony 4K Digital Cinema projectors show two images simultaneously that are viewed by audiences wearing polarising glasses. Unlike ‘triple-flash’ systems that rapidly present different images to each eye in turn, this eliminates flashing effects that may distract some audience members when viewing fast-paced action scenes.

The complete dual lens/filter system for the projector is combined with cost-effective new passive polarising glasses. Light and comfortable to wear, the glasses feature attractive Sony Digital Cinema 3D branding and are available in Adults’ and Children’s sizes.

* Please note: LKRL-A502 and LKRL-A503 are also compatible with the SRX-R510P. However Sony normally recommends 3D operation with the SRX-R515P: this offers extended headroom to address future requirements for higher brightness, even on smaller cinema screens.

Easy-on-the eye 3D with no flashing Sony’s unique dual lens system displays 3D movies at their native 2K resolution. Separate Left and Right eye images are projected simultaneously to achieve smooth, crisp stereoscopic 3D images. Comfortable for audiences to watch, this eliminates the problems inherent with systems using ‘triple flash’ 3D image technology that can cause viewer discomfort.

Light, easy to wear passive glasses Audiences can enjoy the show through passive polarising 3D glasses that are specially matched for best results with the SRX-R320SP and SRX-R515P/R510P, avoiding the risk of inaccurate colour Imagery or excessive crosstalk (‘ghosting’). Light, comfortable to wear and available in adults’ and children’s sizes, these cost-effective glasses carry Sony Digital Cinema 3D branding to help cinema operators differentiate their offering from other 3D options.

Cost effective with no license fee The Sony 3D Polarising System is available to cinema operators as a ‘one off’ purchase. There are no licensing fees required, helping cinemas control operating costs.

Rich, vivid colour quality in 3D 3D images are displayed with full 12-bit, 4:4:4 colour quality. This offers uncompromised colour clarity and richness compared with other projection systems that reduce colour quality to 10-bit, 4:2:2 when displaying 3D images.

High Frame Rate Compatible The SRX-R320SP, SRX-R515P and SRX-R510P projectors are compatible with latest High Frame Rate (HFR) Digital Cinema Packages (DCP), with no additional hardware required. Projection with the SRX-R320SP requires an optional HFR license, LSM-A1. HFR capability is supported as standard in the SRX-R515P/R510P.

For silver cinema screens As with all 3D polarising systems, a silver cinema projection screen is required for use of the Sony 3D Polarising System. This is in order to maintain polarisation of images reflected from the screen. The SRX-R320SP and SRX-R515P/R510P also require other general installation requirements to be met, including the suitability of the projection booth window glass. Please contact your Sony Digital Cinema specialist dealer for further details.

Maximum screen sizes are indicative, and actual results will be dependent on individual installation conditions. Figures calculated for 2.2 gain silver screen, 80% lamp power and 93% projection window transmittance.
