NEW FEATURES IN DELTAGEN 2018

Enhanced model preparationDELTAGEN 2018 has made a lot of improvements in connectivity, data handling and CAD part update processes.

Support of XPDMXML files for 3DEXPERIENCE®DELTAGEN and DELTABATCH now support the import of XPDMXML files, allowing you to work with the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform. You can import XPDMXML files that include model parts with NURBS, UVs, materials, metadata and entire assembly structures.

Advanced pickingFor faster scene staging it is very useful to be able to pick objects placed behind transparent ones without the need of hiding them manually. With advanced picking you can easily select objects that are difficult to get to and/or are occluded by picking through the occluding objects. Advanced picking works in combination with DELTAGEN’s selection modes and can be activated at any time. The angle of the picking ray is recomputed each time the viewer changes direction, allowing you to still navigate in your scene.

Jacketing configuratorAchieve much better model reduction results, compared to jacketing single parts, by defining occluders and quickly compare jacketing results using different quality settings.

The new jacketing configurator saves time and effort by letting you customize the jacketing processes per group or part and allows you to define the parts of the model to be considered as occluders.

High-end visualization with Stellar - DStellar

Accurate reflectionsFor reflection investigations, a high frame rate is desired because you want to analyze the reflections while changing your viewport interactively. In order to achieve this speed on even a single desktop machine, the user can define on which parts of the model the time consuming accurate reflections are calculated. In Stellar it is now possible to generate accurate reflections even in Rasterizing mode. This means that you can use Raytracing functionality for selected objects while rendering in Rasterizing mode.

Curves and linesLines and curves can now also be visualized in Stellar rendering. In comparison to Look rendering, it is available in all render modes. Additionally, in the Object editor you can define the thickness of the curves and lines.

Support of goniometric lightsGoniometric lights (currently .ies files only) can now be loaded into DELTAGEN. Light settings can be customized in your .ies files and then refreshed within DELTAGEN or directly adjusted in the Object editor. This type of light can also be animated and is supported in all render modes (Rasterizer, Raytracer, Global Illumination).

Enhanced functionality

New turntable usabilityYou can now optimize the use of turntables for your design and comparison processes. The new usability allows you to enter a vertical offset between the turntables and the model’s origin or bounding box.

Improved multiselection of switchesThis feature enhancement makes working with switch objects easier and more dynamic. DELTAGEN classifies switch children into Common and Uncommon, creating an intuitive way to activate, display and keep track of multiple switch variants.

Improved automatic unwrappingAutomatic unwrapping has been enhanced with new functionalities. In addition, a new set of tools allows you to manually tweak dedicated UV layouts (for example seat belts).

Removing override looksTo simplify workflows you now have the option to easily remove override looks from an object or the whole scene. This function can be used in DELTAGEN and DELTABATCH.

DASSAULT SYSTEMES License Server supportIn addition to FlexLM, the DS License Server (DSLS) is supported for licensing DELTAGEN. This allows for easier maintenance of your systems, especially if other software packages are running with the DS License Server. During the installation process you can choose your preferred license server.

VERSION CHANGE AND COMPATIBILITYWhen loading scenes from previous versions, DELTAGEN checks for ID consistency in the scene and informs about possible inconsistencies.

If duplicate IDs are identified, the user log contains a list of entities to which a new ID has been assigned. Those elements may have malfunctioned in animations, variants or networks in the old version and may need to be reassigned to their targets.
