ENJOY THE SHOW!
In April 2012, the University
of New Hampshire did
a great job putting on the
3rd Annual Peeps Show – Peep Your
Way to Health.
Everyone in the UNH community was
invited to create a diorama of what it
means to be healthy. The only rule was that the diorama had to include PEEPS!
Health can include any component of the Wellness Wheel.
There are 8 components to wellness: environmental, emotional, spiritual, physical, financial, occupational, social and intellectual.
17 WONDERFUL dioramas were submitted by students and staff!
The dioramas were all on display and available for viewing online!
The winners are those who got the most votes at the LIVE PEEPS SHOW and ONLINE!
Check out these great dioramas submitted by individuals!
I can feel the excitement!
DRUM ROLL PLEASE……
The prizes were fabulous! Who are the lucky winners?
Enough talking! Lets see the winners and all the submissions!
Most people are familiar with theWizard of Oz- the scarecrow whowants a brain, the tin man who wants a heart, the lion who wants courage, and Dorothy, the girl with the ruby red slippers trying to find her way home. For this diorama I wanted to show how those characters could alsoprovide a vision for ways to create wellness in our lives. Enjoy your journey to the Emerald City, where the blue bunny wizard will help you to see that you have the power to control your own feeling ofwellness!

Couch-2-5KAn overweight, sedentary, and couch Peeptato our peep begins a transforming journey: destination health and wellness! Start by slowly shedding fluff and trimming sugary coatings, next add activity and exercise, then train to run a 5K race; all mark achievable milestones. The “Couch-2-5K” program starts by alternating walking and running small distances, slowly building endurance until running 5K non-stop is achieved. Celebrations ensue after finishing the “Peeper” 5K in Barrington, NH!

Absolutely, Positively Self-Loving Peeps“Sexual pleasure and orgasm is the source of life and creativity.” Betty Dodson,Artist, Author, and Sexologist, said this. For nearly three decades, Betty has run bodysex groups where women learn about their bodies and their orgasms. She has empowering women to fully love themselves, and has nurtured women into wholeness of body, mind, and spirit. Women, men, and transgender individuals have all gained from knowing Betty and her important work on sexual liberation.

Enjoying Health Around the TriangleHealth covers many aspects of one’s life--mental, physical, and social well being. Each part of the triangle is equally important. On the physical side, a peep is snowboarding, and there are peeps behind the triangle who are enjoying a jog through college woods. On the mental side, there is a peep getting some rest, some reading in the library, and also a peep getting help at the Counseling Center. On the social side, peeps are dancing to music, sharing a meal together, and building a snowman.

Get Up, Get Out, Get Well! For me, wellness and health is all about staying active and enjoying the natural world. These peeps agree! Some go bird watching out in the trees, some play frisbee with friends, have a picnic with their special peep, or do archery in the great outdoors.

Fun at Mount PeepThese peeps are having a blast hiking up Mt. Peep for some fun in the snow. Little birdie peep is having a good time on his sled, while others are cheering on their friends as they take the plunge down Mt. Peep for some big mountain runs. The peeps are styling in full “onesie” outfits (with built in helmets for safety of course). I have discovered a love for this sport, and the peeps agree that nothing feels better than the open air, a little adrenaline, and making memories with friends.

Healthy Peeps and a Healthy EnvironmentIt is important for peeps to take good care of themselves by leading a healthy lifestyle involving a well-balanced diet with lots of fruits and veggies, daily exercise, a good-night’s sleep and time spent outside. A healthy lifestyle, however, is not enough if the peeps do not live in a healthy world! By recycling, utilizing the sun’s energy with solar panels, hang-drying clothes, and getting water from a well, these peeps are showing that they care about their environment!

Wellness for Life thru Activity in Sport
Participation in organized sports fulfills many aspects of the Wellness. Regular activity reduces the risk of major illness, maintain normal sleep cycle and reduce bad types of stress (Physical/Emotional). Team members learn communication skills, and develop strong interpersonal relationships (Social). Sports help developing critical thinking skills (Intellectual). Sports may give meaning to someone’s life (Spiritual), particularly if they face challenges in other aspects of life.Made by Althetic Training staff from the UNH Athletic Department - Christine Alarcon, Jon Dana, Renee Kleszczynski, Meg Lesnikoski, Cindy Michaud, Glenn Riefenstahl, Dan Sedory, Katie Sheehan and Barbara Hemphill.
Peeps Need SleepThe Peeps are demonstrating healthy and non-healthy sleep hygiene in their dorm room. On the unhealthy side, Peeps are engaging in staying up late, watching TV, and eating junk food. On the healthy side, the peeps are tucked into bed at a reasonable hour, and their environment is conducive to successful schoolwork and a regular sleep cycle

There are many free and fun ways to exercise around the UNH campus such as taking a class at the gym, walking through college woods, playing basketball and going for walks around campus! Some of the many benefits to exercise are meeting new people, improve your mood and self-esteem, learn new interests, increase energy level and decrease risk of disease. Regular doctor’s visits, especially for children and as well as college students, promote better health for the future. These check-ups highlight disease prevention and education about individual health, so we can all strive towards a “Healthier America”.
