Welcome from Pugh Farms We are truly excited to invite you to be a part of our 3rd annual online sale. We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to those who bid and bought in our past two sales, we feel very fortunate to have our genetics present in some excellent programs that we respect. A big part of the reason this sale exists is to allow us the opportunity to work with other breeders and producers, and we are grateful for that. This year’s offering is once again the cream of our 2014 crop, and we’ve changed it up a bit from our past sales. This is a year that will be remembered as a turning point in the cattle industry, and with the high number of cows that permanently exited the Canadian herd, we believe that high quality females are the key to every breeder’s program even more so now. With that in mind, we’ve included a couple of bred heifers as well as a couple of open ones, and also some bulls that are chock full of the maternal characteristics we feel are necessary. We take pride in presenting genetics that are a little bit different, allowing for an outcross for most programs. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at all. PUGH FARMS ONLINE PRODUCTION SALE DATES AND TIMESThe auction has been set to run from 9:00 a.m. MST on Monday, December 1, 2014 with the Internet close out to start with the first lot at 7:00 p.m. MST Thursday, December 4th. We will then proceed to sell each lot using either a 30 or 45 second bidding clock until all lots are sold. Meaning once the pre announced time has expired without a bid that lot will be considered sold to the last highest bidder. A sale order will be posted 9:00 Thursday morning. If you don’t have computer access, phone in bids will be accepted at the numbers listed on the terms and conditions page. Be sure to register early to allow the necessary time to be put in to the system.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE· In order to participate in the online auction you will need to pre-register and obtain a buyer number.· To do this, go to the LiveAuctions website, www.liveauctions.tv, and select Pugh Farms Online Production Sale.· After logging in the buyer registration form should pop up automatically. If it doesn’t there is a link you can select that says, “register for a buyer number” which is located right under your name in the top right hand corner.· This form requires you to fill out your banks name, city, state, phone number and a contact.· You may register to bid after bidding has opened but please remember that authorization to bid is not instantaneous.

HOW THE AUCTION WORKS· Once you have a username and have received a buyer number then you are ready to bid. You will see a screen that is unique to your user ID.· There will be a list containing the sale lots. If you click on a lot the video clip or photo will be displayed to the right. The next bid, current price, proxy bid, and manual bid buttons will be displayed below the video area. This page will react to your bids by stating, “you are in” or “you are out”.· No one else will be able to see your bid – that data is not accessible to the public.· Each time you login, the auction screen will display your personal bidding information. Your auction screen is unique and private displaying your activity to only you.· Remember that you must have the lot that you are bidding on selected. This is where it tells you if you are in or out. It is here where you can also see your proxy bid settings(as applicable).

WHAT IS A PROXY BID? With a proxy bid you can enter your maximum bid and then sit back and watch. When you enter a proxy bid amount the LiveAuctions system automatically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid. If the lot closes out for less than your maximum, that’s all you pay. This means that you don’t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time anotherbid is placed. This makes it more convenient and less time consuming. It can also greatly assists those breeders that can’t be near a computer or are busy with other duties at the time of the final bidding. Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders and the seller. Even though you can see this amount on your screen no one else can. The LiveAuctions system compares your bid to those of the other registered bidders and the system automatically places bids on your behalf, using only as much of your bid as is necessary to maintain your high bid position. The system will bid only up to your maximum amount as necessary to maintain you as the high bidder. If another bidder has a higher maximum, you’ll be outbid and the system will tell you that “YOU’RE OUT”. But, if no other bidder has a higher maximum you win the final bid. The final close out bidding process: After each sale we receive a few calls after the sale from breeders who were interested in bidding on a heifer but failed to watch the bidding clock and let the bidding time expire. When the bidding starts, the bidding clock will run for a pre announced time (usually 30 or 45 seconds or until there is a bid at which time the clock will rewind to its original 30 or 45 seconds. (Whatever time used will be preannounced). For example: if the bidding clock gets down to 1 second remaining then a higher bid is submitted, the clock will then restart. This rewind process will continue with each bid received until the allotted time elapses without a bid. Then the lot will be considered sold. So if you are interested in a particular heifer be sure to submit your bidwhile there is still time on the clock. This is where using the proxy bid can come in handy insuring you do not miss a bid!

After a very successful flush last spring, 86P, who is truly one of our foundation females, was bred back to the one of the new members of our bull battery, Rio 123Z, a purchase made out of the Right Cross program. Django 86B is the result of the mating, and combines a bold muscle pattern and explosive rib shape with extreme maternal strength from both sides of the pedigree. The genetics wrapped up inside this guy provide an abundance of outcross to the Red Angus breed. He is a curve bender in his EPD profile coming off a 0.4 BW to an explosive 112 YW. This heifer has set herself apart to be included in this group from day one. “Extreme” is often looked upon as a negative term in the purebred business, but we simply can’t think of another way to describe this growthy heifer who is extremely heavily muscled while still being extremely stylish. Her sire, King 24Y, has earned his spot in our bull group with a big square foot, and early developing sexual maturity. We certainly have appreciated his contribution in this year’s calf crop and believe that 228B exemplifies his best traits. Thor along with his mother were a herd favorite on the summer 2013 tours at our place and what a bull he has grown up to be. They together were the National Senior Champions last fall at Farmfair. He himself was the Junior Champion Bull at the recent Angus Gold Show at Stockade. Thor has so many options for so many breeders. He is as deep sided as one we have made to date and carries himself on sound bone and feet. He comes from a dam that is truly the front pasture kind and will continue to affect our program genetically for years to come. The EPD profile is of special note on this young sire where he is expressing explosive growth numbers ranking him in the top 3% for both WW, YW and CW and top 8% for TM. Fat Tony has become a household name on so many continents and we couldn’t be more proud of the Success that our customers have had with his progeny all over the globe. After he himself was a NWSS Grand Champion he has gone on to sire more sale toppers and show winners then there are room here to list. His progeny are stout muscled and angular with the females making productive cows and the bulls siring calves stamped with the muscle shape he is known for. Loose Change is the representative for our Hereford program in the sale once again this year. We feel he continues to have so much to offer the industry in so many different ways. He packs a tremendous EPD profile. He has sired the kind we not only strive for here but our recent reports on his progeny across the country are excellent. The females are deep bodied through their rib shape and wide in their base with feminine heads. His bulls are also deep sided and long spined with herd bull masculinity and are large in their loins and wide through their top. We feel he is shaping our Hereford program more and more each year and look forward to calving out his first daughters this spring as they look to be laying square teat sets and are unionized in their fore udder to their underline.
