PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE/ PRESENT

PERFECT CONTINUOUS

ORIENTACIONES

You need to pay attention and remember the verbs in Past

participle to make statements in Present Perfect Simple and

Present Perfect Continuous.

Don’t forget that for making sentences in these grammar tenses

is neccesary to use auxiliaries HAVE or HAS.

We use auxiliary HAVE with I, You,We, They and the auxiliary

HAS for He, She and It.

To ask question we just invert, so start with the auxiliary.

In some cases the meaning is similar when using Present

Perfect Simple or Continuous.

• I have lived in Las Vegas for 10 years

• Meaning = I moved to Las Vegas 10 years ago and I still live here today.

• The Present Perfect connects the past and the present.

PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS- Negative

form

IMPORTANT:

we DON’T use the Present Perfect Continuous with stative (non-action) verbs; instead, we prefer to use the Present Perfect.

Example:

1) I have been knowing Maria for many years.

-INCORRECT

2) I have known Maria for Many years.

-CORRECT

Remember for making statements in present perfect you need to put

auxiliaries have or has and the VERB ( Past participle ).

We use the Present perfect to talk about activities that started in the

past and continues to the present. For talking about experiences or for

actions that just had happened.

We use The Present Perfect continuous for an action that continues

over a period of time up to now ; and also for repeated actions.

The structure is : subject+ auxiliary (have/has) +been +verb (ing ) +
