My objective is to obtain a internship position at an architectural or landscape architecture firm to further develop my understanding of the industry

rand hone my skills that I have obtained thus far in Landscape Architecture

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

Randy M. Goodloe Architects May 12-Aug 12At Randy Goodloe Architects I worked as an intern for a small firm that specialized in high end residential and local corporate buildings. My duties included typical office work such as organizing and cleaning, as well as a lot of time in AutoCAD. My jobs consisted of doing red lines, and general

drafting of floor plans and full set of construction documents. Eventually I Waste Water Specialties May 11-Aug 11While at WWS I worked as a technician cleaning up environmental spills and other hazardous materials. This job allowed me to work in teams, solv-ing problems, and provided me with an appreciation for my education and hard work. Buquet & LeBlanc Construction May 09-Aug 09During the summer after my freshman in college I worked in Baton Rouge as a carpenters assistant. During my time there I helped in the renovation of the LSU Union Theatre, and saw the first phase of construction completed. I learned all that is involved with putting a project together, such as the

various companies and industries that come together. I was rewarding to see a project from start to finish and being used by the public.

CONCEPT STATEMENT THE IDEA BEHIND THIS NEW STRATEGY FOR THE PARK IS A SIMPLE YET EFFECTIVE METHOD. THE NEW STRATEGY CALLS FOR DIRECTIONAL CUTS THROUGH THE EXISTING TOPOGRAPY, SLICING AND PEELING BACK MOUNDS, BRIDGING ECOLOGICAL ZONES AND TRAVERSINGTHE EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE IN NEW AND INNOVATIVEWAYS. THESE CUTS BOTH VISUALLY AND MENTALLY CONNECT CERTAIN KEY ASPECTS OF THE SIGHT IN BOTH OLD AND NEW PROGRAM PROVIDED. COUPLED WITH MORE TRANSPORTATION STOPS ALONG THE PERIPHERY, AND AN EXTENDED PEDESTRIAN NETWORK, THE CIRCULATION OF THE PARK IS MORE EFFECTIENT AND EFFECTIVE. ALSO BY UTILIZING NEW TOPOGRAPHIC BUFFER ALONG THE EDGES, THE CENTER OF THE PARK IS MITIGATED FROM EXTERIOR NOISE OF THE BUSTLING CITY. THE OVERALL GOAL SEEKSTO ACHIEVE SOCIAL, ENVIORMENTAL AND ECONOMIC TO THE CITY AND THE ADJACENT NEIGHBORHOODS

Widen pathway extends bike path down levee connecting N. and S. Baton Rouge. Concrete walls extend

through site to slow sediment in high water level ows.

New built up land provides new open interaction space in an area previously occu-pied by swamp lands.

Adjacent river contains valuable sediments used in the sedimentation process. Flucuating levels provide obsevrations of dynamic water landscape.

Elevated boardwalk through the site allows the user to experience the site amonst and above the trees and planting, while also being above ood heights.

Lawn cuts through plantings visually connecting the Capital with the Mississippi River.

Access points along the site allow for users from dierent regions of Downtown to DeSoto. Paths are elevated to allow access year around and during time of train barriers.

Due to the violent nature of Desoto Parks location it is suc-ceptiable to varying water levels through out the year, leaving scum lines and sediment stains. Every couple of years require rou-tine maintenance and cleaning to up keep its beautiful white facade.

Another wonderful feature of DeSoto is the lovely meadow that greets the visitor. In order to achieve this, routine mowing of the elds and lawns every ve years allow the grasses to grow, but is cut before trees begin to seed. This achieves a unied feel-ing throughout the years.

Because of the large sediment walls implemented throughout various locations, debris and trash can become lodged around the walls and underneath the catwalk. After ood waters receed, mainte-nance crews come in to clean the site of trash and other things sent down from the Mississippi River.

In the beginning of the site the user is greeted with organized with rows of lovely Pecan Trees. These rows are maintained by cutting the lower branches to de-velop the canopy and remove dead matter.
