Topography :

Topographically the area is undulating with a number ofsubdued hills with a slope towards the south. The

proposed quarry falls within the land, the survey

numbers of which are noted earlier. Vegetation in thatportion due to the pressure of rocky terrain. Highest

elevation of the area is 510 m above MSL and lowest is

480 MSL. The drainage of the area controlled by a

seasonal channel located towards SW side which joints

to a seasonal stream. The contour map/ surface plan ofthe area proposed for the quarry is enclosed plate 2.

Regional Geology:

The lease area is a gneissic terrain occurring in a hilly

region charnockite rock is exposed in the lease iegion

along with quartz-biotite-gneiss. ln the neighborhood

cordierite gneiss occur as concordant bands in

charnockite

Local Geology:

The area is dorninantiy covered with massive

charnock:telchar-nockite gneiss r"vhich is very weii

expcsed. ln acoition, quartz - biotlte gneiss form a

miricr oortion of the quar"ry site. Soil cover in the area

l'ange from 0.5 to Lm thickness. The massive

charnockite / charnockite gneiss of the quarry are

medium to coarse grained, whjch beiongs tocharnockite-khondalite group of Kerala and consist ofhypersthene, quartz, plagioclase, microcline, biotiteand garnet with magnetite, apatite, zircon and otheraccessory minerals.

Normally closure of mining operations will arise on thefollowing factors

i) Exhaustion of resource

ii) Uneconomic operation

iii) Directives from Statutory authorities

Mineable reserves of the pro.lect are 235,g12 tonnes and

the life ofthe quarrywould be 5 years based on the presentrate of production 47,162 TpA

Topography :

Topographically the area is an undulating terrain sloping

towards south. There is no vegetation in that locality due to

extensive rocky exposures.

The proposed quarry location constitutes a terrain consisting

charnockite rocks, granitic gneiss.- Charnockite occurring in

NE-SW strike direction with gently dipping south ward.

The lease area is situated in granititic occurring in high hill

ranges. All most the entire lease area is exposed by charnockite

rock. The other rock type in the area is mainly quartz-biotite-

gneiss. The feldspar exhibits porphyritic structure

plantations in the periphery of the lease area to arrest

dust and to act as noise barrier. plantation schedule for
