2018 The PREZ says: “VOLUNTEERS” A good friend and member of mine said to me that although we were 3rd in the satae for Membership for 2017. How come we don’t have more members volunteer and support our clug? “GOOD QUESTION!” Like my friend said that sometimes Quantity is not always out way Quality. When you don’t have members to help make our club better. Please, with as many members we have come up and help, we are not asking every day. Once a week or every other week will make a difference. To all my brother and sisters. If you’re not helping to make it right, then stop com- plaining about it being wrong. Thank you Your Worthy Prez, Danny (Gripper) Griggs MADAM PREZ SAYS: SPRING IS ALMOST HERE!! St. Patrick’s Day is on a Saturday this year, so have fun and drive careful! There won’t be a Zingo this month due to our fish fry going on. Donna needs dona- tions for April and May Zingo. Let’s help her out people. There has to be something our members can donate. There’s been a nasty flu and respiratory bug going around and a lot of our members have had it. I hope all of you are feeling better real soon because we miss seeing you. Queen of Diamonds is still going on so get down to the club and get your tickets. I know some of you are waiting til the jackpot gets higher, but remember this. The jackpot will not get higher without you buying tick- ets. So get them now so you lose out of the opportunity to win the big money!! I have to apologize to our wonderful news- letter editor, Krista Luke. Just about every month she has to remind me to get the letter in. She’s on top of things, that’s for sure. As for me, I like snow and have always been a little critical of those who flee at the first sign of flurries. That said though Snowbirds have always been a bit of a curiosity to me. Especially the shared smugness of these Snowbirds who make a point every day of checking the internet to see what the weather’s like back home in Michigan. And then they have to go and make a bunch of rude comments on Facebook about how nice it is there! “Yeah, I get it, it’s 70 de- grees and you’re drinking a Margarita on the ocean-side patio, good for you!” Really, do they actually believe that they’re smarter than those of us traversing the snowy roads or dodging potholes here in Michigan? Ob- viously not but face it they may be the more fortunate. I never really understood the attraction so many Michigander’s have gone to the State of Florida having been there during the hot and humid summer time. However the Snowbirds talk about the gentle breezes, the sunshine, the dolphins, frosty bever- ages seaside or by the pool and golfing dur- ing the winter months there. The traffic gridlock you’ll encounter is number one followed closely by the 20% higher cost of living. And I cer- tainly don’t have a fondness for snake’s and Gators! This past winter wasn’t all to great for these Snowbirds either as it was pretty cold with the State actually getting snow. And that’s to say the least about the threat of Hurricanes and Tropical Storms. Ironically as you’re reading this thought, we’ll be vacationing in Florida for a week or two ourselves. And why? We’ve spoken to a few of our Snow-bird friends and family who live there in Florida and they’ve assured us we’ll have a ball as there’s so much to see and do. And that’s aside from Disney and the numerous Botanical Gardens, Wineries, Parks, Zoo’s Aquariums, Cruises and Water Tours. You can even go in the glades alligator hunting or deep-sea fishing in the ocean if you like. Be sure we’ll hit a few of the Sea-food establishments along the coast

while we’re there. We haven’t many specific goals other than to maybe take in a Tiger’s spring training game in Lakeland, maybe find an Eagles or two and play in the ocean. Regardless we’ll take in as much as we can and hurry back before the rush of Spring Breakers. Shoot….we’re already looking forward to the Fourth of July in the U.P. and eating Pasties, doubt we’ll ever be Snowbirds!!

Mark your calendars Thunder for Hunger
