Quality ControlYou may have noticed a few miles onthe odometer when you took deliveryof your Lexus. This mileage is a resultof the comprehensive process used toensure the quality of your vehicle. Thisprocess includes extensive inspec-tions during and after production. Thefinal inspection takes place at the sell-ing dealership and includes a road-test conducted by a trained Lexustechnician.

If you’d like to know more aboutLexus quality-control procedures, aska Lexus dealership service consultant.

Vehicle Service HistoryWhen you have your vehicle servicedat a Lexus dealership, your serviceinformation is recorded in the LexusNational Service History database. This is the first database of its kind inthe automotive industry. It can beaccessed by any Lexus dealership inthe United States — a great conven-ience if you relocate or need to haveyour vehicle serviced while traveling.

Vehicle Service AgreementsIf you plan to keep your vehicle forseveral years or if you accumulatemileage quickly, you may want to pur-chase a Lexus vehicle service agree-ment. These agreements cover the

cost of specific repairs beyond thefactory warranty period. They alsocover services such as towing, substi-tute transportation and lodging tominimize your inconvenience shouldyour vehicle require repair. Lexusvehicle service agreements are avail-able with a variety of coverageoptions. A Lexus dealership salesconsultant can help you select theplan that’s best for you.

Body RepairsIf you’re involved in a collision, youwant your vehicle to be returned toits pre-accident condition whenrepaired. That’s why it is important tomake sure repairs are made only withGenuine Lexus Parts. Some repairshops and insurance companies maysuggest using imitation or salvagedparts to save money. However, theseparts do not meet Lexus’ high stan-dards for quality, fit and corrosionresistance. In addition, imitation andsalvaged parts (and any damage orfailures they may cause) are not cov-ered by any Lexus warranty.

The best way to ensure that your vehi-cle is repaired with Genuine LexusParts is to take it to a Lexus dealer-ship. Each dealership works withselected collision repair centers thatmeet Lexus’ strict requirements for

training, equipment, quality and cus-tomer satisfaction. These repair cen-ters use Genuine Lexus Parts exclu-sively in the repair of Lexus vehicles.

The Smart KeyYour Lexus vehicle was made withtwo “Smart Keys” and an aluminumkey-number plate. Each Smart Keyincludes an electronic main key thathas an integrated mechanical back-upkey. The electronic key controls theremote-entry and theft-deterrent sys-tems, enables the push-button startswitch and controls the engine immo-bilizer. The mechanical key can beremoved from the electronic key andused to operate the driver’s door lock, the glove box lock and the trunk lock(if equipped).

Replacing the KeyYour Lexus dealer can generatereplacement keys. Certain bonded/registered locksmiths may also beable to generate replacement keys. When ordering a new key, bring allkeys for the vehicle to your dealer-ship. If a Smart Key or the key-num-ber plate is not available, a Lexusdealer or certain locksmiths canobtain the key code from a restricted-access database. These businesses

can also access a service utility toregister the keys to the vehicle if allregistered keys have been lost.

If you lock your key in your vehicleand do not have a spare, your dealercan make a new mechanical key fromthe code on the key-number plate.Certain bonded/registered lock-smiths may also be able to generatea replacement mechanical key. If aLexus dealer is not available, pleaserefer to www.aloa.org to find a bond-ed/registered locksmith who per-forms high-security key service.

Keeping the Key SafeReplacing a Smart Key may be costly. We advise you to keep a spare SmartKey and the key-number plate in asafe place. If you record the key num-ber in more than one place, do notrecord it in a way that can be easilyidentified and associated with thevehicle. For example, don’t leave thenumber somewhere that can beaccessed by a valet. It is wise to keepa copy of the key number outside ofthe vehicle.
