4-H Horse Club End Of Year Banquet Held

The Colorado County 4-H Horse Club had their end of the year banquet at Details, in Wei- mar on July 31.

A potluck supper was served with door prizes and a drawing preceding the awards ceremony. Awards were earned by each of the hard working 4-Her"s in their specific Member Divisions.

Pee-Wee and Beginners re- ceived trophies after receiving ribbons during the Summer Rid- ing Program.

The Junior, Intermediate, and Senior divisions earned a Buckle for over all High Point, and Tack awards for the remaining plac- ings.

The 2005-2006 Officers were

recognized along with the incom- ing 2006-2007 Officers. Friends of 4-H Awards were presented to people not directly associ- ated with 4-H that volunteered their time and support to our club throughout the year, with special awards presented to our sponsors.

Thank you to the following sponsors, Colorado County Fair Association, Colorado Valley Vet- erinary Association, Columbus Livestock Company, Eagle Lake General Store, First National Bank-Columbus Branch, Mr. Jack Greenwade, and OakLeaf Leather.

We would also like to thank all of our active parents who have

children in the 4-H Horse Club, without you, our club would not be possible.

The ceremony was concluded with announcements and clos- ing.

Thank you to everyone who participated in making this 4-H year a great success!

The 4-H Horse Club's first

meeting in the new 4-H year will be held on September 19, at the Colorado County Extension Office at 7 p.m.

submitted books for District Re- cord Book Judging competition. The judging event took place on July 12, in Victoria. Completing a record book is one of the require- ments a 4-Her must meet in order to apply for the Star Awards in 4-H.

In the Junior Division, Aaron Weishuhn received a blue rib- bon for his Beef book, Shelby Hoelscher received a blue for her Food & Nutrition book and Lauren Zajicek placed 1st with her Health book. The junior division is made

up of youth between the ages of 8 and 10. All of these are members of the Frelsburg 4-H Club.

Three 4-Hers participated in the Intermediate Division, which is youth between 11 and 13 years of age. Ross Weishuhn received a blue ribbon for his Beef book, Nicholas Hoelscher placed 1st with his Gardening & Horticul- ture book and Lindsey Zajicek received a blue ribbon for her Shooting Sports book. Weishuhn, Hoelscher and Zajicek are Frels- burg 4-H Club members.

The.Senior Division books

included Lauren Trojacek, Frels- burg 4-H, placed 1st with her Health book, Jacob Weishuhn, Frelsburg 4-H, placed 1st with his Healthy Lifestyles Open Category book, Stacy Jobe, 4-H Horse Club, received a blue ribbon for her Horse book and Kristy Kulhanek,

Frelsburg 4-H, received a blue ribbon for her Rabbit book. Tro- jacek and Weishuhn's book were submitted for State Record Book judging, held August 1 in San An- tonio. Both 4-H members placed 6th in their category.

counterfeit. Police continue to search for a

common denominator in the five cases, hoping to draw a link to the producer of these bills.

"Many of those involved in the incident deal only in cash and are not part of the credit card society. This makes tracing the path of the bills very difficult," Lattimore said.

The Secret Service continue to assist the Eagle Lake Police Department in the investigation.

"We'll handle the actual pass- ing of the bills on the state level, with charges of forgery by pass- ing. If we manage to discover the source of the counterfeit bills, the the Secret Service will be called in," Lattimore said.
