Timothy Girl Poem Glog Statement
There comes a time when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own
heart. (Sarah Dessen). I had a journey that led me to understand what my heart was
saying and a literal journey. I had written a poem before this one, but I wasnt satisfied
with it. I realized that the one important thing in my life wasnt there: my faith. When I
wrote this poem I made sure faith was omnipresent. The main journey seen was the
little girl growing up, losing her father, having to care for her sister and mother, but
leaves home and breaks the chains from her familys past.
It is literal in the way that Im showing its me. Its figurative, because I used a lot
of imagery, metaphors and symbols to represent certain emotions, ideas and snapshots
of my life. The right side is italicized, because its my inner thoughts, songs and bible
verses.
The violin is one thing that even though it wasnt stated in my poem, represents
the theme in my poem. I performed the song in my background with my violin at my
church. For me, the song creates a nostalgic mood. I believe the song makes thepoems emotion and theme more present. I want my audience to feel accomplished by
the end, like the girl in my poem. The violin in the background is the finishing touch; the
bow on the present.
