1. Procedure: New Sketcher Workflow

Scenario

Change the sketch orientation from within Sketcher.

Task 1. Enter Sketcher, then edit the sketch setup and select a reference.

1. Start the Sketch Tool .

Select datum plane right from the model tree.

Notice the selected sketch and reference planes.

2. Click Sketch.

Notice the default sketch orientation.

3. Click Sketch Setup from the Sketcher toolbar.

Right-click and select Placement.

Press CTRL + D to view the standard orientation.

Change the sketching plane by selecting datum plane FRONT from the model tree.

Click Sketch. The orientation is still horizontal.

Sketch Setup was added to the Sketcher toolbar for training purposes. You can also access the Sketch Setup dialog box by clicking Sketch > Sketch

Setupfrom the main menu.

4. Click Sketch Setup from the Sketcher toolbar.

Right-click and select View Orientation.

In the Sketch dialog box, select Topas the Orientation.

Notice that the sketch view reorients vertically.

Click Sketch.

This completes the procedure.

Enable the option to undo/redo with view manipulations.

If the system can find suitable dimensioning references, the References dialog box is not displayed. This behavior can be con trolled using the

sketcher_auto_create_refs option in the config.pro file.

4. Click Palette from the Sketcher toolbar.

Select the Customtab.

Select the 12pointsketch to preview it.

Task 2. Place the 12-point sketch from the palette.

1. Double-click the 12-pointsketch thumbnail.

Select a location over the model.

Type 7as the Scale value.

Drag the sketch to snap to the intersection of the Sketcher references. Refer to the figure.

Click Accept Changes .

Use the Replace option within the References dialog box in Sketcher.

1. Click Settings > Tree Filters.

Select the Suppressed Objectsoption if necessary.

Click OK.

2. Press CTRL and select OVAL_SKETCH and OVAL_CUT from the model tree.

Right-click and select Resume.

Notice that the sketched curve feature has missing references.

Click Quick Fix > Redefine > Confirm.

4. Select the first MISSING REFERENCE and click Replace.

Select datum plane RIGHT from the model.

Select datum plane RIGHT from the model. Since the reference is now the same, it is removed from the list.

Notice that the Reference status is currently "Unsolved sketch".
