1 Current COVID-19 situation in Norway
Cases are still low compared to other countries but the number of covid patients is increasing in Norway
The Norwegian government has a 4-phase plan for reopening of the Norwegian Society (this plan is not based on a specific date but on the development of the COVID-19 situation)
According to the press conference on 28 July Norway remains to be in the 3rd
phase for now
2 Study permit and the last entry
date
Borders are open for international students since 1 August
UDI is now processing study permits for non-EU citizens
EU students can enter the country by showing that they are students at UiS
The last entry date is 1 September
However it is possible to change this date to 15 September by contacting UDI
If you received a study permit and if you decided to take the autumn semester online you should contact UDI immediately to ask for change of the dates on your entry visa
3 Entry rules and quarantine
Currently anyone arriving in Norway from abroad shall be in quarantine at a specified quarantine hotel
Exemption bull Some countries in Europe with sufficiently low
transmission (green areas and countries) bull Fully-vaccinated persons with a COVID-19
certificate with a QR code issued in Scandinavian and EU countries
Check the information regarding entry rules and quarantine on the following website before you arrive in Norway

Please note that the place of quarantine must be at the first entry point in Norway as a rule
3 Entry rules and quarantine
Remember to complete the registration form and take a PCR- or antigen-based test less than 24 hours prior to departure

The rules may change at short notice It is the travelerrsquos responsibility to ensure they are up-to-dated regarding the rules that apply at the time of entry
4 Hotel quarantine
You will have full-board accommodation at the hotel during the quarantine period The individual share of quarantine is NOK 500 per day
UiS has an arrangement with some of the hotels close to the airport in Stavanger so for those that are staying there the cost will be paid directly by UiS
Students that are guided to other hotels need to pay the cost by themselves first The refund can be made only to your bank account in Norway Detailed information about the refund will be sent to you later
Remember that you are responsible for the expenses such as phone calls pay-tv mini bar etc
It is not possible to choose your quarantine hotel
Remember to receive a confirmation of quarantine from your hotel With this document you can move into your SIS housing or private accommodation
5 Information from SiS Housing ndash How to pick up your key
Until 1300 on 18 August you can pick up your key at the reception at Scandic Stavanger Airport Hotel at any time
After 1300 on 18 August all keys will be delivered back to SiS Housing so you need to pick up your key at SiS Housing Ullandhaug campus during their opening hours Opening hours httpsminsisnobolig
No one else can pick up the key for you
If you are allocated to other hotels ask them to provide you a certificate of quarantine and present it to the reception at Scandic Stavanger Airport Hotel to receive your key
After 18 August you need to present a certificate of quarantine at SiS Housing to receive your key
If you are not required to be in quarantine you must present your covid-19 certificate with a QR code in order to pick up your key Please note that currently only covid-19 certificate issued in Scandinavian and EU countries are considered as a variable way of proving your vaccination
6 Information about TempStay- from Arnljot Corneliussen
UiS is now preparing a temporary place to stay (from 3 August 2021) for those who are still on the waiting list
This is a temporary solution while you search for a room in the private market or until you get an offer from SiS housing (if any rooms become available)

Mark your email with ldquoTempStayrdquo and include your name gender and arrival date
7 Semester Start 2021
All compulsory courses will be offered online for those who are not in Stavanger
Some teaching will be given on campus for students in Stavanger
You will receive further information about the semester plan from your study coordinator later

The semester fee is 735 NOK
Find the Swift-code and the IBAN number on the payment page in StudentWeb
Normally it should not be necessary to provide the name and address of the bank you are sending money to if you have the Swift code But if you need it please use the following information

11 Access to Canvas and Timetables
The day after you have registered your IT-account you will get access to Canvas
You can find an overview of your required literature list in Canvas or you can search for it in Leganto

You can get a student card after having registered for the autumn semester and paid the semester fee
Student cards are issued at the Student Reception in Arne Rettedalrsquos building

Due to the ongoing pandemic and quarantine rules Police is more flexible with these deadlines Be aware that you are not allowed to enter the police station before you have finished the quarantine duty

Citizens from EUEEA countries are required to register their stay at Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA) within 3 months after their arrival in Norway
You need to make an appointment on beforehand in the UDI Application Portal

16 How to open your bank account in Norway
After the policeSUA registration you will receive a Norwegian ID number via post This can take up to 3-4 weeks after registration
Remember to register your correct postal address and put your name on mailbox
To open bank account bring to the bank bull your passport bull a letter from Skatteetaten which
documents your Norwegian ID number and your residence card (if you are from non-EUEEA countries)
17 Verification of your original documents
You need to bring your original bachelorrsquos diploma and transcripts with you to Stavanger
You will receive an e-mail about this in September 2021
Please DO NOT show up without being requested
If you fail to present your original documentations your study rights may be denied

Mandatory for every person from a high endemic country of tuberculosis and every person who has stayed in those countries for more than 3 months See the list of countries with high and very high occurrence
You should take the test within four weeks after arrival to Norway
The tuberculosis test is free of charge

Stavanger vaccinates with Pfizer and Moderna
Students from abroad who have been given a non-EU-approved vaccine as 1st dose can be given 2nd dose by Pfizer or Moderna

2 Study permit and the last entry
date
Borders are open for international students since 1 August
UDI is now processing study permits for non-EU citizens
EU students can enter the country by showing that they are students at UiS
The last entry date is 1 September
However it is possible to change this date to 15 September by contacting UDI
If you received a study permit and if you decided to take the autumn semester online you should contact UDI immediately to ask for change of the dates on your entry visa

3 Entry rules and quarantine
Remember to complete the registration form and take a PCR- or antigen-based test less than 24 hours prior to departure

4 Hotel quarantine
You will have full-board accommodation at the hotel during the quarantine period The individual share of quarantine is NOK 500 per day
UiS has an arrangement with some of the hotels close to the airport in Stavanger so for those that are staying there the cost will be paid directly by UiS
Students that are guided to other hotels need to pay the cost by themselves first The refund can be made only to your bank account in Norway Detailed information about the refund will be sent to you later
Remember that you are responsible for the expenses such as phone calls pay-tv mini bar etc
It is not possible to choose your quarantine hotel
Remember to receive a confirmation of quarantine from your hotel With this document you can move into your SIS housing or private accommodation

Until 1300 on 18 August you can pick up your key at the reception at Scandic Stavanger Airport Hotel at any time

No one else can pick up the key for you
If you are allocated to other hotels ask them to provide you a certificate of quarantine and present it to the reception at Scandic Stavanger Airport Hotel to receive your key

After the policeSUA registration you will receive a Norwegian ID number via post This can take up to 3-4 weeks after registration
Remember to register your correct postal address and put your name on mailbox
To open bank account bring to the bank bull your passport bull a letter from Skatteetaten which
documents your Norwegian ID number and your residence card (if you are from non-EUEEA countries)
