3) Promote democracy. People can promote democratization by stressing the importance of foreign aid and development assistance to legislators. Democracy may not fill stomachs, but it does help to manage the resources needed to do so.

4) Access to Education. Education is the best weapon against poverty and hunger. It is especially powerful in underdeveloped countries. Education means better opportunity and more access to income and food. Additionally, some countries have food-for-education programs where students are given free food for coming to school.

Who We AreAbout Us

We are just a group of ordinary students that are simply fed up of the widespread famines and the monstrous lives a lot of people face all around the world. Initially, we created this project “Save Food, Save Lives” to increase the awareness of communities and societies that don’t have a full understanding of how intense the rates of hunger are increasing. To conclude, we just have high hopes that humanity still exists and that every famine must have an end.

Facts about famine…

1) Hunger is number one on the list of the world’s top 10 health risks. It kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined.

7. hungry people live in developing countries, where 12.9 percent of the population is undernourished.

“Feel what it’s like to starve, and I guarantee that you’ll forever think twice before wasting food.”

-Criss Jami, Killosophy

What causes famine…

1) Conflict: when a government is engaged in war, the leadership of a country must divert funds to military expenditure, therefore funding is removed from development, leaving the population vulnerable to famine.

2) Food wastage: one third of all food produced is never consumed. This food wastage represents a missed opportunity to improve global food security in a world where one in 8 is hungry.

3) Climate Change: climate change affects food production, which can create food insecurity and famine. For instance, rising temperatures reduces crop yields by reducing photosynthesis and soil fertility.

What you can do…

1) Send funds instead of food. By sending funds, donor countries can avoid procedural delays and ensure that starving people can afford the food they need to survive.

2) Spread awareness. Ordinary people can help to end famine simply by spreading awareness and contacting their friends, families, and legislators. Such awareness can put pressure on legislators to implement programs that combat famine.
