Wednesday April 11, 2018 4 DISTRICTS Police slaps PSA on hardcore criminal STATE TIMES NEWS R S PURA: Police on Tuesday detained a hardcore criminal after authorities slapped the Public Safety Act (PSA) against him and sent him to jail in the city. The district magistrate has slapped the PSA against crimi- nal Sheeter namely Paramjeet Kumar alias Jungi son of Devi Dass resident of Dravptey, Tehsil R S.Pura, Distt. Jammu and was detained by the police and later sent to the Kot Bhalwal jail, a police official said. The accused was involved in six different cases, including attempt to murder and illegal possession of weapons in vari- ous police stations in the R S Pura belt since 2011, he said. The cases include FIR No. 78/2011 under section 307/326/148/149 RPC, 4/25 A. Act, at Police Station Miran Sahib; FIR No. 147/2014 under section 307/323/147/149/120-B/RPC, 4/25 A. Act at Police Station R.S Pura; FIR No. 43/2015 under section S 307/147/148/149 RPC, Police Station R.S Pura; FIR No. 38/2016 under section 364/342/147/148/149 RPC, 4/25 A. Act, Police Station R.S Pura; FIR No. 154/2017 under sec- tion 307/ RPC, 3/25,4/25 A. Act, Police Station Miran Sahib and FIR No. 10/2018 under section 3/25 A. Act, Police Station R.S.Pura A dossier was prepared by the police and submitted to the district magistrate, the official said. The PSA warrant was executed after making hectic/ sincere efforts and the criminal has been lodged at Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. The PSA warrant was executed by a police party headed by SI Ved Parkash under the close supervision of Inspr. Bishnesh Kumar, SHO Police Station R.S Pura, Sourabh Prashar, SDPO R.S Pura, R.C Kotwal, SP Hqrs, Jammu and overall supervision of Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu. MVD, Traffic Police Challan 20 vehicles STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) as well as Traffic police held separate traffic Nakas and realised a fine of Rs 17,700 from the defaulters. The ARTO Poonch Abdul Raheem established a Naka near DC office and Bus Stand and realised a fine of Rs 12,400 for violating the MVD Act. Meanwhile The Traffic police also laid number of traffic Nakas and realised a fine of Rs 5,300 from the violators of traffic norms. The Traffic Police also challaned over 20 vehi- cles. The ARTO while addressing the press asked trans- porters to strictly follow the MVD Act and observe traffic norms failing which action will be taken against the default- ers according to law. One killed, another injured in mishap STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: One person was killed while another got injured in road mishap at border road area of Rajpura in district Samba on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as 65 years Banarsi Dass son of Hem Raj resident of village Rajpura and injured as Surjit Singh son of Karnail Singh resident of Mawa Samba. According to a report , A van without registration number hit two pedestrians at Rajpura Chowk, resulting in both get- ting critical injures. They were shifted to District Hospital Samba for treatment, where doctors declared Banarsi Lal as brought dead while the injured was referred to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu for treatment. " The driver has been arrested and vehicle seized" said Police Post Officer Rajpura Surinder Nagra. 750 Kgs of Lahan destroyed STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Excise Department on Tuesday destroyed 750kgs of Lahan during different raids carried out against illicit liquor in Excise Range Kathua. On the directions of the Excise Commissioner and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Ashish Gupta, the Excise Team Kathua led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Vikas Anand, Inspector Excise Sanjeev Khajuria, Arun Kumar, SI Amit Sharma along with Excise Guards Rajinder Singh, Akeel Ahmed, Samsher Dev and Mohd. Sharif raided the Jakhbar Dambra, Chatyal, Chatrayala and Birso Chak areas of Kathua District to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor. In the process more than 750 Kgs of Lahan, raw material of illicit liquor was recovered by the raiding team from State land and later destroyed on spot. Lightning kills 53 livestock STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Sudden lightening killed 53 livestock (sheep and horse) in Sankri (Ladha) hamlet in Tehsil Panchari. According reports, due to terrible thundering and lightning 22 sheep and a horse belonging to Mumtaz Ahmad son of Mohd. Latif resident of village Sanusar were killed at village Sankri hamlet in Tehsil Panchari last night. Sources revealed besides that 30 sheep and goats got critical injuries. Mumtaz reported the matter to Panchari Police which registered a case in this regard. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Minister for Revenue, Haj & Auqaf and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri on Tuesday inaugurated vari- ous projects executed by Auqaf Department in Rajouri on Tuesday. MLA Rajouri, Ch. Qamar Hussain, ADDC Rajouri A.S Chib, Regional Director, Survey and Land Records Showkat Qazmi, Additional SP Mohammad Yusuf, ACR Rajouri, Qayoom Mir, Special Officer Auqaf, Raj Mohammad, Administrator Auqaf Rajouri, Abdul Qayoom Dar and other con- cerned officers were also present on the occasion. On the second day of his visit to Rajouri District, the minister inaugurated shop- ping complex at Old City con- structed at the cost of Rs 68 lakh. He inspected the shops, other units at the complex and directed the concerned for initiating the auction process so that the assets can be utilised properly. Veeri also visited Jama Masjid in Rajouri city to inaugurate newly constructed Islamic Research Centre and Toilet Complex built at the cost of Rs 60 lakh. The minister then inaugurated the office of the Administrator Auqaf and residence of Imam Sahib of Jama Masjid. This build- ing has been completed at the cost of Rs 30 lakh. The minister congratulated the people of Rajouri and Auqaf Department for these newly created properties and asked for their proper and timely maintenance. Later, the minister partici- pated in a function organ- ised by Auqaf Department which was attended by intel- lectuals, Ullemas and large number of local people. The minister also released 2 books authored by Prof. Dr Mohammad Bashir Magray namely 'Shahen-e- Shah-e-Jabbal' based on life, times and contribution of Baaba Ghulam Shah Badshah (R.A) and 'Systematic Geography of J&K State'. Veeri congratulated Prof. Magray for authoring these books and said that through his book, people will come to know about life and contri- bution of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah. He further said that his book on geogra- phy will surely help the scholars/students studying states geography. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Accusing Congress of having exploited weaker sections of society for vote bank politics, BJP Vice President Yudhvir Sethi along with Dinesh Sharma BJP District President Rajouri on Tuesday said Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan (Village Self-gover- nance Campaign) starting from April 14 to May 5, 2018 is aimed at sustainable and inclusive growth of rural India through a multi pronged strat- egy for eradication of poverty. This programme being launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be accom- plished by increasing livelihood opportunities, providing social safety net and developing infrastructure for growth and improvement of quality of life in rural India, he said. Yudhvir Sethi asserted that this more than fortnight long programme aims at a nation- wide campaign to increase social harmony amongst vil- lagers, foster farmer's pro- grammes and promoting rural development for which BJP workers must gear themselves up. Yudhvir Sethi was speaking in a meeting of party Karyakartas held at Rajouri this morning. He said that it was during Congress regime that from 2013 to 2015 National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) witnessed 17.3 per cent increase in crimes against weaker sections of the society. Almost 74 cases of such atrocities were reported from all over the country each day and out of that five cases used to be that of rape. Instead of giving people a dignified and safe life, Congress leaders concentrated on vote bank politics by extend- ing subsidies and exploiting sentiments of people belonging to weaker sections of society. The minister, while high- lighting the development activities on the occasion, said that development works of more than rupees one crore are under process in the area. He said that three transformers in the area have been upgraded to 100 KV as per the demands of the locals. He further said that Rs.26 crore have been sanctioned for the road from Vijaypur to Esmpur and Rs. 8 crore for the road from Swankha Morh to Baba Chamblyal. Responding to demands of the people, Ganga assured them that all their issues would be taken up with the concerned authorities for an early redressal. Research Centre and ToiletComplex built at the cost ofRs 60 lakh. The ministerthen inaugurated the officeof the Administrator Auqafand residence of Imam Sahibof Jama Masjid. This build-ing has been completed at thecost of Rs 30 lakh.

The minister congratulatedthe people of Rajouri andAuqaf Department for thesenewly created properties andasked for their proper andtimely maintenance.

Later, the minister partici-pated in a function organ-ised by Auqaf Departmentwhich was attended by intel-lectuals, Ullemas and largenumber of local people.

The minister also released2 books authored by Prof.Dr Mohammad BashirMagray namely 'Shahen-e-Shah-e-Jabbal' based on life,times and contribution ofBaaba Ghulam ShahBadshah (R.A) and'Systematic Geography ofJ&K State'.

Veeri congratulated Prof.Magray for authoring thesebooks and said that throughhis book, people will come toknow about life and contri-bution of Baba GhulamShah Badshah. He furthersaid that his book on geogra-phy will surely help thescholars/students studyingstates geography.

Responding to demands ofthe people, Ganga assuredthem that all their issueswould be taken up with theconcerned authorities foran early redressal.
