General Safety Instructions

• This appliance is for indoor use only.

• Do not use the unit on a socket under repairs or not installed properly.

• Do not use the unit:

o Near a source of fire.

o In an area where oil is likely to splash.

o In an area exposed to direct sunlight.

o In an area where water is likely to splash.

o Near a bath, a laundry, a shower or a swimming pool.

• Never insert your fingers or other objects into the ventilation openings. Ensure children are explicitly warned to not do this.

• Ensure that the appliance is positioned upright (vertically) during both transport and storage so that the compressor is correctly positioned.

• Always turn off the appliance before cleaning and unplug it from the wall outlet.

• Switch off the appliance before moving it and unplug it from the wall outlet. Move the appliance slowly and carefully.

• To avoid the risk of fire, do not cover the appliance.

• Do not overload the power outlet by operating the appliance simultaneously with too many powerful electrical appliances.

• All fan connections must comply with local electrical safety regulations. If necessary, refer to these regulations.

• If the power cord or plug is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, an authorised specialist company or a similarly qualified person.

Impedance Declaration

This appliance can be connected only to a power supply with system impedance no more than 0.381Ω. If necessary, please consult your local utility authority for system impedance information.

REPAIR SAFETY NOTES (Professional use only)

Cabling:

Regularly check that cabling is not showing signs of wear, corrosion, excessive pressure, vibration, sharp edges, any other adverse environmental effects. The check shall also consider the effects of aging or continual vibration from sources such as compressors or fans.

Detection of Flammable Refrigerants:

Under no circumstances shall potentially sources of ignition be used in the searching for or detection of refrigerant leaks. A halide torch (or any other detector using a naked flame) shall not be used.

Leak Detection Methods:

The following leak detection methods are deemed acceptable for systems containing flammable refrigerants. Electronic leak detectors shall be used to detect flammable refrigerants, but the sensitivity may not be adequate, may need recalibration. (Detection equipment shall be calibrated in a refrigerant-free area.) Ensure that the detector is not a potential source of ignition and is suitable for the refrigerant used.

Leak detection equipment shall be set at a percentage of the LFL of the refrigerant and shall be calibrated to the refrigerant employed and the appropriate percentage of gas (25 % maximum) is confirmed. Leak detection fluids are suitable for use with most refrigerants but the use of detergents containing chlorine shall be avoided as the chlorine may react with the refrigerant and corrode the copper pipework.

If a leak is suspected, all naked flames shall be removed/extinguished. If a leakage of refrigerant is found which requires brazing, all the refrigerant shall be recovered from the system, isolated (by means of shut off valves) in a part of the system remote from the leak. Oxygen free nitrogen (OFN) shall then be purged through the system both before and during the brazing process.

Removal and Evacuation:

When breaking into the refrigerant circuit to make repairs – or for any other purpose – conventional procedures shall be used. However, it is important that best practice is followed since flammability is a consideration. The following procedure shall be adhered to remove refrigerant; purge the circuit with inert gas; evacuate; purge again with inert gas; open the circuit by cutting or brazing.

The refrigerant charge shall be recovered into the correct recovery cylinders. The system shall be “flushed” with OFN to render the unit safe. This process may need to be repeated several times. Compressed air or oxygen shall not be used for this task. Flushing shall be achieved by breaking the vacuum in the system with OFN and continuing to fill until the working pressure is achieved, then venting to atmosphere, finally pulling down to a vacuum. This process shall be repeated until no refrigerant is within the system.

When the final OFN charge is used, the system shall be vented down to atmospheric pressure to enable work to take place. This operation is vital if brazing operations on the pipework are to take place. Ensure that the outlet for the vacuum pump is not close to any ignition sources and there is ventilation available.

Charging Procedures:

In addition to conventional charging procedures, the following requirements shall be followed:

1. Ensure that contamination of different refrigerants does not occur when using charging equipment. Hoses or lines shall be as short as possible to minimize the amount of refrigerant contained in them.

2. Cylinders shall be kept upright.

3. Ensure that the refrigeration system is earthed prior to charging the system with refrigerant.

4. Label the system when charging is complete (if not already).

5. Extreme care shall be taken not to overfill the refrigeration system.

Prior to recharging the system, it shall be pressure tested with OFN. The system shall be leak tested on completion of charging but prior to commissioning. A follow up leak test shall be carried out prior to leaving the site.

Decommissioning:

Before carrying out this procedure, it is essential that the technician is completely familiar with the equipment and all its detail. It is recommended good practice that all refrigerants are recovered safely. Prior to the task being carried out, an oil and refrigerant sample shall be taken in case analysis is required prior to re-use of reclaimed refrigerant. It is essential that electrical power is available before the task is commenced.

• Become familiar with the equipment and its operation.

• Isolate system electrically.

• Before attempting the procedure ensure that: mechanical handling equipment is available, if required, for handling refrigerant cylinders; all personal protective equipment is available and being used correctly; the recovery process is always supervised by a competent person; recovery equipment and cylinders conform to the appropriate standards.

• Pump down refrigerant system, if possible.

• If a vacuum is not possible, make a manifold so that refrigerant can be removed from various parts of the system.

• Make sure that cylinder is situated on the scales before recovery takes place.

• Start the recovery machine and operate in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

• Do not overfill cylinders. (No more than 80 % volume liquid charge).

• Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of the cylinder, even temporarily.

• When the cylinders have been filled correctly and the process completed, make sure that the cylinders and the equipment are removed from site promptly and all isolation valves on the equipment are closed off.

• Recovered refrigerant shall not be charged into another refrigeration system unless it has been cleaned and checked.

Labelling:

Equipment shall be labelled stating that it has been de-commissioned and emptied of refrigerant. The label shall be dated and signed. Ensure that there are labels on the equipment stating the equipment contains flammable refrigerant.

Recovery:

When removing refrigerant from a system, either for servicing or decommissioning, it is recommended good practice that all refrigerants are removed safely. When transferring refrigerant into cylinders, ensure that only appropriate refrigerant recovery cylinders are employed. Ensure that the correct number of cylinders for holding the total system charge are available. All cylinders to be used are designated for the recovered refrigerant and labelled for that refrigerant (i.e., special cylinders for the recovery of refrigerant). Cylinders shall be complete with pressure relief valve and associated shut-off valves in good working order. Empty recovery cylinders are evacuated and, if possible, cooled before recovery occurs.

The recovery equipment shall be in good working order with a set of instructions concerning the equipment that is at hand and shall be suitable for the recovery of flammable refrigerants. In addition, a set of calibrated weighing scales shall be available and in good working order. Hoses shall be complete with leak-free disconnect couplings and in good condition. Before using the recovery machine, check that it is in satisfactory working order, has been properly maintained and that any associated electrical components are sealed to prevent ignition in the event of a refrigerant release. Consult manufacturer if in doubt.

The recovered refrigerant shall be returned to the refrigerant supplier in the correct recovery cylinder, the relevant Waste Transfer Note arranged. Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units and especially not in cylinders.

If compressors or compressor oils are to be removed, ensure that they have been evacuated to an acceptable level to make certain that flammable refrigerant does not remain within the lubricant. The evacuation process shall be carried out prior to returning the compressor to the suppliers. Only electric heating to the compressor body shall be employed to accelerate this process. When oil is drained from a system, it shall be carried out safely.

COMPETENCE OF SERVICE PERSONNEL

General:

Special training additional to usual refrigerating equipment repair procedures is required when equipment with flammable refrigerants is affected. In many countries, this training is carried out by national training organizations that are accredited to teach the relevant national competency standards that may be set in legislation. The achieved competence should be documented by a certificate.

Training:

Training should include the following:

• Information about the explosion potential of flammable refrigerants to show that flammables may be dangerous when handled without care.

• Information about potential ignition sources, especially those that are not obvious, such as lighters, light switches, vacuum cleaners, electric heaters.

Information about the different safety concepts:

Unventilated – Safety of the appliance does not depend on ventilation of the housing. Switching off the appliance or opening of the housing has no significant effect on the safety. Nevertheless, it is possible that leaking refrigerant may accumulate inside the enclosure and flammable atmosphere will be released when the enclosure is opened.

Ventilated enclosure – Safety of the appliance depends on ventilation of the housing. Switching off the appliance or opening of the enclosure has a significant effect on the safety. Care should be taken to ensure a sufficient ventilation before.

Ventilated room – Safety of the appliance depends on the ventilation of the room. Switching off the appliance or opening of the housing has no significant effect on the safety. The ventilation of the room shall not be switched off during repair procedures. Information about the concept of sealed components and sealed enclosures according to IEC 60079-15:2010.

Information about the correct working procedures:

a) Commissioning

• Ensure that the floor area is sufficient for the refrigerant charge or that the ventilation duct is assembled in a correct manner.

• Connect the pipes and carry out a leak test before charging with refrigerant.

• Check safety equipment before putting into service.

b) Maintenance

• Portable equipment shall be repaired outside or in a workshop specially equipped for servicing units with flammable refrigerants.

• Ensure sufficient ventilation at the repair place.

• Be aware that malfunction of the equipment may be caused by refrigerant loss and refrigerant leak is possible.

• Discharge capacitors in a way that won’t cause any spark. The standard procedure to short circuit the capacitor terminals usually create sparks.

• Reassemble sealed enclosures accurately. If seals are worn, replace them.

• Check safety equipment before putting into service.

c) Repair

• Portable equipment shall be repaired outside or in a workshop specially equipped for servicing units with flammable refrigerants.

• Ensure sufficient ventilation at the repair place.

• Be aware that malfunction of the equipment may be caused by refrigerant loss and a refrigerant leak is possible.

• Discharge capacitors in a way that won’t cause any spark.

• When brazing is required, the following procedures shall be carried out in the right order

o Remove the refrigerant. If the recovery is not required by national regulations, drain the refrigerant to the outside. Take care that the drained refrigerant will not cause any danger. In doubt, one person should guard the outlet. Take special care that drained refrigerant will not float back into the building.

o Evacuate the refrigerant circuit.

o Purge the refrigerant circuit with nitrogen for 5 min.

o Evacuate again.

o Remove parts to be replaced by cutting, not by flame.

o Purge the braze point with nitrogen during the brazing procedure.

o Carry out a leak test before charging with refrigerant.

• Reassemble sealed enclosures accurately. If seals are worn, replace them.

• Check safety equipment before putting into service.

d) Decommissioning

• If the safety is affected when the equipment is out of service, the refrigerant charge shall be removed before decommissioning.

• Ensure sufficient ventilation at the equipment location.

• Be aware that malfunction of the equipment may be caused by refrigerant loss and a refrigerant leak is possible.

• Discharge capacitors in a way that won’t cause any spark.

• Remove the refrigerant. If the recovery is not required by national regulations, drain the refrigerant to the outside. Take care that the drained refrigerant will not cause any danger. In doubt, one person should guard the outlet. Take special care that drained refrigerant will not float back into the building.

• Evacuate the refrigerant circuit.

• Purge the refrigerant circuit with nitrogen for 5 min.

• Evacuate again.

• Fill with nitrogen up to atmospheric pressure.

• Put a label on the equipment that the refrigerant is removed.

e) Disposal

• Ensure sufficient ventilation at the working place.

• Remove the refrigerant. If the recovery is not required by national regulations, drain the refrigerant to the outside. Take care that the drained refrigerant will not cause any danger. In doubt, one person should guard the outlet. Take special care that drained refrigerant will not float back into the building.

• Cut out the compressor and drain the oil.

Transportation, marking and storage for units that employ flammable refrigerants

1. Transport of equipment containing flammable refrigerants:

Attention is drawn to the fact that additional transportation regulations may exist with respect to equipment containing flammable gas. The maximum number of pieces of equipment or the configuration of the equipment, permitted to be transported together will be determined by the applicable transport regulations.

2. Marking of equipment using signs:

Signs for similar appliances used in a work area generally are addressed by local regulations and give the minimum requirements for the provision of safety and/or health signs for a work location.

All required signs are to be maintained and employers should ensure that employees receive suitable and sufficient instruction and training on the meaning of appropriate safety signs and the actions that need to be taken in connection with these signs.

The effectiveness of signs should not be diminished by too many signs being placed together. Any pictograms used should be as simple as possible and contain only essential details.

3. Disposal of equipment using flammable refrigerants:

See national regulations.

4. Storage of equipment/appliances:

The storage of equipment should be in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Storage of packed (unsold) equipment.

Storage package protection should be constructed such that mechanical damage to the equipment inside the package will not cause a leak of the refrigerant charge.

The maximum number of pieces of equipment permitted to be stored together will be determined by local regulations.

Temporary installation

1. Attach the housing adaptor and the window connector to the ends of the exhaust hose.

2. Insert the housing adaptor into the outlet on the rear of the air conditioner, taking care to align the clips.

3. Place the other end of the exhaust hose on the windowsill.

Window Fitting Kit The installation of the window fitting kit is typically in a “horizontal” or “vertical” position. Refer to the min. and max. size of the window before the installation.

1. Install the window kit on the window.

2. Adjust the length of the window slider kit according to the window width or height then secure it in place using the dowel.

3. Attach the exhaust hose to the window kit.

1. Cut large strips of adhesive tape to the dimensions of the window. Adhere them to the frame of your window and then do the same on the inner surface of the window flap (on the handle side).

2. Open the window and clean the doors and frame before gluing the adhesive tape.

3. Attach the widest side (A) of the large white fabric piece to the window frame and then glue the narrower side (B) to the window leaf (handle side) from the centre, then up and finally down.

4. Close the window and ensure the large fabric piece is not stuck in the closing seams and the window closes correctly, even with the adhesive tape.

5. Open the window gently and open the zipper on the fabric piece (at the bottom or middle of the window) then insert the exhaust duct into the opening. Readjust the zipper so that the exhaust duct is attached so that there is no air exchange between the inside and the outside.

6. Your window sealing kit is now installed, you can now operate the air conditioner.

If you no longer want to use your mobile air conditioner and close your window, you can simply remove the sheath from the zipper and close your window, ensure that the fabric piece is not stuck in the window seals.

Note: If you have a window with French opening with two leaves: Block the first leaf with the handle and apply the window sealing kit on the second leaf (without the handle). Before installation, check that the adhesive gripping tape will not damage your window.

Before First Use

1. Find a place with a power outlet nearby.

2. Install the exhaust hose and adjust the window position correctly.

3. Connect the drain hose well (for heating models only)

4. Insert the power cord into a grounded AC220~240V/50Hz outlet.

5. Press the POWER button to turn on the air-conditioner.

Cooling and dehumidifying operation:

• When using cooling and dehumidifying modes, keep an interval of at least 3 minutes between turning the unit ON or OFF.

• Ensure power supply meets the requirements (AC220--240V, 50Hz.).

• Do not share one socket with other appliances.

Cooling • Press the “MODE” button till the “Cool” indicator illuminates.

• Press the “TEMP+” or “TEMP-” button to select a desired room temperature. (16°C -31°C)

• Press the “SPEED” button to select fan speed.

Dehumidifying

• Press the “MODE” button till the “Dehumidify” indicator illuminates.

• Temperature will automatically be set to current room temperature minus 2°C. (16°C -31°C)

• Fan speed will automatically be set to LOW speed.

Fan Operation

• Press the “MODE” button till the “Fan” indicator illuminates.

• Press the “SPEED” button to select fan speed.

Timer Operation

Timer ON:

• When the air-conditioner is in standby, press the “TIMER” button and select a desired-ON time through the temperature and time setting buttons.

• “Preset ON Time” is displayed on the operation panel.

• ON time can be set at any time in 0-24 hours.

Timer OFF:

• When the air-conditioner ON, press “TIMER” button and select a desired OFF time through the temperature and time setting buttons.

• “Preset OFF Time” is displayed on the operation panel.

• OFF time can be set at any time in 0-24 hours.

Sleep Mode

• While in cooling mode, press the SLEEP button to set the temperature. It increases 1°C after an hour and at most increases 2°C after 2 hours.

• While in heating mode, press the SLEEP key to set the temperature. It decreases 1°C after an hour and at most decreases 2°C after 2 hours.

• Press the SLEEP key again can cancel the setting.

Water Drainage

Water Full Alarm:

The inner water tray in the air-conditioner features a water level safety switche, it controls the water level. When water level reaches an anticipated height, the water full indicator lights up. When the water is full, attach the supplied drainage hose to the water outlet please remove the rubber blockage from the drainage outlet at the bottom of unit and drain all water outside.

Continuous Drainage:

• When you plan to leave this unit unused for a long time, please remove the rubber plug from the drainage hole at the bottom of unit and drain all water outside.

• When the unit is in HEAT mode (only for Reverse Cycle units) you can use the continuous drainage method by attaching the supplied drainage hose to the drainage outlet and direct the to a drain hole.

• The continuous drainage method is not required when the unit is in the COOL or DEHUMIDIFY modes. The unit can evaporate the condensed water automatically by the splash motor. Make sure the drainage holes are sealed well.

• If splash motor is damaged, intermittent drainage can also be used. Under this condition, when the water full indicator lights up, please connect a drainage hose to the bottom drainage hole, then all the water in the water tank will be drained outside

Wi-Fi Connectivity (refer to separate Wi-Fi Guide for full connection steps) • Press and hold the ‘SPEED’ button for 5 seconds the unit will enter the Wi-Fi factory set

up mode.

• When the Wi-Fi indicator is flashing slowly, the unit is pairing mode.

• When the Wi-Fi indicator is flashing quickly, the unit is connected to Wi-Fi.

Cleaning the Air-conditioner Surface

• Do not use gasoline or other harsh chemicals to clean the unit.

• Do not immerse the unit in water or any other liquids.

• First clean the surface using a neutral detergent and wet cloth, then wipe it with a dry cloth.

• If the conditioner shows any sign of damaged, cease use immediately and contact help.Kogan.com for support.

Air Filter

The air filter should be cleaned once every two weeks.

1. Open the air inlet grille and take off air filter.

2. Clean the air filter with neural detergent in lukewarm water and dry it thoroughly in the shade.

3. Place the air filter into the inlet grille, replace all components as they were.
