Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I hope and pray that you have enjoyed our time in 1 John. It is an incredible book that pushes us to the live the Christian
life to the glory of God, specifically in the areas of obedience to Christ and His Word, Love for One another as God’s Peo-
ple, and finally a right understanding of the gospel. While we have looked at each one multiple times from different an-
gels it should be obvious that they are so intertwined that they cannot rightly be separated. We cannot truly love one an-
other the way we are called to love except by the Holy Spirit and we do not have the Holy Spirit unless we have under-
stood rightly and believed the gospel of Jesus Christ. The same Spirit that leads us into love also leads us into obedience
and so therefore if we resist obedience and loving one another we should test ourselves to see if we truly have rightly
understood and believed the Gospel. In the end, John wants us to have confidence in our walk with the Lord and that is
his ultimate motivation in writing this letter (1 John 5:13).
I will preach on June 5th and then Kris Martin will end our series by preaching the last sermon in 1 John. After that we will
immediately jump into our next series: “Cover to Cover.” It will take us all the way to November in which we will begin
another Advent series! Time flies! The goal of the “Cover to Cover” series is to give us a bird’s eye view of the story of the
Bible. We will begin with Creation in Genesis and trace the story of the fall and redemption all the way to Revelation 21-
22 with the New Heavens and New Earth. I feel that it is crucial that we all have an idea of how the Story of the Bible
flows. If you are interested in getting ahead, Psalm 78 and Nehemiah 9 are excellent places to see the majority of the
Old Testament story. I pray that God will teach us some wonderful things during this time together in His Word.
But that’s not all! Also beginning in June, on June 3rd, we will be starting a 5-session course called: Biblical Basics. I
wrote the material for his course about 4 years ago after seeing how little people read and understood the Bible. The
goal of the course is to emphasize the WHY and How of Bible Reading. It might be overly simple for some at some points
and overly difficult for some at some points. The hope is that we will all grow in our love and knowledge of God’s Word. I
would encourage all who can to try and commit to this 5-session course. It will be every other Friday over the summer
starting on June 3rd. There will be more information regarding this in the following June Newsletter.
Finally, I would like to close this letter with a plea. If you have children, love children, care about children, and have a
heart for investing your life into them, please help and support our Vacation Bible School. It will be June 22, 23, 24. We
are hoping and praying that these children will come hungry and leave full of Jesus Christ and what it means to be a
Christian living in the world. We want them to know about Jesus Christ and His coming to rescue us from sin. We want
them to be fueled to live for the Kingdom of God. We want them to know that “We love because he first loved us.” (1
John 4:19). There is nothing more important than our church investing in the younger generation. The Bible is full of com-
mands to share the works of God with the coming generations. But what if we don’t? What if we leave them to figure it
out for themselves? The book of Judges tells us what happens when one generation passes on without passing on the
Gospel: And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done for Isra-
el. (Judges 2:10 ESV)
Oh let us labor to raise up our children in the Lord! If you have questions please see Shannon or I. There is a table in the
lobby upstairs and a sign-up sheet. Come and join us even if you just want to be a presence.
May God lead us and guide us to do his will this summer for His Glory and the good of His People.
Grace be with you all,
Pastor T

One of the great desires that we as Christians should have in the local church is a de-
sire for powerful relationships in the name of Christ for mutual spiritual benefit.
Here is how I would encourage us to pray this month for community and relation-
ships at NCCC:
1. Pray for our witness of unity even in the midst of diversity.
2. Pray that we would see Godly relationships in the church as part of what it means
to be a Christian.
3. Pray that spiritual/theological conversations would become a normal part of our
relationships in the church.
4. Pray that we would think it important to encourage one another with Scripture.
5. Pray that we would love, provide, and care for one another.
6. Pray that we would find it unusual for the church not to be the focus of our ambi-
tion and energy.
7. Pray that it would be unusual for a church member to keep the church on the pe-
riphery
8. Pray that hospitality and discipleship would become a normal part of our church
life.

We have an immediate need for a drummer, bass,

vices. We also invite singers and other instrumen-
talists to speak with us about joining this ministry.
We would love to have enough people to start a ro-

VBS 2016—JUNE 22, 23, 24TH—WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY—K-5th GRADE
5:30—8 P.M. (DINNER WILL BE AT 5:30 FOLLOWED BY THE PROGRAM FROM 6-8)
At Camp Discovery, kids learn that God has a plan and a purpose for us, right now, right where we are. God ena-bles us to serve others through vocations. But what is a vocation? Good question! Since God already meets all our earthly and eternal needs, He has called us to serve our neighbors. In the words of Luther, God doesn't need your good works, but your neighbor does! In our unique vocations, we speak God's word of love and serve as His hands
and feet to provide for our neighbors. “We love because He first loved us”. 1 John 4:19
Do you have ideas for decorations? Would you like to be involved? Please see Shannon Wright.

Christian Love Help Center/Shelter Inc.
Our Mission
When love discovers a need, it reaches out to it--but Christian love searches for a need and ministers to it.
It all began at a house on North 10th Street in New Castle, in Sept of 1987. We soon located to a larger facility at its present loca-tion, 418 South 18th Street. many faces, one faith.
Juanita Suggs and her mother Marjorie Fonzer are the driving force behind getting the Christian center open. They started with serv-ing meals to 45 people in a cold December, and have since grown to serve over 600 meals a month.
The mother daughter duo have since expanded to a shelter, food pantry, clothing room, dress a child program, Christmas program, school program.
The CLHC Hot Meals Program continues to grow, currently serving over 350 meals every Tuesday afternoon. This number covers the people who eat on site, the people who come in and pick up a meal to take home and shut ins and elderly that we deliver to. While some people who visit the hot meals program drive, many walk or ride bicycles to receive this meal.
In addition to the meal itself, the CLHC Hot Meals program provides fellowship to those who attend. The people we serve don't have the funds to "go out to lunch" with friends or "have people over" for pizza-- but they do have Tuesdays at the CLHC. They come early and save seats for their friends, they eat together and stay afterward to chat. It may sound crazy but for many of these people the CLHC Hot Meals Program IS their social life and we think that is so important.
The Christian Love Help Center does not stop with feeding the hungry on Tuesdays. People in need of groceries may visit the CLHC Food Pantry one time every 30 days. In the past, we were able to give everyone who visited the food pantry what we consid-ered to be a one week supply of groceries. Now with so many families struggling to put food on their tables, we are forced to give each family less - in order to serve more families. The CLHC food pantry serves and average of 175 families per month.
Clients may pick up food for their needy families free of charge each Tuesday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm once every 30 days. Special consideration is given according to circumstances.
The CLHC Homeless Shelter was established in 1985. Located at 418 S. 18th Street in New Castle, this is the only homeless shelter in Henry County. The shelter sleeps a maximum of 15 people and is most often at capacity.
The shelter is not a walk in shelter. People who wish to stay at the shelter must fill out an application and submit a criminal back-ground check (provided at no charge by The Henry County Sheriff's Department).
Special programs CLHC provide for are; Easter, Walk-A-Bout, Back to School, Thanksgiving and Adopt-A-Child for Christmas.
