S&P 500 Index - CommentaryThe S&P 500 index remains in a confirmed Position uptrend and remains supported by a new Long-Term uptrend. The S&P 500 rose nearly 1.2% last week as the index reached a new all-time closing high. The S&P 500 index spent the week testing its former all-time high of $2940 and found resistance at that level on Tuesday and Wednesday and again on Friday but ultimately failed to close above its all-time intraday high. A breakout above that level next week will be extremely bullish by removing all overhead resistance, paving the way for the index to reach the never-before-seen “lofty” price level of $3000. U.S. Q1 GDP figures surprised analysts to the upside, coming in at 3.2%. Yet, when economists dug into the details they were disappointed. Investors remain confused, however, as they face mixed signals.
