All reference to left, right, front, or rear are given from operator sitting in the operation position and facing the direction of forward travel.

Numbers are located on the product registration form in the literature package. They are printed on a serial number label, located on the frame of your unit (Figure 1).

SAFETY

WARNING: This machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and throwing objects. Failure to observe the safety instructions in the manuals and on decals could result in serious injury or death.

Slopes are a major factor related to loss-of-control and tip-over accidents. Operation on all slopes requires extra caution.

Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children. Never assume that children will remain where you last saw them.

Gasoline is extremely flammable and the vapors are explosive, handle with care.

Disengage attachment, stop unit and engine, remove key, engage parking brake, and allow moving parts to stop before leaving operator’s position.

DANGER: IMMINENTLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION! If not avoided, WILL RESULT in death or serious injury.

WARNING: POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION! If not avoided, COULD RESULT in death or serious injury.

• Stop engine then disengage power take-off to attachment before making adjustments or removing foreign objects.

• Keep all shields in place

• Keep all bystanders away.

• Use caution in directing discharge.

SAFETY RULESRead, understand and follow all safety practices in Owner/Operator Manual before beginning assembly. Failure to follow instructions could result in personal injury and/or damage to unit.

ALWAYS remove key (if equipped) and disconnect wire from spark plug before assembly. Unintentional engine start up can cause death or serious injury.

Complete a walk around inspection of unit and work area to understand:

• Work area• Your unit• All safety decals

ALWAYS check overhead and side clearances carefully before operation.

ALWAYS be aware of traffic when operating along streets or curbs.

Keep children and people away.

Keep children out of work area and under watchful care of a responsible adult.

Keep area of operation clear of all toys, pets, and debris. Thrown objects can cause injury.

Check for weak spots on docks, ramps or floors. Avoid uneven work areas and rough terrain.

Avoid slippery surfaces. ALWAYS be sure of your footing.

Keep a firm hold on the handlebar. Walk, NEVER run.

DO NOT operate on wet grass.

Dust, smoke, fog, etc. can reduce vision and cause an accident. Operate unit only when there is good visibility and light.

Read the entire Owner/Operator manual and other training material. If the operator or the mechanic cannot read the manual, it is the owner’s responsibility to explain it to them. Only the user can prevent and is responsible for accidents or injuries occurring to themselves, other people or property.

• Only trained adults may operate or service unit• Training includes actual operation

NEVER allow children to operate or play on or near unit.

Be alert and shut off unit if children enter area.

Never carry passengers.

NEVER operate unit after or during the use of medication, drugs or alcohol. Safe operation requires your complete and unimpaired attention at all times.

NEVER allow anyone to operate this unit when their alertness or coordination is impaired.

Wear adequate safety gear, protective gloves and footwear.

NEVER wear open sandals or canvas shoes during operation.

Protect eyes, face and head from objects that may be thrown from unit. Wear appropriate hearing protection.

Sharp edges can cut. Moving parts can cut off fingers or a hand. Wrap blade(s), wear sturdy gloves and use extreme caution when servicing. On multi-blade mowers, rotation of one blade will cause all blades to rotate.

ALWAYS keep hands and feet away from all rotating parts during operation. Rotating parts can cut off body parts.

ALWAYS keep hands away from all pinch points.

DO NOT touch unit parts which might be hot from operation. Allow parts to cool before attempting to maintain, adjust or service.

NEVER place your hands or any part of your body or clothing inside or near any moving part while unit is running.

DO NOT wear loose clothing or jewelry. Tie back hair that may get caught in rotating parts.

Keep children and people away from unit during operation.

Fumes from engine exhaust can cause injury or death.

DO NOT run engine in an enclosed area. Always provide good ventilation.

Thrown objects can cause injury and property damage. DO NOT point discharge at anyone or discharge directly onto paved or gravel surfaces.

Always stand clear of the discharge area when operating this unit.

Read, understand, and follow all instructions in the manual and on the machine before starting.

Understand:

• How to operate all controls• The functions of all controls• How to STOP in an Emergency• Braking and steering characteristics• Turning radius and clearance

ALWAYS keep protective structures, guards, and panels in good repair, in place and securely fastened.NEVER modify or remove safety devices.ALWAYS keep discharge cover or complete grass catcher in place and in proper working condition.Check steering control operation frequently. Adjust and service as required.Safety Interlock System must function properly. DO NOT operate unit if operator presence control is damaged or disabled.

If you strike an object, or if equipment vibrates abnormally, stop engine at once, disengage PTO, wait for all moving parts to stop, and remove key. Check for any damage or loose parts. Repair before restart.

Before starting engine: disengage PTO and place unit in neutral.

DO NOT operate at too fast a rate. DO NOT change engine governor settings or over-speed engine. Slow down and turn corners slowly.

Disengage PTO when attachment is not in use. ALWAYS turn off power to attachment when travelling, crossing driveways, etc.

Avoid uneven and rough terrain. DO NOT operate near drop-offs, ditches, or embankments. Unit can suddenly turn over if a wheel is over the edge of a cliff or ditch, or if an edge caves in.

DO NOT try to stabilize unit by putting foot on ground when operating with applicable riding attachments.

When engine is running and speed control lever is forward, holding only one steering lever will cause unit to circle around one drive wheel.

Use care when approaching blind corners, shrubs, trees or other objects that may obscure view.

ALWAYS disengage PTO, stop unit and engine, remove key and allow moving parts to stop before leaving operator’s position.

Never leave a running unit unattended. ALWAYS shut off engine before leaving unit.

ALWAYS remove key to prevent unauthorized use.

DO NOT operate in reverse unless absolutely necessary. ALWAYS backup slowly. ALWAYS look down and behind, before and while backing.

DO NOT operate on steep slopes. DO NOT operate on slopes of more than 5°. Operate across the face of slopes, not up and down.

Turf conditions can affect the unit’s stability.

Keep all movement on slopes slow and gradual. DO NOT make sudden changes in speed or direction. Use a slow speed to avoid stopping or shifting on slopes. Avoid starting or stopping on a slope.

DO NOT park unit on a slope unless absolutely necessary. When parking on a slope always chock or block wheels.

Use extra care when loading or unloading unit onto trailer or truck.Secure unit chassis to transport vehicle. NEVER secure from rods or linkages that could be damaged.DO NOT transport machine while engine is running.

Keep unit free of grass, leaves, or other debris. Clean up oil or fuel spills.

This product is equipped with an internal combustion engine. DO NOT use on or near any unimproved, forest covered or brush covered land unless the exhaust system is equipped with a spark arrester meeting applicable local, state or federal laws. A spark arrester, if used, must be maintained in effective working order by the operator.

Fuel is highly flammable and its vapors are explosive. Handle with care. Use an approved fuel container.

No smoking, No sparks, No flames. ALWAYS allow engine to cool before servicing.

NEVER fill fuel tank when engine is running or hot from operation.

NEVER fill or drain fuel tank indoors.

Replace fuel cap securely and clean up spilled fuel.

Never fill containers inside a vehicle or on a truck or trailer bed with a plastic liner. Always place containers on the ground away from your vehicle before filling.

When practical, remove gas-powered equipment from the truck or trailer and refuel it on the ground. If this is not possible, then refuel such equipment on a trailer with a portable container, rather than from a gasoline dispenser nozzle.

Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel tank or container opening at all times until fueling is complete. Do not use a nozzle lock-open device.

If fuel is spilled on clothing, change clothing immediately.

NEVER store fuel inside where there is an open flame, such as a water heater.

Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds, chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.

Reverse connections may cause sparks which may result in injury. ALWAYS connect/disconnect cables in proper order.

Poisonous battery fluid contains sulfuric acid and its contact with skin, eyes, or clothing can cause severe burns.Explosive Gases! No flames, No sparks, No smoking near battery.ALWAYS wear safety glasses and protective gear near battery.DO NOT TIP battery beyond a 45° angle in any direction.ALWAYS keep batteries out of reach of children.

HYDRAULIC FLUID can result in severe burns. Fluid in hydraulic system can penetrate skin and result in serious injury or death.

• Be sure to stop the engine before doing any work on hydraulic parts.

• Keep body and hands away from pin holes or nozzles which expel hydraulic fluid when under pressure. Use paper or cardboard, not hands, to search for leaks.

• Ensure all hydraulic fluid connections are tight and all hydraulic hoses and lines are in good condition before applying pressure to system.

• FOREIGN FLUID INJECTED INTO BODY can result in gangrene. Fluid must be surgically removed within a few hours by a doctor familiar with this form of injury.

Before making any inspections, repairs, etc.: disengage PTO, stop unit and engine, remove key, allow moving parts to stop.

Allow hot parts to cool.

ALWAYS block wheels, engage parking brake and know all jack stands are strong, secure and will hold weight of unit during maintenance.

An extension spring, when extended, stores energy and can be dangerous. Always use tools specifically designed for installing or removing an extension spring. Always compress or extend springs slowly.

ALWAYS maintain unit in safe operating condition. Damaged or worn out muffler can cause fire or explosion.

Keep hardware, especially blade attachment bolts, tight.

Maintain or replace safety and instruction labels, as necessary.

For unit storage or extended storage:

• NEVER store with fuel in fuel tank, inside a building where any ignition sources are present.

• Allow engine to cool completely.Use only attachments or accessories designed for your unit and that can be used safely on your terrain.

Check attachment components frequently. If worn or damaged, replace with manufacturer’s recommended parts.

To reduce fire hazard and overheating, keep equipment free of grass, leaves, debris or excessive lubricants.

Use extra care with grass catchers and other attachments. These can change the stability of the unit. Use only approved hitch points.

ALWAYS be aware of attachments when turning. ALWAYS allow adequate clearance between attachments, personnel, and other objects.

Gravely does not recommend the use of a Sulky with this unit.

INSTALLATION OF POWER BRUSH TO RAPID UNITS

1. Install Rapid adapter kit number 78510700 to the unit (figure 6). See kit 78510700 for installation instructions.

2. Install double universal joint (item 2) on Rapid adapter kit.

3. Install hex bolt, spacer and nut from Rapid adapter kit as shown in figure 6.

NOTE: The three other hex bolts, spacers and nuts from the Rapid adapter kit are not needed for this application.

4. Install Rapid adapter kit and double universal joint (item 2) on power brush (item 1) (figure 7).

5. Install washer and lynch pin on Rapid adapter kit.

IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE attachment locking pin is completely seated prior to engaging the PTO.

6. Install knob (item 3) on power brush (item 1) with 5/16” x 1-1/4” hex bolt (item 4), flat washer (item 5) and 5/16” spin lock flange nut (item 6) (figure 7).

INSTALLATION OF FOUR-WHEEL TRACTOR COMPLETING KIT (KIT # 78701400)

1. Install adapter (item 25) on the power brush (item 1) with four 1/2” x 1-1/2” hex bolts (item 24) and 1/2” nylon locknuts (item 34) (figure 8).

2. Install two plastic grommets (item 16) into the square holes in the left side of the frame (figure 9).

3. Install the control rod bracket (item 21) with two 1/4 x 3/4” self tapping screws (item 20).

4. Install the control rod bracket grommet (item 19) into the hole in the control rod bracket (item 21).

5. Install the splined end of the universal joint (item 28) with the splined end of the power brush shaft with 1/2” x 2" hex bolt (item 27) and 1/4” nylon locknut (item 26) (figure 10).

6. Put multipurpose grease on the square end of the universal joint (item 30).

7. Install square shaft of universal joint (item 30) into universal joint (item 28) (figure 10).

INSTALLATION OF POWER BRUSH TO FOUR-WHEEL TRACTOR

NOTE: The four-wheel tractor completing kit (kit # 78701400) must be installed first.

1. Ensure that the hydraulic lift cylinder is bolted to the top hole (Hole A) in the lift arm weldment. The bolt must be moved again to the bottom hole (Hole B) when the center mount mower is attached. See figure 11.

2. Open the equipment latch on the unit. See figure 12.

3. Place the adapter (item 25) into position in the equipment latches. Close the equipment latches and install the cotter pins (figure 12).

4. Place the locking collar of the universal joint (item 30) on the front PTO shaft.

NOTE: Pull the locking collar toward the universal joint and hold it. If the universal joint has the locking collar that twists, twist the locking collar in the direction of the arrows and hold it. Slide the locking collar halfway on the PTO shaft and release the locking collar. Push the locking collar on the PTO shaft until it locks in position.

NOTE: If the power brush is to be connected to the 8000 Series tractor (with the long frame) or the 8000-G Series tractor, install the rod without the spacer and washer.

5. Install push rod (item 32) on adapter (item 25) with cotter pin (item 33) (figure 12).

6. Install control rod (item 18) through the control rod bracket (item 21) and install knob (item 17) (figure 9).

WARNING: Unintentional startup or contact with exposed components can cause severe personal injury. Stop the engine, wait for all parts to come to a complete stop, remove the key from the ignition switch, and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance, installation, removal, or adjustment.

7. Install control rod (item 18) to power brush (item 1) with flat washer (item 22) and cotter pin (item 23) (figure 12).

INSTALLATION OF TWO WHEEL TRACTOR COMPLETING KIT (KIT # 78502300)

1. Remove the nut and hex bolt that fastens the gear shift control lever to the handlebar. Keep the nut and hex bolt (figure 13).

2. Install control rod guide (item 11) on handlebar and gear shift control with 1/2” x 2-34” hex bolt (item 10) and the nut removed in step 1.

3. Install grommet (item 12) in the control rod guide (item 11).

4. Put the bushing (item 8) on the top right side attachment adapter stud. Put the nut on the stud and tighten (figure 14).

5. Install double universal joint (item 2) power brush (item 1) shaft drive (figure 15).

INSTALLATION OF POWER BRUSH TO THE GEAR TWO-WHEEL TRACTOR

1. Install the quick hitch pin into the hitch pin hole on the brush mounting bracket 1.25" (3.18 cm) (figure 15).

2. Install double universal joint (item 2) on the tractor drive shaft. Push the power brush (item 1) all the way on the quick hitch pin and install the flat washer and the lynch pin (figure 16).

3. Install control rod (item 13) through control rod guide (item 11) and install knob (item 9) (figure 14 on page 11).

4. Install control rod (item 13) on latch release with flat washer (item 14) and cotter pin (item 15) (figure 16).

REMOVAL OF POWER BRUSH FROM RAPID UNITS

1. Remove washer and lynch pin from Rapid adapter kit (figure 17).

2. Remove power brush (item 1) from Rapid adapter kit and double universal joint (item 2).

3. Remove double universal joint (item 2) from Rapid adapter kit (figure 18).

4. Remove Rapid adapter kit from unit.

REMOVAL OF POWER BRUSH FROM THE FOUR-WHEEL TRACTOR

1. Remove cotter pin (item 23) and flat washer (item 22) from the control rod (item 18) at the latch release (figure 19).

2. Remove knob (item 17) from control rod (item 18).

3. Remove control rod (item 18) from the control rod bracket (item 21).

4. Remove cotter pin (item 33) and push rod (item 32) from adapter (item 25) and tractor.

5. Remove the locking collar from the PTO shaft. If the universal joint has the locking collar that twists, twist the locking collar in the direction of the arrows and hold it. Pull the universal joint from the PTO shaft.

6. Remove the cotter pins from the equipment latches. Open the equipment latches.

7. Separate the power brush from the tractor. Put the universal joint on the drive shaft of the power brush. (figure 10).

8. Keep the push rod, control rod and universal joint with the power brush.

1. Lower the stand on the tractor to keep the rear of the tractor from falling to the ground when the power brush is removed.

2. Remove cotter pin (item 15), flat washer (item 14), and control rod (item 13) from the latch release (figure 20).

3. Remove knob (item 9) from the control rod (item 13).

4. Remove control rod (item 13) from control rod guide (item 11).

5. Remove the lynch pin and washer from the quick hitch pin (figure 20).

6. Separate tractor and the power brush. Put the universal joint on the power brush drive shaft (figure 15).

BEFORE EACH USEFollow all maintenance and adjustments procedures. See Maintenance on page 16 and Service and Adjustments on page 17.

OPERATING THE BRUSH1. Adjust the brush contact area. See Brush Contact

Adjustment on page 17.

2. Start the engine. Wait until the engine is running smoothly before operating.

3. Adjust the angle of the brush. See Brush Angle Adjustment on page 17.

4. Move the throttle lever to the fast position.

5. Engage the PTO (power take-off).

6. Place the brush the angle needed and sweep a distance of 10 feet (3 m). Place the key switch in the off position, wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop and remove the key from the ignition.

7. Check the cleared area to determine if the brush is clearing properly. If the brush needs adjustment, follow the procedures in Service and Adjustments on page 17.

8. Select the speed that best matches the sweeping conditions.

SHUTTING OFF1. Shut off the PTO.

2. Shut off the engine and remove the ignition key.

MAINTENANCE

Interval Task Action

After 4 Hours

Adjust the chain. See Chain Adjustment on page 18.

Daily

Check fasteners. Inspect all nuts, bolts and other fasteners to ensure that they are tight. Replace any missing fasteners. Inspect to ensure that all guards and covers are in place and securely fastened.

Clean unit. Clear away debris from the brush.

Every 8 hours

Lubricate grease zerks and pivot.

NOTE: There are five grease zerks on the power brush. There is one on each wheel fork, on each caster wheel axle and one on the pivot. There is also one grease zerk on the universal joint used on the 8000 and 8000-G Series Tractor.

NOTE: Do not add multipurpose grease to the pivot when the brush is used on the 8000 or 8000-G Series Tractor.

Every 100

hours

Grease the gearbox. After 100 operating hours, remove the gearbox cover and replace the multipurpose grease. Use chain lubricant SAE-50 with Paratec or equivalent to lubricate the chain.

NOTE: Do not damage the gasket on the gearbox cover. If the gasket is damaged, replace it.

BRUSH CONTACT ADJUSTMENTTo adjust the brush to ground contact area:

1. Place the brush unit on a level, flat surface.

2. Turn the contact adjustment to the right to decrease the brush contact area (figure 21.

3. Turn the contact adjustment to the left to increase the brush contact area.

NOTE: The brush contact area with the ground must be even across the width of the brush.

BRUSH ANGLE ADJUSTMENTTo adjust the brush angle:

1. Start the engine. Wait until the engine is running smoothly before operating.

NOTE: Perform steps 2 through 7 for Gear Two-Wheel Tractors and Four-Wheel Tractors.Perform steps 8 through 11 for Rapid units.

2. Move the throttle to the fast position.

3. Engage the PTO (power take-off).

4. Put the direction control in the forward position.

5. To angle the brush to the right, pull the direction control rod and steer the unit to the left. Release the control rod to hold the brush in that position.

6. To angle the brush to the left, pull the control rod and steer the unit to the right. Release the control rod to hold the brush in that position.

7. To angle the brush straight, pull the control rod and steer the unit straight. Release the control rod to hold the brush in that position.

8. Pull up on the direction control knob and pull the brush to the right or left.

9. Release direction control knob.

10. Move the throttle to the fast position.

11. Engage the PTO.

CHAIN ADJUSTMENTTo adjust the power brush drive chain:

IMPORTANT: Adjust the chain after the first four hours of operation and thereafter adjust every 100 operating hours.

1. Loosen the nut and move the block against the chain until the chain is straight at the top. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the chain. Tighten the nut. See figure 22.

BRUSH REPLACEMENTTo replace the brush element:

1. Disconnect the brush from the unit.

2. Turn the power brush over with the wheels up.

3. Remove the side plate.

4. Remove the connecting link from the chain. Remove the chain from the sprocket. See figure 23.

5. Remove the bolts from the flangette bearing on each end of the brush. See figure 24.

6. Remove the brush from the support frame.

7. Loosen the locking collar set screw. Put a punch in the hole without threads. Hit the punch with a hammer to turn the locking collar 1/4 turn counterclockwise.

8. Remove the locking collar and the bearing from the shaft.

9. Remove the .25 x 2.00 cotter pin and the three spacers from the shaft. See figure 24.

10. Remove the shaft from the brush.

11. Install the replacement brush on the shaft. Put the spacers on the shaft and install the .25 x 2.00 cotter pin.

12. Put the flangette bearing on the shaft with the flat side toward the brush. Put the locking collar on the bearing shoulder. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE LOCKING COLLAR AT THIS TIME.

13. Put the brush in the frame.

14. Fasten the sprocket side flangette bearing to the support frame first, using the hardware removed in Step 5.

15. Fasten the opposite flangette bearing to the frame on the other side.

16. To tighten the locking collar, put a punch in the hole without the threads. Hit the punch with a hammer, turning the locking collar clockwise until tight.

17. Put the chain on the sprocket and install the connecting link and retainer clip.

18. Adjust the chain for tension per the Chain Tightening instructions.

19. Install the left side plate on the frame using the.31-18 x.75 hex bolts and nuts.

IMPORTANT: NEVER spray unit with high-pressure water. DO NOT store unit outdoors.

Clean plastic surfaces with sponge and mild detergent. Dry with a soft cloth.

Remove all dirt, grease, leaves, etc. from unit.

Store in a clean, dry area.

Ensure all fasteners are properly tightened. Inspect moving parts for damage and wear.

Touch up all rusted or chipped painted surfaces.

1. Worn or damage brush.

Brush pulls unit to one side. 1. Brush when angled causes the unit to pull to one side.

2. Brush not level.

1. This is normal operation when the brush is angled. No correction is needed.

Brush does not operate when the PTO is engaged.

Warranties2-Year Limited Lawn and Garden Consumer WarrantyAriens Company (Ariens) warrants to the original purchaser that Ariens and Gravely brand consumer products manufactured by Ariens Company will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years after the date of purchase, and that Ariens will repair any defect in material or workmanship, and repair or replace any defective part, subject to the conditions, limitations and exclusions set forth herein. Such repair or replacement will be free of charge to the original purchaser (labor and parts), except as noted below.

The two-year duration of this warranty applies only if the product is put to ordinary, reasonable, and usual personal, family, or household uses. If the product is put to any business, commercial, or industrial use such as, but not limited to, commercial landscaping, mowing or snow removal services, or golf course or park maintenance, or agricultural or farmstead use, then the duration of this warranty is ninety (90) days after the date of purchase, or one (1) year after the date of purchase if the product is labeled as a Professional/Commercial Product. The duration of this warranty shall be ninety (90) days after the date of purchase if any product is rented or leased.

2-Year Limited Lawn and Garden Commercial WarrantyThe Ariens Company (Ariens) warrants to the original purchaser that all Gravely Pro and ProMaster products manufactured by Ariens will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years after the date of purchase or 1000 hours of use, whichever comes first. An authorized Gravely dealer will repair any defect in material or workmanship, and repair or replace any defective part, subject to the conditions, limitations and exclusions set forth herein. Such repair or replacement will be free of charge to the original purchaser (labor and parts), except as noted below.

The duration of this warranty shall be ninety (90) days after the date of purchase or 1000 hours of use, whichever comes first, if any product is rented or leased.

3-Year Limited Sno-Thro WarrantyAriens Company (Ariens) warrants to the original purchaser that Sno-Thro products manufactured by Ariens Company will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of three (3) years after the date of purchase, and will repair any defect in material or workmanship, and repair or replace any defective part, subject to the conditions, limitations and exclusions set forth herein. Such repair or replacement will be free of charge to the original purchaser (labor and parts), except as noted below.

The three-year duration of this warranty applies only if the product is put to ordinary, reasonable, and usual personal, family, or household uses. If the product is put to any business, commercial, or industrial use, then the duration of this warranty is ninety (90) days after the date of purchase, or one (1) year after the date of purchase if the product is labeled as a Professional/Commercial Product. The duration of this warranty shall be ninety (90) days after the date of purchase if any product is rented or leased.

DURA-CLEAN™ Auger Limited Lifetime WarrantyAriens Company (Ariens) warrants to the original purchaser that the rubber components of the DURA-CLEAN™ Auger manufactured by Ariens Company will be free from defects in material and workmanship and will not wear out for the life of the Sno-Thro, except as noted below.

Ariens Company will provide for the replacement of any of the rubber components of the DURA-CLEAN™ Auger found upon examination by the Ariens Company to be defective or worn out. Replacements will be supplied free of charge. Labor is not included after two (2) years from the date of purchase of the Sno-Thro.

The lifetime limited warranty shall apply if the product is put to ordinary, reasonable, and usual personal household use. If the product is put to any business, commercial, industrial, rental, or leased use, the warranty shall be against defects in material and workmanship for ninety (90) days following the date of purchase.

Exceptions, Limitations, Exclusions

These warranties are subject to the following conditions, limitations, and exclusions:

To obtain warranty service, the following conditions must be met:

• The purchaser must perform the maintenance and minor adjustments explained in the owner’s manual.

• The purchaser must promptly notify Ariens Company or an authorized Ariens service representative of the need for warranty service.

• The purchaser must transport the product to and from the place of warranty service.

• Warranty service must be performed by a respective Ariens or Gravely authorized service representative.

This warranty is subject to the following limitations:

• Genuine Ariens or Gravely brand service parts and accessories not purchased with the product covered by this warranty, but which are later purchased and used with that product, are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of ninety (90) days after date of purchase, and Ariens Company will repair or replace any such part or accessory free of charge, except for labor, during that period.

• Batteries are warranted only for a period of twelve (12) months after date of purchase, on a prorated basis. For the first ninety (90) days of the warranty period, a defective battery will be replaced free of charge. If the applicable warranty period is more than 90 days, Ariens Company will cover the prorated cost of any defective battery, for up to twelve (12) months after the date of purchase.

The following items are excluded from this warranty:

• Engines and engine accessories are covered only by the engine manufacturer’s warranty and are not covered by this warranty.

• Peerless gearboxes and/or transmissions are covered only by Peerless’ warranty and are not covered by this warranty.

• Hydro-Gear transmissions and/or Hydro-Gear drive components are covered only by the Hydro-Gear warranty and are not covered by this warranty.

• Parts that are not genuine Ariens or Gravely brand service parts are not covered by this warranty.

• Except as specifically warranted, normal maintenance, services, and normal replacement items, such as spark plugs, oil, oil filters, air filters, mufflers, belts, tires, shoes, runners, scraper blades, shear bolts, mower blades, mower vanes, headlights, light bulbs, knives, etc. are not covered by this warranty except as noted below.

• Mufflers, belts, and tires on consumer lawn and garden products are warranted to the original purchaser for two years.

• Friction discs, idlers, cables, and electrical components on Sno-Thros put to usual personal household use are warranted to the original purchaser for two years.

• Any defect which is the result of misuse, alteration, improper assembly, improper adjustment, neglect, or accident is not covered by this warranty.

• This warranty applies only to products purchased in the United States (including Puerto Rico) and Canada. In all other countries, contact place of purchase for warranty information.

Ariens may from time to time change the design of its products. Nothing contained in this warranty shall be construed as obligating Ariens to incorporate such design changes into previously manufactured products, nor shall such changes be construed as an admission that previous designs were defective.

LIMITATION OF REMEDY AND DAMAGESAriens Company’s liability under this warranty, and under any implied warranty that may exist, is limited to repair of any defect in workmanship, and repair or replacement of any defective part. Ariens Company shall not be liable for incidental, special, or consequential damages (including lost profits). Some states do not allow the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

DISCLAIMER OF FURTHER WARRANTYAriens Company makes no warranty, express or implied, other than what is expressly made in this warranty. If the law of your state provides that an implied warranty of merchantability, or an implied warranty of fitness for particular purpose, or any other implied warranty, applies to Ariens Company, then any such implied warranty is limited to the duration of this warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
