In the semi- finals, Al-Arabi overwhelmed Al-Salmiya with 4-0 and Kuwait made a hard victory against Al-Qadsiya, 1-0. In the history of this championship, Al-Arabi won against their foes in 1963, 1969, 1971 and 2014. The team had been crowned champions 15 times since 1962, the year when the national tournament was launched.
