5AVi!. BY GIVING
One week-day afternoon. a petite elderly la~ whose cOWltenance betrayed signs of recent distress and bereavement slowly walked into~ Club headquarters. After making numerous courteous bows, she spoke in a sort solemn tone. "My late husband received 26 pints of valuable blood through the kind.'1ess of the members 01' you r Club 100. Immediately following hio initial hospitalization. he show e d definite signs of recovery. H~ mentioned from time to time that as soon as he could get around a little more 'I must attGnd a meeting of the Club
100 and thank each member personally for giving me strength in my hour of need.'" The brave woman while desperately trying to suppress r... now of tears continued. "Unfortunately. h .. had to re-enter the hospital :;Uldp3SSed away before he could come to you. I am here in his behalf today.Elease convey our sincerest gratitudetoyour members for their tremendous help. "
There are other cases of this sort in our blood bank file, indicating that this mutual assistanceproJect has greatly aided your friends of the lOOth and their loved on es. The dollars and centa our budd i e s have saved through your blood donations run into tive figures.
Ma~ ot us have sat back and watched lackadaisically while 0 u r paesans served as donors to lessen the plight of more unfortunatG p. rsona. But. no hot toot applicatio n is needed to aWaken us to the tact that the time may come soon when yru or your !oyed ones may be direct 1 y sulken a square blow by OldMtn Cal_ amity.
Our Blood Bank reserve is LOW today because the cry tor help h 8 S been coming to us week atter week in a steady stream. The Honolulu Blood BenIt has adopted a policy not to e ~ tend credits to organizational~er_ ves. The more reason why we should not let the BlOOd Bank reserve di~ ish. We solicit, the support ot eac h and everyone ot you to strengthen OUr reserve so that more blood can begmn to you or to others that require it.
Some ot us have contributed mce and are ready to go again. other II ,
