THE DRIVER'S FRONT AIRBAG INFLATOR, WHEN DEPLOYING IN A CRASH, COULD RUPTURE AND BREAK APART, SENDING METALFRAGMENTS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL TOWARDS YOU AND YOUR PASSENGERS, POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUSINJURY OR FATALITY. Description: AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC. (HONDA) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2011 ELEMENT AND 2009-2013 RIDGELINE VEHICLES. THE PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR IN YOUR VEHICLE MAY RUPTURE WHEN DEPLOYINGDURING A CRASH. THE POTENTIAL FOR SUCH RUPTURES MAY OCCUR IN SOME OF THE SUBJECT AIRBAG INFLATORS AFTERSEVERAL YEARS OF EXPOSURE TO PERSISTENT CONDITIONS OF HIGH ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY. HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOIDHAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED.

IN THE EVENT OF A PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAGCUSHION MATERIAL, POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN INJURY TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
