As the Liturgical Year draws to a close, the readings have a dark, somewhat frightening tenor about them. But Jesus offers hope, even amid predictions of “…powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place” and yes, persecution too. This gospel reminds us to pray for victims of natural disasters as well as for those Christians who are being persecuted for their faith. The growing secularization of our culture demands that people of faith be ready to give testimony to the saving message of Jesus Christ. Jesus assures us, “I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.” Trust Jesus, He will give you the wisdom to say what needs to be said.

Our next meeting of the Collaborative Book Club:

Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 7:00 pm at the St. Francis of Assisi Dining Hall

Our next book to read and share in discussion is:

Made for More

A note from the book’s author, Curtis Martin, who is a team member at Dynamic Catholic:

We have a limited number of copies of the book available for purchase at the Parish Office at a discounted rate of $3.00 each. If you are interested in joining the Collaborative Book Club, please contact the Parish Office to sign up. We look forward to seeing you!

”While everything you do — and every decision you make — is aimed at making you happy, you may step back from time to time and ask yourself, “Why am I here?” and “Is there a deeper meaning to life?” To find these answers, you need go beyond the distractions of the world and be open to discovering your true purpose and self-potential.

If you find your true purpose, you’ll discover that you really are “made for more” than what our

culture has to offer. You’ll see life as the adventure it’s meant to be, and you’ll find that you have an

irreplaceable role to play in the world. This will set you on a path toward true peace and contentment that will last for the rest of your life — and into

eternity.”
