Hello LeadingAge Missouri members and supporters. Welcome to your “Be the Voice” conference and exposition!!! As your new executive at my first LeadingAge meeting, I’m awed by the teamwork that produces this gathering of “voices” for Missouri aging services. Thank you for being here. I’ve looked forward to meeting you, to learning alongside and from you and to sharing food, drink, and laughter. If you believe as I do, that association membership value is delivered through education, communication, advocacy, relationship-building and peer recognition, your LeadingAge Missouri Board, staff and colleagues have

staged a stellar conference that nails these value proposition elements. We should all be proud to “Be the Voices” in a field that values and models collaboration. As this brochure reveals, your conference boasts 53 education sessions presented by experts, and permits up to 17 CE hours. Three meals will be served in the Exhibit Hall – including a fun Tuesday night “Dine Around” – guaranteeing time to learn about new and improved products and services offered by Business Partners. The Board and I encourage you to visit the Exhibit Hall often to meet Business Partners who support our collective mission. And don’t forget to introduce yourself to our new ValueFirst representative at his booth. The opening session honors the exemplary service and contributions of long-time national President, Larry Minnix. Larry will share his informed vision for aging services while I will highlight Missouri initiatives that incoming Board Chair, Christine Crouch, and I have been planning. We will also undertake the formal business of our association and recognize member achievements with awards. Finally, supplementing the collegial networking that occurs during breaks and meals, we’ve planned an outing Wednesday night that will literally “bowl” you over! For aging services, the year-ahead portends to be transformational and transitional. The CMS recently proposed significant new rules for long-term care facilities that contract with Medicare and Medicaid. Missouri will consider workforce and reimbursement policies. Voters will elect a new Missouri Governor and U.S. President, and perhaps alter the composition of legislatures. Nothing remains the same in representative government, except change! And I don’t have to remind you that transformational demographic, social and economic challenges for aging services haven’t disappeared. LeadingAge will also experience transformation and transition. We say farewell to Larry Minnix, Paul Ewert and Board members. We will welcome a new National leader, a new Board Chair Christine Crouch, new Board members and me. During this transition, I need your input and feedback more than ever to improve LeadingAge Missouri. Let us honor those passing the batons of leadership by remembering that we meet the challenges of transformation and transition by working together. I look forward to working with you in 2016 to “Be the Voice.” Sincerely,

Bill Bates CEO
