Tom Vac can be stacked so that up to five chairs can be stored, thereby saving space

The outdoor version has a galvanised, powder-coated base

In 1997 the Anglo-Israeli designer Ron Arad created a shell chair made of aluminium for the Milan furniture show, and built a tower exhibit consisting of 100 chairs. They were too uncomfortable and complex in design to go into series production, however, and so Arad went on to design a broad synthetic shell with Vitra that is so characteristic of Tom Vac. The wave-textured seat is very comfortable, as well as both stable and flexible. Tom Vac can be stacked so that up to five chairs can be stored, thereby saving space.

VersatileTom Vac is suited to a number of environ-ments. It can be used, for example, as a single chair in shops, offices or in the home, but also in places where more chairs are required, such as in restaurants, cafs, meeting and conference rooms or in waiting areas.

Also for outdoor use The outdoor version has a galvanised, pow-der-coated base (using RAL 9006, silver). Special additives in the seat shell protect against fading caused by UV radiation.
