Hello Cussy Lovers. Another year with our great Club is over and what a year it was. A lot of car shows, many

runs and our Tassie Trekkers trip, was for me, the highlight of the year and of course the members who are wonderful people to spend time with.

We have some excellent weekends coming up, Euroa and Bright and some of us are going to Tallangatta for the 50's festival on the 28th of October and over a three day weekend.

Of course we have the Clubs Annual Christmas Party to look forward to as well on the 4th of December and maybe a text run or two. Please send back your Christmas Reply Slip with numbers attending and payment accordingly, by the 15th of November, to assure your seat at the party. See you all at the next meeting on the 18th September

Keep on cruising in the Cussy’s!

Rob Breheny Your Club President.

Best Wishes to all Celebrating their Birthdays during the next Three Months.

Hi All. Here I am again with the next issue of our newsletter, although it is a little light on. The winter months have kept a few of us at home with the heater on. It’s been colds and flu weather for a lot of us and if you missed out on getting one then it’s your turn to buy the Lotto ticket. Mick has put together a good selection of runs and events to keep you all entertained as the warmer weather approaches. We hope you enjoy this shorter newsletter and keep the run sheet handy. Rob Brereton Newsletter Editor and Mick Breheny Assistant Newsletter Editor.

Our New MemberS We have 2 new membership

applications this Newsletter, so let’s all welcome Les Stocks from Melton South, who has a 58 Star Model (not registered yet) and Terry Collins from Cobargo NSW who has a Black 49 Ute and a Black 54 Sedan. We hope you enjoy your time with the Club.

Don’t forget our Christmas Party. Included with your Newsletter is your flyer for this year’s Club Christmas Party. Please send back the reply slip, with your payments ASAP, so we won’t forget to cater for you and your family and don’t forget to insert your Member Surname. This year it is to be held again at the Beveridge Recreation Reserve Hall where we will be having a fully catered Spit Roast. All details as per the attached Flyer and Runs Sheet. Please return forms to Mick Breheny by the 15th November, so the committee can organize this function. Hope to see you all there again this year. Rob Breheny. President.

The BiG Morning Tea

28/5/16 The Rubber Connection - Big Morning Tea. Kyle and myself are off to the Rubber Connection for the Big Morning Tea. But we are making a detour to call in to see John n Sue Gladwell's Ford house in Doveton. To have a look at Dazzle and Dazzle did not disappoint. It is a different one off vehicle, wether U love it or hate it, to see it up close is a different experience.

If U have only seen it in a photo U may change your mind if U get the chance to see it in the flesh. After a good chat with John n Sue it was off to the rubber connection for the Big Morning Tea.

There was a good selection of cars and hot rods on show but the rain started so that had us all inside. The snags were nice and hot, so was the tea n coffee, the cakes were OK too. We had 9 cars from the Cussy Club so thank U all for coming along for a good cause. The raffles were over and our group

picked up a few winners. All in all it was a good day. Mick n Kyle.

Deer Park Pub Lunch Run 3-7-16 Up early and off - not to Deer Park, but to Melton to drop the Tudor off to the panel beater for assessment and (hopefully) resurrection. For those who may not have heard, I had a meeting with a low flying kangaroo on the way to the Ballarat Fridge Swap meet. Not happy! After dropping the car off it was back into Shayne’s trusty Rav4 for the trip back down the highway to catch up with everyone for lunch. Everyone was very supportive and their commiserations helped heaps as did the great lunch and a few quiet drinks! All who attended seemed to have a great time and it was difficult to drag ourselves away but someone has

to keep the wheels of industry turning and so eventually off we went.

Thanks again to Mick for arranging a very enjoyable afternoon. The company was great as always and we are

both looking

forward to the next

chance to catch up

with everyone. Cheers.

Shayne and David Healey.

Hello Cussy Lovers. 17-07-2016.

The AGM is over again for another year and I am very honoured and proud to be your President for the coming year. I will do the best I can to ensure our Club continues to be the best in the country.

On behalf of the Club I thank the outgoing committee for their hard work in keeping the club running so well and for all the help they gave to me. To our new committee a huge welcome and I know we will all work together to ensure we have another great year. All the names and mug shots along with the appointed positions and the President's award can be found on Page 5. Congratulations to Rob Brereton on being the first recipient of the President's Award. To our new members we extend a very warm welcome and we look forward to enjoying all our Club events with you. To Mick a very big thank you for the great job you did with all the runs over the past year, and of course to all our members, thank you for making our club what it is today the, “best car Club in the country”.

Keep on cruising in the Cussys. Rob Breheny. President.

Sunday morning, the 28th of August, and it’s a bit dull, but it was still a nice day. I headed off to the Stamford Pub, unfortunately not in the Cussy, for lunch with other Club members. I was on my own this day as Joan had made other plans for today. Just as well we went out for lunch as I was told by an attendee, later that night, that Marong was a disaster and a place to avoid. I arrived at the Stamford, amongst light traffic, to find some members had already arrived and we had a total of eight Cussy’s lined up plus one Mustang. There

should have been one more but Wayne and June broke down on the way and had to return home. We all said our hellos and had a good yak till about 1:00pm when we all headed into the Family Bistro for lunch. We got seated, had a drink, and ordered our meals. Unfortunately there were several kids parties going on and the noise was deafening, but that faded gradually as they left. After filling ourselves with a good variety of dishes from the menu, and a coffee to top it off we all departed about 3:45pm and headed for home. It was great to catch with everyone again and have a yak. See you again soon. Rob Brereton. Hwre are some interesting facts to add to your knowldge 1956 US Production The 1956 Customlines utilized the 1955 bodies with only minor changes. A Customline Victoria 2-door hardtop was added to the range. 1956 US Customline production totaled 368,653 units. The Customline was not carried over to the 1957 model year in the US. Australian Production The Customline was also produced by Ford Australia from 1952 to 1959. Cars were assembled using Australian built bodies and imported chassis kits which included all front sheet metal. In addition to the Customline sedan, a limited number of station wagons and the Australian developed Mainline Coupe Utility were produced. The 1952 model was updated in 1953 and 1954 along the lines of the US Fords. All were powered by the Flathead V8 which went into Australian production in 1952. This included the 1954 model which was fitted with the older engine rather than the new overhead valve Y-block V8 which had been introduced in the US for 1954. The 1955 body was used for four model series in Australia. The 1955 model was powered by the overhead valve Y-block 272ci V8 which had entered partial Australian production with locally sourced components. The 1956 model featured the 1956 US Customline grille, 12 volt electrics and a new Fordomatic automatic transmission option. The 1957 model retained the 1956 body but featured a large V8 badge positioned in the grille and utilized 1956 Ford Fairlane trim. The 1958 model used the 1955 Canadian Meteor grille with a four-pointed star and 1956 Meteor side trim. The 1958 ‘star model’ was badged as either a Customline (manual) or as a Fordomatic. Production ended in September 1959 with the introduction of Australian assembled 1959 Fairlane 500, Custom 300 and Ranch Wagon models. An estimated 18,000 examples of the 1955 to1959 Sedan were produced.
