1. Must be a graduate or graduating senior from Aiea High School or Pearl City High School who will be attending an accredited vocational, 2-year or 4-year institution of higher education on a full-time basis in Hawaii or the U.S. Mainland. Full-time is defined as a student enrolled in a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours of instruction per semester or quarter.

2. Must be a U.S. citizen and legal resident of Hawaii.3. A graduating high school senior must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or

greater.4. A returning college undergraduate must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater for the past

academic year.5. Ineligible are Rotarians or their spouse, children, grandchildren, stepchildren, brothers or

sisters. Interact students who are not related to a Rotarian as stated above, shall not be considered Rotarians for the purpose of qualifying for this scholarship.

6. Individuals entering one of the U.S. Military Academies, receiving an “all expenses paid” scholarship or attending a college or university outside of the United States, also shall be ineligible for this scholarship.

Ina Goodwin Tateuchi and her late husband, Atsuhiko Tateuchi, both came from hard-working families and were taught to appreciate and respect education. They provide ten $5000 scholarships for students from the Pacific Rim states (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington) who demonstrate hard work, dedication and sincerity. Students must have financial need, academic merit and be of Japanese or other Asian ancestry, including multi-ethnic Asians. Students from middle income families are encouraged to apply. Each year, roughly 20 Scholars will receive a $10,000 scholarship that is renewable and may be used over a period of six (6) consecutive years from the initial award date for a total award of $40,000.

Who is eligible?GE-Reagan Foundation Scholars candidates must:

Who is eligible to apply?Applicants to the AXA Achievementsm Scholarship must:

Be a United States citizen or legal resident living or claiming residency in one of the 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico.

Be a current high school senior who plans to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2018-19 academic year. Enrollment at an accredited postsecondary institution outside of the United States will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities.

What will be awarded?Fifty-two (52) students will each receive a $10,000 scholarship. One recipient will be selected from each U.S. state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

From among these 52 recipients, ten (10) will be selected to receive an additional $15,000 scholarship. These national AXA Achievers will each be awarded scholarships totaling $25,000.

Approximately 300 students will be selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship.

 

AXA Achievementsm Scholarships must be used for education-related expenses for undergraduate study only. Awards are not renewable; however, recipients receiving the $10,000 and $25,000 awards may arrange to receive payment in installments over multiple years as long as the student continues to enroll in undergraduate study. Recipients receiving the $2,500 award must use it during the 2018-19 academic year.

How do I apply?The first step is to register, create an application account and complete your student profile. To begin, click on the Create an Account link at the bottom of this page. The link to your application is displayed on the Student Overview page of this site after you create your profile. Your Student Profile is NOT your application.

Students should gather the following information needed for the application process:

List of involvement in school and community activities List of work experience Current high school cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale The details of your outstanding achievement. Read through the online application’s essay

questions and carefully consider your responses. Be sure to fully capture and articulate what makes your achievement truly outstanding. You may wish to use word processing software to write and edit your responses. If you copy and paste your responses into the appropriate application fields, review the pasted text carefully for any character shifting or replacements that may have occurred. Also, place the cursor into the pasted text to activate the application’s character counter function. Essays cannot exceed character limits.

Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.

Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.

You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.
