We are excited to finally be in-person again! Please jointhe WAA at our next Fall Seminar. Enjoy the breathtakinglake views and the facilities at Army Lake Camp & RetreatCenter in East Troy, WI. The Program Committee has puttogether another outstanding educational event. We areoffering Two Tracks of Education, one indoors and oneoutdoors, along with an outdoor demonstration of electricpower equip ment. Our indoor track offers information onfruit tree man age ment, root rots and local forest productsmarkets. Our out door track will consist of aerial lift inspec -tions, Skyline alternatives and trailer safety and loadsecurement. ALL of the sessions will be repeated, so youwon’t miss any thing. A buffet-style lunch will be servedwhile you enjoy spend ing time with all your friends andcolleagues you haven’t seen in a long time. We hope to seeyou at Army Lake!
Indoor Concurrent SessionsFruit for the Home Gardener– Paul SchwabeA brief discourse on how to be successful growing treefruits. This lecture will focus on the home production ofapples, peaches and cherries.
Root and Butt Decays: Getting Down to theBottom of It –Glen Stanosz (available in-person only)Root and butt decay fungi can have long-termimpacts on tree health, but also are particularlyimportant as causes of sudden total tree failure. Thefungi in this very diverse group differ in the types ofdecay pro duced, aggressive ness, and appearance offruiting struc tures. Learn symp toms and signs ofsome of the most common and important root andbutt decay fungi, and the implications for trees, treeowners, and arborists.Identifying & Serving Local Forest Products Markets –Logan Wells & Scott LyonThis talk is about identifying and serving differenttypes of forest product businesses in Wisconsin. Anoverview of the different industry sectors in the statefollowed by the spec i fications of the different rawmaterials those busi nesses are looking for will be themain discussion focus. Tailored to urban tree removals,we will go over a guide on how to identify different mar -kets and utilize material for the highest and best use.
Outdoor Concurrent SessionsHow to Perform Aerial Lift Daily Inspections–AdamNeelThis presentation will discuss inspections for aerial lifts/bucket trucksfor use on a daily basis.Skyline Alternatives– Eduardo Medina & Christian FeichtingerSkyline is an alternative access to the tree for specific situa tions,especially when climbing the tree would be a risk due to its condi -tion. This is especially true when the tree falls on top of the housedue to storm damage or for whatever reason the tree failed andcollapsed on the house.Trailer Safety & Load Securement–Mike StanonikThis presentation will cover the components of a trailering system,identifying load capacities, load distribution, and load securement.The Evolution of Battery Power Equipment – Scott Grim(available in-person only)Where battery products were in the past, where battery prod uctsare now, where are they going in the future. Can battery prod uctscompete with gas power products and are they a reli able resourcefor large end users? Will also have live demonstrations.
