Prayer For Our Bishop-Elect
Eternal God, Shepherd and Guide, may Dermot who will serve our Church be a shepherd aer your own heart, who will walk in your ways and with loving care, watch over your people. May he be a leader of vision and a teacher of your truth. So may your name be glorified and your Church built up through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Choir Practice for Episcopal Ordination
A minimum of five singers are needed from our parish choir who will be part of the choir: soprano, Alto, Bass or Tenor secons. As we have at least five choirs in the parish we hope this will be no problem. As the majority of the material is new it is essenal that singers aend all of the prac-ces. Pracces connue on Sunday in St John’s Church, 5.00 p.m. unl 6.30 approx.
LENTEN PROGRAM - STEP 1 - WEDNESDAY 7.30 p.m. SAINT JOHN’S CHURCH
As our Parish Lenten Program - ‘The 5 Steps To Easter’ - kicks off this week, we invite parishioners, friends and neighbouring parishes to avail of this wonderful oppor-tunity of spiritual renewal and preparation for the celebration of Easter.
In our response to the Ash Wednesday exhortation, ‘Turn away from sin and be faith-ful to the Gospel’ all Christians make various efforts towards ‘mortification’ and ‘penance’ by ‘Giving up’ or ‘Taking up’ things to be better prepared for the celebration of the saving mysteries of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Saviour.
All indications so far point towards great crowds being interested in our new initiative. So please come early to be assured a suitable seat location, and purchase your can-dle (€1) for the Sacred Space.
Once again, please accept that we only have a maximum of 55 parking spaces.

Lent is the time to start new patterns of prayer. Perhaps I haven't been praying at all. This is a great time to choose to begin. It is important to begin realistically. I can start by simply pausing when I get up and taking a slow, deep breath, and recalling that I want to do this day, more away that I am a child of God. I may want to go to bed a half an hour earlier, and get up a half an hour earlier and give myself some time alone to READ and to PRAY as I begin a new day.
I may choose to go to Mass each day during Lent. I may choose to get to church on Sunday, just 15 minutes earlier, so I can reflect a bit. Lent may be a time I would want to choose to start to journal the day to day reflections that are coming, the desires I'm naming and asking for, the graces I am being given.
