Love
Light your fourth candle on the Advent wreath
On the fourth Sunday of Advent, light the first three candles as well as the final
purple candle. This last purple candle in the Advent wreath is the Love candle.
It reminds us that
"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal
life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the
world, but to save the world through Him." (John 3:16-17)
Lord God, we light this candle to thank you for your Son our Savior Jesus
Christ, who is the way. We who like sheep have gone astray have found the way
to you through Jesus Christ. We give you thanks and praise in Jesus' name,
because he lives and reigns with you in your glory, and in the unity of the Holy
Spirit,
Amen.

LOVE
This is the 4th Sunday of Advent and the Sunday just before the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ at Christmas.
The theme for this week is LOVE. In a recent homily during the noonday Angelus, Pope Francis made all of us
understand the true meaning of God’s LOVE. Here, in his own words, is his reflection on the mean of LOVE.
“But the joy of the Gospel, however, is not just any joy. It is motivated by the knowledge that we are
wanted and loved by God … God is He Who comes to save us, and Who especially comes to the aid of a
fearful heart. His coming among us strengthens us; it makes us stand firm, it gives us courage, it makes the
desert and the steppe rejoice and bloom; our lives become arid without the water of God's Word and His
Spirit of LOVE. No matter how great our limitations and our disorientation, we are not permitted to be
weak and uncertain in the face of difficulties and our own weaknesses. Instead, we are invited to
strengthen our hands, to stand firm, to be courageous and not to fear, for our God always shows the
greatness of His mercy. He gives us the strength to carry on. … He is a God Who loves us very much, Who
loves us and is therefore among us, to help us to grow stronger and to move on. Courage, on we go!”
“With His help, we can always start afresh, even when we are sure it is impossible. You can start again,
because he awaits you, He is close to you, He loves you, and He is merciful. … We are able to open our eyes
again, overcome sadness and tears and sing a new song. And this true joy stands up to the test, even of
suffering, because it is not a superficial joy; on the contrary, it permeates the very depths of the person
who entrusts himself to God".
“Christian joy, like hope, has its foundation in the faithfulness of God, in the certainty that He always keeps
His promises. … Those who have met Jesus along the way have experienced serenity and joy that nothing
and nobody can deprive them of. Our joy is Jesus Christ, His faithful and inexhaustible LOVE! Therefore,
when a Christian becomes sad it means that he or she has turned away from Jesus. But then we must not
leave him alone, we must pray for him, and let him feel the warmth of the community".
“The Virgin Mary helps us to hasten our steps toward Bethlehem to meet the Child Who is born for us, for
the salvation and happiness of all humanity. … May she help us to live the joy of the gospel in the home, at
work, in the parish and in any environment. An intimate joy, born of wonder and tenderness. The same
joy of a mother who looks at her newborn baby, aware that she has received a gift from God, a miracle for
which she can only give thanks".
As we prepare for Jesus’ coming at Christmas, let us share our LOVE with all around us and share God’s word to
those who are suffering loneliness, lose of a loved one, the homeless and those in need.
HAVE A MERRY AND BLESSED CHRISTMAS OF HOPE , PEACE, JOY, AND LOVE!

My Dear Sons and Daughters,
The season of Advent is over. It is now Christmas and soon will be the New Year 2014.
Through our Advent preparation we are to experience a huge difference brought about by the Nativity of our
Lord Jesus Christ. The main purpose of His coming is to share with us TRUE PEACE.
May Jesus be reborn in your heart and life, and bless you with health in body and soul and may He turn you into
saints. I assure you of my special prayers during my Christmas Holy Masses and every day in the New Year.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

No man is too busy to be a Knight of Columbus. In fact, giving us just one day a year can make an enormous
difference in your life. By spending just 24 hours with us you will be able to serve your parish and help those
in need, grow in your faith, and access our top rated exclusive insurance protection for your family.
Regardless of their schedule or other commitments, nearly 2 million men around the world have found that
the Knights of Columbus adds something significant to their lives.
Listed is what a Knight can do in just 24 hours a year. Think what you can do with a week.
1. 8 hours a year working with your council on charitable projects for your Church and community.
2. 4 hours a year enjoying council functions with your families.
3. 4 hours a year attending council meetings to help plan future activities.
4. 6 hours a year (1/2 hour a month) reading the Columbia magazine and visiting the Knights of
Columbus website www.kofc.org.
5. 1 hour a year meeting your Knights of Columbus insurance agent for a free analysis of your family’s
insurance needs and to learn about our exclusive programs available to you, only as a Knight, and
your family.
6. 1 hour a year attending Mass with your council.
This is the sum total of 24 hours a year. That’s equivalent to 4 rounds of golf or 12 movies a year. If you take
this time toward the Knights of Columbus think not only what you are doing for yourself but your family,
Church and community as well. It’s only 24 hours a year.
In the last decade the Knights of Columbus have donated over a Billion dollars to charitable causes but
donating money is only part of what we do. Over the same time over 800 Million hours of volunteer time
given by the Knights members and their families in volunteer services helping others and supporting their
Church.
We often underestimate the power of helping others, giving of our time or the smallest act of service, all of
which have the potential to turn lives around.
Because there is a need in the community for your time and talent, there is a place for you in the Knights of
Columbus. Anyone can serve their community because we all have something to give. Enrich your life and
join us now and make a difference in your life.
From your own St. Peter and St. Paul Council of the Knights of Columbus,
we wish every one of you and yours,
a most Blessed Christmas
and healthy and safe
New Year!
