Welcome

Dear participant, After three first successful editions, we face in 2011 the 4th edition of the WKF Youth Camp and World Cup. Again in Greece, in a location close to the Athens airport and in a facility, like Loutraki, where the participants are going to find the ideal conditions to fulfil the objective of the Camp, how is training with top world known instructors in a friendly and cosmopolitan atmosphere whilst getting in touch for a week long with the state of the art of the sport of Karate. Loutraki has an experience of many years in hosting a significant diversity of sporting Youth Camps and consequently the expertise that assures this 4th WKF Youth Camp to be a complete success. Finally, I would like to thank the Hellenic Karate Federation and the local authorities for their help and support and I am looking forward to welcoming you all personally

City of Loutraki

The Municipality of Loutraki - Perachora belongs to the Prefecture of

Corinthia. It was established in 1934, and stems from the restructuring of

the former Municipality of Perachora.

The municipality apart from Loutraki and Perachora, it also includes the

areas of Isthmia and Pissia. The Municipality covers an area of 19.687 sq.

km and has a population of 16.520 inhabitants. The local inhabitants are

mainly occupied in the tourism industry, and at the same time in the

developing light manufacturing industry, craft industry and agriculture. The

local industries are mostly involved in bottling natural mineral water. The

Municipality of Loutraki - Perachora is only 85km away from Athens, the

capital of Greece, whilst they are linked with a toll highway and a railway. It

is also connected through road, railway and sea, with the most important

gates of the country (Piraeus and Patra).

The Sport Hall

The competition will take place at the Indoor Sport Hall of Loutraki. It has a capacity of 800 spectators, while there are many rooms for the better training of the athletes before competitions. The main hall is fully air-conditioned. Distance from the Sport Camp is 1 km and 4 km from the Poseidon Resort.

Accommodation

The accommodation for the athletes will take place in the Sport Camp complex which can accommodate more than 300 persons and provide all sports facilities including the training halls for the athletes; the accompanying persons will stay in the official hotel (Poseidon Resort) with a capacity of more than 300 persons as well. DEADLINE for reservations 31st of March 2011 The Sport Camp prices offered are full board per person per day in quadruple rooms and 6 beds rooms. The accommodation in the Poseidon Resort will be in double room basis with half board; limited places will be also offered in single room basis, also half board. During the competition days each athlete will be provided with a lunch basket upon request. This request must be presented in written 2 days before the team’s arrival in order that the necessary arrangements are made. IMPORTANT NOTE

All competitors must bring with them their own gloves and belts (red and blue) and all other protective equipment approved by the WKF as the face mask and the body protection.

Registration

Registration to the Cup and/or Camp must be done ONLY through the National Karate Federation that is the WKF member for the country. For this purpose the National Federations will use the WKF On-Line registration only. Reservation of hotel room even through the official travel agent does not mean that the person is accepted to participate in the Camp and/or Cup. The Camp

Participating ages: 14, 15, 16, 17 years old. (Participants to the seminar must be born between 4

th July 1993 and 5

th July 1997)

Younger and older participants will not be allowed.

All of the participants will stay at the Sport Camp facilities.

The participants to the seminar will pay 60 €, during the official registration (sport camp 15:00-20:00, Monday 4 July) as participation fee for the youth seminar and 30 CHF (27 Euro) for the WKF ID card.

Participation to the WKF Youth World Cup will be free of charge for the participants of the camp and only for them. The deadline for registration in the seminar and the cup is 31st of March 2011. In principle there will be a maximum number of forty (40) participants per National Federation. As for the limited number of places the rule “first come first serve” will be followed; and the organization reserves the right not to accept any more applicants once the limit is reached.

All participants must bring with them the appropriate protective items (as per WKF rules), karate-gi and running shoes.

The assistant Instructors of the Camp

Kostas Gouvousis was born in Lakonia, Greece on the 10th of June 1959. Black Belt 6th Dan in Shotokan Karate. National Coach since 1995 until today. Karate Clubs trainer since 1983. Certified Karate Coach from the Greek Sports Ministry. National Champion in -80kg from 1988 to 1995.

Bronze medallist in the 1987 Mediterranean Games. Silver medallist in the 1992 Mediterranean Games. 6th place in the World Championships of 1988 in Open category. Member of the Greek national team from 1987 to 1995.

Ioannis Kanelllis was born in Athens, Greece on the 28th of July 1958. Black Belt 6th Dan in Wado Karate and the WKF. WKF Referee A and Judge A. EKF Referee A and Judge A. Balkan Karate Federation Referee Commission Chairman since 2005. National Coach since 1990 until today.

Karate Clubs trainer since 1976. Certified Karate Coach from the Greek Sports Ministry. Assistant Instructor in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd WKF Youth Camp. 5th place in European Wado Championships in +80kg from 1990 to 1992. Silver medallist in the 1993 World Wado Championships in team kumite.

The briefing for coach accreditation

The qualification that will be given to the participants in the briefing is “Accredited Coach” and it will entitle to become the coach accreditation at WKF official events. The details for the coach accreditation are included in the attached WKF information letter.

Those who do not get the qualification of “Accredited Coach” in Loutraki will have to get it in the 2011 World Championships before the beginning of competition. After that, next coaches’ accreditation will take place in the relevant briefing and examinations that the WKF will call in 2012. The fee for attending the briefing and obtaining the level of “Accredited Coach” is 200CHF or 165€. The licence renewal will take place every 3 years. All Accredited Coaches must be holders of the annual WKF ID card which costs 20€. In this occasion, all coaches registered for the briefing in Loutraki will be given, without additional cost, the right to attend the stage conducted the day before the briefing by Con Kassis, Chairman of the WKF Referee Commission.

Every athlete will have to register and to attend the seminar in order to be eligible to participate in the subsequent World Cup. In the 4th WKF Youth World Cup there will be Kata & Kumite competition with the competition categories that are shown below:
